Blurred Lines [Henry&Caspian]
familiar-henry:
The vampireâs response was oddly soothing and Henry felt his shoulders droop in response to the tension leaving his system. It wasnât easy for Henry to openly trust others and vampires were no exception. âThank you.â He murmured his gratitude once more as he slid into the empty seat. Henry placed his book on the shared table but continued to hold tightly onto the safety of his teacup. He wasnât entirely sure why he felt the need to thank Caspian so often but his feelings had lied with darker areas before when it came to the vampire; continued appreciate for the man who saved his life couldnât be all that bad.
âIt was more than that. You brought me to your home. You encouraged me to heal my wounds when I would have probably let myself rot. Iâm not at my best when Iâm⌠under the influence.â Henry scrunched his nose at his own words, his fingers beginning to cramp from the sheer force of his grip on his teacup. âSo, I mean it when I say thank you. I donât.. say it often.â
The admission would hopefully be enough for Caspian because Henry truly hated owing people anything. The vampire could easily hold the situation above his head at a later time but hopefully Henry didnât have to hear/think about it after their talk.Â
It took a moment to recollect his own thoughts and form a proper answer that didnât delve too deeply into his personal life. âYes.â Henry paused as he finally let the teacup sit on the surface. âHe was directly involved with the fight. It could have been a lot worse, he just⌠had some mentalâuh, memory loss trauma. It was difficult.â
Henry could never form a phrase for how god-awful it had been to not see Griffinâs eyes light up with recognition in the hospital; It was far worse than difficult. âDid you know anyone?âÂ
Caspian hid a smile beneath his facade he kept well displayed. This story his traumatised mind had given him truly was becoming more and more amusing by the minute. If encouraged meant forced while being devoured and even raped, then he would comply with this fabricated story of his. Part of him nearly asked âwhat wounds?â but he would not foolishly expose him to the true memories that was saving the vampire for landing a prison sentence and maybe even being removed from the sanctuary.Â
Instead he replied, âIt was quite an injury you experienced during the chaos when the fire started. We happened to meet at the right time. There is no need to thank me but I appreciate it never the less,â his face remaining rather too composed and lifeless.Â
âWhatâs his name?â he peered at the familiar. âIs he recovering well?â Not that Caspian cared in the slightest. âI know someone with memory loss trauma, two in fact. Not caused by the incident, however.â A truth, though warped, Henry hadnât had his memories jumbled up from the fire or the chaos that happened there after, but it was in the same vicinity.Â
