Ā "Oh mine isnāt the cleanest either" she replied with a smile, looking around. "Itās really nice here. Where did you live before?"
"It's really messy. I'm still living out of boxes." she smiled, moving some books and boxes off the couch. "I've been living in Bridgeport for a while but I moved from a smaller apartment when I got my promotion. Would you like a drink?"
Ā "Her, its a her. Shes the baby, her name is Ruth, shes gray. I was taking her to the vet for her exam, and she hopped out of the taxi near here, ran into the building. I was hoping someone hadā¦ I donāt know, sorry to bother you."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I can help you look for her if you like? I really don't mind. I don't have anything else to do."
Ā He starts to make them both a coffee as she sits down āThis place is in pretty good condition, nothing a screw driver and some poly-filler canāt fix this place will look brand newā He said handing her a cup
āItās not too bad is itā¦ā she smiled, taking the cup and wrapping both of her hands around it as she sat back in her seat. āIāll pay you for the work you do. Heavens knows that I wouldnāt be able to do it myself.ā
Ā "Thank you!" Kaiden placed the guitar back on itās stand "I am thinking a cheerful song, I have too many sad ones."Ā
āYouāre very welcome.ā Cassy grinned, watching him as he placed the guitar down. āI can do cheerful. I like to think that Iām cheerful.ā
Ā "Well, I am here now. You are okay." He pulled her into a quick hug "Is there anything I can do to make you feel safe?"
She gave a smile before hugging back tightly and resting her head against his shoulder. āIām okayā¦ Iām fine. I think.ā She paused, stepping back a little to look at him. āWhen you get off work you could come by and keep me company for a little while, if you wouldnāt mindā
Ā I never kid about my work, miss. ((He said, flicking on his ESP reader and waiting for it to warm up. Once it had, he started walking around.)) Iām Alvin by the way. Alvin Foley.
āSoā¦.. Youāre a ghost hunter?ā she asked, raising an eyebrow. āThat must be interesting.ā She watched him before shaking her head a little. āItās nice to meet you, Alvin. Iām Casaundra Winters. But you can call me Cassy.ā
Ā Emery thought of the duties she had to do and why she originally came here. āIād love to come inside if you donāt mind.ā
āI donāt mind at all,ā She smiled, opening the door wider to let her in. āIgnore the mess. I havenāt been living here long. Iām still moving in.āĀ
Ā "Itās definitely true. Some people are really grumpy when they open the door if Iām being honest. And thatās not really inviting."
"Alriight, Cassy then. Itās nice to meet you. You have a really pretty name."
"I know exactly what you mean..." She paused, looking around outside the door. "That's so sweet of you. Thank you so much. If you aren't busy you can come in if you like."
Ā "Did you recognize the person? Or would you be able to describe him or her to a sketch artist?" He questioned "I wouldnāt want them to come back and hurt you."
She shook her head, looking up at him from under her eyelashes. "No, I didn't see them. They were out in the hall and I was in my apartment. I only saw them from behind." She paused, trying to get her story straight. "I doubt they will come back. I was just scared."
Ā "You answer it like this all the time? Oh thatās adorable! Could end up really weird but itās adorableā¦"
"But for the next time, Iām Emery Sugg."
"yeah. I suppose. It just seems nicer than just opening the door. I'm glad someone finds it cute."
"It's nice to meet you, Emery. I'm Casaundra Winters. But you can call me Cassy."
Ā Hunter gave her a dry laugh, he had to be professional. āWhat is the problem Mrs. Winters? I was told you called with a Ā complaint.ā
"The problem....?" She looked at him for a moment before looking shocked. "Oh.. oh yeah. ermm... there was someone trying to get into my apartment. I was so scared,Lieutenant Penn."
Ā Oh, a call to get rid of unwanted spirits, ghosts, so on and so forth.
"Unwanted Spirits and Ghosts? You are kidding me, right?" she raised an eyebrow at him before shrugging. "Each to their own, I suppose."
Alright, time for a moment to myself to justā¦sit back and relax. If I get a call, so be it, but Iāll enjoy any second of peace I can get.
"If you get a call? for what exactly"
"Buttercup? That is your nickname for me now?"Ā
She looked at him with a smile before shrugging her shoulders. "I'll call you anything you like, officer."
"Butterā¦cupā¦? Whatever. Have you seen a small gray cat? I lost mine earlier."
"You lost your cat? No, sorry. I haven't seen him but I can help you look for him if you like?"
Buttercup? Oh um ā¦ I think I knocked on the wrong door, sweetpeaā¦
"oh, okay. No worries, sweetie. I kinda answer the door that way to everyone."
Ā Making himself comfortable on the cushions, Callan nodded at her suggestion. āI never turn down pizza, ever,ā He agreed, stretching. Callan never watched the news, or else heād have recognized her voice. āDid you always wanna do that, or did it just happen?ā He asked, thinking of his writing, how accidental that was.
"Pizza is good any time. And to be honest, moving in somewhere makes you not want to cook. Ordering in sounds good." She smiled, pulling her phone out of her pocket. "Yeah, well, kinda. I just knew that I wanted to be a journalist. I didn't think I would get so far to be honest."
