Ooc: Hello gang! It’s me, @notsoscarystudios !! I made a new blog, because a single rp has clogged up my whole blog and I feel bad for my irl friends.

Cas is a Web avatar who uses he/him pronouns. He can make people do what he wants through speech and, since his coma, through his eyes. He’s a little awkward until you get to know him or talk to him about things he really likes. Cas really cares about his friends, even if he doesn’t know how to show it all the time, and he never leaves the house without several items of food on him at any time. He and Ren (from @/ren-cormander-archival-intern) are flatmates, so he’ll walk into the institute from time to time.

Axel is an End avatar who uses he/they pronouns. He’s a bit of an asshole. He crashes his motorcycle in front of people for fun, and he lives and works out of a technically-abandoned car shop that he doesn’t pay rent for. Secretly, Axel doesn’t know who he is. His name was made up after he woke up from a terrible crash with no memory of anything else. Axel can be charming, but he’s not a good person.

Cas and Axel are were(?) dating for a few years. Their relationship is… complicated.

It's late- not quite nighttime, but the difference doesn't matter, not when none of the lights in their apartment are ever on. It's late, and Cas is drunk, and so he forgets, for a moment, the consequences, as he stumbles inside and flicks on the lights.

Cas realized his mistake after a moment, quickly turning the light back off as soon as his drunken unwieldy fingers would work. Then, he called out. “Ren? Did I- are you okay?”

There's silence for a moment before it crunches underfoot- Ren seeming to coalesce entirely out of the shadows as they approach, dark ink dripping down their face like a nosebleed. When they speak, it's almost panicked, ricocheting about the room like a million different voices as they grab his arm. "What did he do to you?"

Cas unthinkingly pulled away from Ren, alarmed by suddenly being grabbed without seeing they were there. Hearing their voice, Cas relaxed a bit. “Nothing, it’s… fine. I’m fine, Ren.” Considering Ren’s whole thing was about hiding, it was clear as day- or, night- that Cas was lying.

The shadows lashing at the corner of the room seem to turn almost angry. "What did he do," they repeat. Cas hasn't been home in a few days, and they've been growing more and more worried- there's a cold takeout container on the counter, a grey mockery of the days when they used to cook for him. Neither of them need food, anymore, not really. The reminder feels lifeless.

He saw how almost nothing in the apartment had moved since he’d left, and he just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. This was the only place he’d ever felt safe before, and the life had been sucked out of it. And he knows that it’s not coming back. It can’t. “I’m tired.”

How naive he was to think they’d live happily, knowing what happened to avatars. “He hurt me, but I’m okay. It won’t even scar.” Cas didn’t want to say how, or why, or what had happened. He should stop sleeping with Axel, but he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t, because at least with Axel he could see the sun sometimes, or talk to people, or leave the house, or pretend like they need to eat.

"You should stop seeing him." It's a worn and tired argument, one they know is futile. "He's not safe for you, Cas."

“I’m gonna die one way or another,” he replied, as if it was a sick joke. “We’re avatars now. It’s what we do.” Cas didn’t look at Ren. It’s not like he could see them, even if he tried. Maybe an outline of them, maybe a shadow in their shape, but not them. “I’m just… I’m tired.”

"I don't want you to die." And that, more than anything, is what drives it home- this isn't the Ren he had met, so many years ago. They look like Ren, standing there shaking, and for all intents and purposes they are- except. Except. Except that he hasn't heard them stutter in months.

This isn't their Cas, though, either. They love him- will always love him, but he's changed. They've both changed. Avatars, he'd said, but Ren knows what he'd really meant is monsters.

Now he lives in a dark and empty flat, seeing what altogether amounts to an empty space where his spouse should be. Ren was right in front of him but he couldn’t see them. “I don’t want to die either. But I don’t want to live like this.” He’d tried before, to stop living, but not since before he moved in with Ren. He’d forgotten what it felt like. Cas wanted a cigarette.

There's a person in a leather jacket and dark sunglasses sitting on a bench, watching you. They don't seem aggressive, but they won't stop staring, and they look... Weird. Almost too saturated compared to the world around them, with curly, bright yellow hair and slightly orangey skin.

Axel frowned, humming slightly to himself. He could tell something was weird, and of course he was immediately intrigued. But did he want to mess with the supernatural right now? Well… yes. Very much so. He approached the stranger. “Nice jacket.” Axel was wearing a similar jacket in a different style, singed and mended from reckless motorcycle accidents.

"Thanks." The stranger smiled. "I was looking at you for that reason, actually. We match." Up close, he noticed there was a very strong scent of vanilla perfume hovering about them, with something else underneath, almost like a very faint smell of decaying meat. "What's your name?"

“Ah, I see.” Axel may not be an avatar of the Flesh, nor the Slaughter, but he’s seen enough death as an avatar of the End to know what decay smells like. His smile was tight-lipped, polite, and giving nothing away. “Axel. What’s yours?”

"Mara. Nice to meet you." She stood, looking him up and down. "That's quite a scar you got there, on your neck. Looks pretty gnarly."

“It sure was,” Axel grinned proudly, pulling his collar down to show it off. “Decapitated. But, hey, I got better.” He shrugged, as if that was something normal for a person to do.

Mara grinned. "You too?" They pulled down the spiked collar on their neck to reveal a deep, poorly stitched-up cut along the front of their throat.

Axel’s grin widened. “Oh, wow! You too!” He’d never met someone so similar to him.

"Awesome." They replaced the collar, adjusting it carefully. "So, what brings a dead man to be walking freely in the street?"

Axel considered the question for a moment, before shrugging, smiling like he was about to play some joke. “I wish I could tell you. I died and then I woke up again, ten years later.”

"Oof, that's a long time. Only took a few minutes for me..." She sniffed the air. "Guess it was worth it though. You seem almost human."

“Eh, more or less,” he shrugged. “Not too worth it, though. I woke up without any memories. Didn’t even know my name. It turns out, I had a son, and he was turning eleven that year. I had no clue.”

“Yep. Axel’s the new one.” He tried not to seem too bothered. “I like my life now.”

They smiled. "Funny how life can be so much better after such a terrible event. I guess the fresh start changes things, doesn't it?" They stood, brushing themself off. "I'm Mara, by the way."

“Well, I found out my old life wasn’t exactly warm and fuzzy.” He gave a small smile. They’d already said their name, but he wouldn’t comment. “Nice to meet you.”

“Apparently, I came from a fear dynasty of Hunters who kidnapped and fed on children, masquerading it as wilderness therapy.” He shrugged. “So I much prefer being a car mechanic.”

“I don’t have to work,” he replied. “I work because it’s a good way to get fear. Make an engine explode, and you get a lot of people worried about their own cars crashing and the death it may cause.”

"Thanks." The stranger smiled. "I was looking at you for that reason, actually. We match." Up close, he noticed there was a very strong scent of vanilla perfume hovering about them, with something else underneath, almost like a very faint smell of decaying meat. "What's your name?"

“It sure was,” Axel grinned proudly, pulling his collar down to show it off. “Decapitated. But, hey, I got better.” He shrugged, as if that was something normal for a person to do.

Mara grinned. "You too?" They pulled down the spiked collar on their neck to reveal a deep, poorly stitched-up cut along the front of their throat.

"Awesome." They replaced the collar, adjusting it carefully. "So, what brings a dead man to be walking freely in the street?"
