Pelipper mail is ON! Musharna mail / malice are ON! Magic Anons / Pelipper malice are SELECTIVE!
OOC BELOW!
Hey guys! Before I get into anything, I want to first say that this blog is planned to have meta elements. There will be themes including loss of control, questioning reality, disassociation, and mind control (actions being influenced or controlled by the universe itself), and potentially more depending on how the story progresses or changes. If ANY of these elements are triggering or uncomfortable for you to view, I encourage you to PLEASE either block or not interact with this blog, or block the tags #tw meta, #tw unreality, #tw loss of control, and #tw mind control.
If you're staying or potentially find this blog interesting, welcome! My name is Keriah, and I am the mun of this roleplay blog. I am 18+, and I use any pronouns! My main blog is @ keriah!
Although I am an adult, my muse is not! Suggestive jokes are fine, but please don't go into detail. Any asks that are too inappropriate, go into detail about gore or animal / Pokémon abuse, or any other intense topics will likely be ignored.
In character hate, Pelipper mail, Musharna mail / malice, union circles and roleplay interactions are always welcome! Any blogs may interact! I may be particular about Pelipper malice, but feel free to shoot your shot! I'll likely be picky with magic Anons as well (generally, low stakes or joke asks should be fine in moderation).
Keep in mind this may be updated in the future! If you've read all the way through, thank you!

I WASN'T ANTICIPATING a NEW POKÉMON but THIS is FIDDLENECK 🦒🔥‼️ DON'T ASK ME HOW I KNEW I'd be NEEDING HIM DON'T ASK DON'T ASK DON'T ASK 🤫❌️
FIDDLENECK HERE is GONNA BE EDELWEISS' PARTNER in CRIME for DRAYTON'S TRIAL‼️ SPEAKING of DRAYTON ☝️‼️ HES the LAST BB E4 MEMBER I NEED to BEAT before THE CHAMPION 😌 THE LAST BATTLE was PRETTY DIFFICULT but I KNOW the GANG CAN DO THIS‼️
[The video begins in the Coastal Biome of the Terarium, the camera hovering above a large battle court that's made up of pink tiles. On either end of the court is Lacey and Cerbera, already in position and ready to battle. However, Cerbera's face is noticeably scrunched up, as if trying to bite back some kind of pain.
“You're about to learn that cuteness is real strength!” Lacey shouts out, lifting her hands up to adjust the dual hair clips on either side of her head. Then, with a graceful flourish, she throws two Nest Balls forward, releasing a Granbull and a Whimsicott.
Cerbera appears to focus, their body tensing up as they get into a familiar battling position. They say nothing in reply to Lacey, and instead go straight to sending out their own pair of Pokémon. Edelweiss the Archaludon and Hydrangea the Tinkaton hit the field, the former letting out a loud cry, while the latter readies her hammer.
Lacey's Granbull, despite its initial cuteness, snarls and bares its teeth, using its Intimidate ability to lower the attack of its foes. However, this doesn't stop Hydrangea from dashing forward, raising her hammer to smack the Fairy Type with a Fake Out attack. Whimsicott is quickly commanded to use Light Screen, and Edelweiss uses the opportunity created by Fake Out to fire off a Flash Cannon towards Granbull.
Granbull loudly grumbles in frustration as the super-effective hit causes it to tumble backwards. Lacey gasps, bringing her hands up to hover in front of her mouth. However, Granbull quickly picks itself back up, shaking out its body as if to brush off the damage.
Whimsicott then moves to summon an orb of Fairy Type energy in its tiny hands, before firing it off straight at Edelweiss. However, despite her Dragon Typing, Edelweiss’ Steel Typing makes the hit neutral rather than super-effective. In fact, Edelweiss only seems to get stronger, as the damage triggers her Stamina ability.
Hydrangea leaps upwards with a surprising height, before bringing her hammer straight down onto Whimsicott with a Gigaton Hammer attack. Surprisingly, as Hydrangea leaps back to her side of the field, Whimsicott remains standing.
Another Flash Cannon from Edelweiss knocks Granbull out, and Lacey opts to send in Primarina to replace it. Cerbera narrows her eyes, briefly bringing a closed fist up to rest against her forehead, seeming to be trying to concentrate. After a subtle wince, Cerbera switches Hydrangea out for Basil the Ogerpon.
As soon as Lacey sees the Pokémon, her face lights up. “Oh my goodness! Cerbera! You never told me you had such a cutie on your team!” She coos, happily waving towards the Pokémon. When Basil waves back, Lacey excitedly giggles, before pausing in realization.
“I mean, um… Let's get back to it! Use Tailwind, Whimsicott!” Lacey extends a hand forward, seeming to be trying to hide any embarrassment behind a serious expression. Despite Cerbera's irregular demeanor, he manages a quiet laugh.
As the battle resumes, Primarina is quick to send a Moonblast attack off towards Edelweiss, while Edelweiss knocks Whimsicott out with a Flash Cannon attack.
With Whimsicott down for the count, Lacey opts to send in her Galarian Slowbro to replace it. As she does, Cerbera reaches down towards their side to grab their Tera Orb. Although they still seem to be suffering from some kind of headache, they remain focused on the battle.
“You wanted to see how someone from Paldea Terastallizes, yeah?” Cerbera grins as Terastal energy begins to rapidly flow from the orb and towards Basil. “Alright, Basil! Show ‘em what you've got!” He shouts, causing Basil to eagerly cry out and nod in agreement. Soon enough, she's Terastallized into a pure Grass Type, with a giant, crystallized mask acting as a floating shield.
As Basil leaps forward with her cudgel, Lacey is practically rendered speechless. Primarina finally falls to a super-effective Ivy Cudgel attack, and Edelweiss follows it up with a Thunderbolt attack against Slowbro. However, like Primarina, Edelweiss too falls, this time after a Flamethrower attack from Slowbro.
Lacey quickly shakes her head, forcing herself out of the rest of her shock as she sends in Alcremie to replace Primarina. Cerbera, on the other hand, sends in Snapdragon the Skeledirge to replace the fallen Edelweiss. Slowbro's Quick Draw ability allows it to move before all others on the field, and it's able to deal out a strong Shell Side Arm towards Basil. Another strong Ivy Cudgel attack from Basil isn't quite enough to take out Alcremie, allowing it to be able to use Decorate on Slowbro, causing it to become even more powerful.
Snapdragon uses Earth Power on the boosted Slowbro, and although it does do considerable damage, it's quickly able to heal itself back up with a Sitrus Berry. As Light Screen wears off, Slowbro sends off another burst of poison damage towards Basil with Shell Side Arm, while Alcremie uses Recover on itself to restore some of its health. As Basil finally succumbs to the damage and microscopic Terastal crystals shatter and disperse in the wind, Snapdragon uses yet another Earth Power on Slowbro.
With a strong Pokémon like Ogerpon down, Cerbera is seen noticeably gritting their teeth. Whether it's out of frustration or a new surge of pain is unclear. However, they still don't falter, and instead send out Hydrangea the Tinkaton to replace the fallen Basil.
Hydrangea uses Fake Out on Slowbro, causing it to flinch, even with its Quick Draw ability having been activated. After Snapdragon uses Torch Song on Alcremie, and Alcremie uses Decorate on Slowbro, Hydrangea finally manages to take Slowbro down with a Play Rough attack. As Snapdragon uses another Torch Song and Alcremie recovers its health, Lacey reaches for her final Poké Ball.
She gracefully tosses it forward, and a large Excadrill is released onto the field. Without wasting a moment, Lacey reaches for her Tera Orb next, looking genuinely excited despite being down to her final two Pokémon.
“It's our turn, Excadrill! All eyes on our great big Terastal heart! Time to get even cuter and cuter!” Lacey shouts, using her free hand to project her voice. Still holding the Tera Orb, she allows it to activate, and as the energy whips her hair about, Excadrill begins to Terastallize. Soon enough, a large crystallized heart sprouts from Excadrill's head, signifying its change into the fairy type.
As soon as its transformation is complete, Excadrill rushes forward towards Hydrangea. With a single High Horsepower attack, the fairy type is felled, but with Excadrill distracted, Snapdragon manages to damage Alcremie with another boosted Torch Song. However, Alcremie still has enough health to survive, and is able to boost Excadrill's stats with another Decorate.
“High Horsepower, dear! Let's show them how it's done!” Lacey shouts, extending her hand forward as she commands her Pokémon. Excadrill nods, and suddenly rushes across the field. With a single High Horsepower attack, Snapdragon becomes too weak to continue battling, and is forced back into his Poké Ball.
As Alcremie uses yet another Decorate on Excadrill, Cerbera is seen squinting, nearly wincing as they attempt to concentrate. After a moment, they send out Mezereum the Clodsire to replace Snapdragon, and quickly order her to use Poison Jab on Excadrill. The attack does some noticeable damage, but most importantly, Mezereum manages to poison Excadrill in the process. However, when Excadrill targets Mezereum with a High Horsepower, she quickly faints, unable to handle the damage.
The Pokémon that's sent out to replace Hydrangea is Nymphaea the Floatzel, and after a lucky critical hit, Excadrill falls. The Terastal heart displayed on its head shatters into pieces, scattering pink Tera shards across the battlefield. Now, the only Pokémon left that are still available to battle are Lacey's Alcremie and Cerbera's Floatzel.
However, with Alcremie's Recover and Giga Drain combo, it's clear that Nymphaea alone won't be able to take it down just using her Liquidation attacks. Cerbera grimaces, bringing a closed fist up to rest against his forehead. He looks worried, and even a bit pained, before his eyes suddenly widen.
He begins digging into his bag, and soon enough, a Max Revive is seen in his hands. Lacey curiously waits as Cerbera sends out his weakened Archaludon, but after giving her the Max Revive, she roars, ready to get straight back to battling.
It's just in time, as another Giga Drain from Alcremie takes out the rest of Nymphaea's health. The Floatzel skids across the field, but as she lays in defeat on Cerbera's side of the field, Edelweiss steps in front of her. She opens her mouth to charge a Flash Cannon, and with one final attack, the battle is over. Alcremie retreats back into her Poké Ball.
Cerbera stands still, but after a moment, they begin to falter. As the tension leaves their body, they nearly fall forward, having to use Edelweiss for support as they return Nymphaea to her Poké Ball. Lacey looks ready to say something, but at the sight of Cerbera looking unsteady, she instead begins trotting over, worriedly calling out her peer's name.
Can you take care of my priceless ancient artifact for like a couple days. It's worth more than your entire family and can break if you look at it too intensely.

EDELWEISS is GONNA BRING the HOUSE DOWN 🗣🏠👇‼️ NEMONA HELPED MAIL me some TMs and BATTLING SUPPLIES FROM PALDEA (THANK YOU POOKIE 🥺🫶‼️) SO WE'LL DEFINITELY be READY to RUMBLE for the NEXT ELITE FOUR MATCH 💪🏋♂️💯🔥🔥🔥‼️
I actually wasn’t attacked by any Sunflora this time - no getting swept for me. Brassius himself… well, @cascabellsprout and the Gliscord community I’m in spoiled his ace and strategy to me, so I was able to beat him without even Terastallizing. The three Pokémon that I expected to carry the team did so - I think I won’t retire some of them just yet.
With that day done, I’m heading back to the Academy to join Elite Four member Mr. Hassel’s art class and plan my next Treasure Hunt move.
[The video begins, showing a large battle court with deep blue tiling making up a majority of the floor. The court seems to be somewhere within the Canyon Biome, with white cubes acting as a half-wall to prevent any person or Pokémon from easily tumbling to the ground below. Cerbera and Amarys stand across from each other, seeming to be having a brief discussion before the battle actually begins.
“You've earned the right to face me in battle.” Amarys speaks up, dipping her head in what looks to be a sign of respect. “Do you wish to begin?” She asks calmly, hands remaining perfectly still at her sides.
“No time like the present.” Cerbera nods his head in confirmation, giving a grin that shows off some of his teeth. “The team's been preparing for this. We're ready for whatever you've got.”
“Understood.” For the briefest moment, a small smile sneaks its way onto Amarys’ face. “Let's assume our battle positions.” She takes a moment to adjust her glasses, before turning around and quickly trotting towards her side of the court with calculated movements.
Cerbera does a mini salute just as Amarys turns away, and quickly runs off towards their side of the court to get some distance. Once the two are ready, Amarys appears to take a deep breath. “Position assumed.” As she turns back around, she hesitates, looking ready to say something. Only when Cerbera curiously tilts his head does Amarys begin.
“There is one thing I wanted to ask you…” She asks, expression turning completely serious. “It concerns Kieran. What is he to you, Cerbera?” As she speaks, Amarys seems to study Cerbera very carefully, analyzing their every expression and movement.
Cerbera, meanwhile, noticeably hesitates. By the look on her face, she hadn't expected that question. “I…” They bite their lip and run a hand through their hair, seeming to be at a complete loss. “Honestly, I don't know anymore. I mean, I hope we're still friends, but…” He looks downwards now, almost seeming momentarily guilty.
Amarys frowns in contemplation, before curtly nodding her head. “So, you are uncertain… I see.” She seems satisfied with the honest answer, and seeing as Cerbera remains quiet, she continues.
“For my part, Kieran is the younger brother of my dear friend, Carmine.” She begins, seeming to choose her words carefully. “Something in him has changed– he is not his usual self. I find this deeply concerning.” She admits, turning her head away to stare into the open air beside her. She closes her eyes, her body and expression seeming calm and collected despite her worries.
“If possible… I want to be the one to help him.” Amarys confesses, but her voice is a bit quieter now, as if nervous of admitting such a thing. Then, when she looks back towards Cerbera, her expression resumes its stoic calm. “That being the case, I cannot afford to lose.”
After a moment, Cerbera manages a subtle smile as they nod their head. “Yeah, I get it. But, you know, no matter who wins, we can both try to help him. Even if we have different ideas on how to do it.” They extend their hands in an inviting gesture, an understanding glint in their eyes.
For a moment, Amarys smiles. It's small and reluctant, but it's there nonetheless. “I appreciate the sentiment.” She gives Cerbera her own nod, before she reaches for the pocket watch underneath her coat. After checking the time, she nods once again, this time to herself.
“... Our battle starts now.” She announces, her smile quickly disappearing as the cold, neutral expression reappears on her face. After clicking a button on her watch, she tucks it back into her coat, and retrieves two Heavy Balls from her side.
“May the best man win.” Amarys’ composure seems to rub off on Cerbera, as they take a deep breath to steady themselves. Surprisingly, they don't immediately retreat into their familiar battling position. Their posture remains relaxed as they reach for their own Poké Balls, and their eyes narrow in concentration.
The battle begins as Amarys sends out her first two Pokémon, an Alolan Dugtrio and a Skarmory. “Get ready, Skarmory. You too, Dugtrio. We're finishing this battle right on schedule.” She nods to her two Pokémon, a new determination in her voice as she addresses her allies.
Cerbera, meanwhile, opts to begin by sending out Nymphaea the Floatzel and Lycoris the Basculegion. The pair of Pokémon instantly get into position, and when Nymphaea glances back at her trainer, she gives a reassuring, toothy grin.
Amarys’ Dugtrio begins by firing off an Earthquake that damages both of Cerbera's Pokémon, but Nymphaea is quick to strike back. A Liquidation nearly causes Dugtrio to faint, if not for the Focus Sash it had been holding. Using the opportunity, Amarys commands Skarmory to use Body Press, and Nymphaea is forced back into her Poké Ball. After a Flip Turn from Lycoris, Dugtrio is next to faint, crying out in defeat as it too retreats to the safety of its Poké Ball.
Amarys sends in Empoleon to replace Dugtrio, while Cerbera decides to send in Snapdragon the Skeledirge and Cinnamon the Pawmot. Amarys looks momentarily surprised by the sudden appearance of the Electric Type, but Cerbera smiles in genuine excitement.
“Double Shock, Cin! Give ‘em your worst!”
Cinnamon cheers in agreement, surrounding itself with all of the electricity it can muster. Suddenly, it's all sent crashing towards Empoleon, and the Pokémon goes down in a single hit. Amarys looks genuinely impressed, but she quickly reigns herself in, and the battle is forced to continue. Skarmory sets up a layer of Stealth Rocks, and Snapdragon nearly takes it out entirely with a Torch Song attack, if not for its Sturdy ability.
Amarys switches in Reuniclus, and Cerbera switches Pawmot out in favor of Castilleja the Chi-Yu. As its Beads of Ruin ability activates, Amarys raises an eyebrow at the unfamiliar Pokémon. However, there's no time for questions, as another Torch Song causes Skarmory to fall, and Reuniclus sets up a Trick Room.
Amarys sends out her Scizor to replace the fainted Skarmory, and as Reuniclus uses Protect, Scizor attacks Snapdragon with an Aerial Ace. In retaliation, Snapdragon begins gathering fire in his mouth, before firing off a boosted Torch Song. Even with the Occa Berry, Scizor isn't able to survive the attack. Castilleja attempts a Dark Pulse to get its own KO, but the attack is quickly halted by the Protect.
Amarys takes a moment to adjust her glasses, the lenses seeming to have fogged up from the heat of Snapdragon's attack. “... Time is short. Let's wrap this battle up.” Even with her team on the ropes, Amarys remains perfectly calm as she pulls out her final Poké Ball, along with a Tera Orb. She sends out her final Pokémon, a Metagross, and readies her Tera Orb.
Even as the capsule brims and shakes with new energy, Amarys just holds the side of her glasses with a free hand. As crystals begin to engulf Metagross, it lets out a determined cry, and is Terastallized into a pure Steel Type. Due to the Trick Room, Amarys’ Pokémon are able to move much faster, and rush towards their opponents.
Snapdragon is hit by a Psychic from Reuniclus, and Castilleja is taken out by a Brick Break from Metagross. However, even with one of their Pokémon out for the count, Cerbera stands confidently. “Alright, Snappy, let's do this again. Get ready, buddy!” They extend a hand to point towards Metagross, and Snapdragon inclines his head in a curt nod of understanding.
Snapdragon's flames only seem to grow more powerful, wisps of fire harmlessly licking against his scales as he prepares another attack. With a shout from his Trainer, he fires off another Torch Song, straight towards the Metagross. Even with its boosts, the attack seems to do even more damage than usual, resulting in something that may have been a bit overkill.
“Fuck yes! That was awesome, Snappy!” Cerbera cheers with a laugh, momentarily distracted as they pump both fists into the air. Snapdragon excitedly wags his tail as the praise, and even Amarys seems to gently smile without realizing.
As Lycoris switches back in to replace Castilleja, Snapdragon is finally taken down by a second Psychic attack from Reuniclus. Lycoris uses a Liquidation attack against Reuniclus, but it isn't enough, and the Psychic Type is already gradually regaining health with its Leftovers item.
Lilium the Annihilape switches in to replace Snapdragon, but Reuniclus quickly takes out Lycoris’ remaining health with an Energy Ball. A Rage Fist isn't quite enough to take down Reuniclus, but even with the opposing Pokémon's success, Cerbera's victory is already assured. Once Pawmot is sent out, one final powerful Double Shock attack is enough to finally win the battle.
As Reuniclus is returned to its Poké Ball, there's a moment of pause. Then, Amarys’ shoulders relax the slightest bit, and she takes a deep breath. “I am… not enough, I see.” Despite her defeat, and the clear disappointment in her eyes, there's the beginnings of a smile on her face, as if some kind of weight was suddenly lifted.
Without any tension in his body to release, Cerbera is free to quickly recall his Pokémon and run right up to Amarys as soon as the battle has ended. “Amarys! That was awesome!” He encourages, a bright smile on his face. However, when he notices Amarys’ somewhat conflicted expression, his smile softens a bit.
“Thank you, Cerbera. I am glad to have provided an ‘awesome’ battle.” For a moment, it seems as if she has to hold back a laugh. “The strength of one's Pokémon reflects the strength of one's beliefs.” Amarys notes, an obvious respect in her voice.
However, she suddenly seems the slightest bit conflicted as she turns her head away. “Your desire to help Kieran is evidently greater than my own.” She admits, sounding as if she's already accepted the fact.
“What? Hey, come on, that's not true.” Cerbera laughs, putting on another smile. He looks tempted to reach out and pat Amarys’ shoulder, but manages to stop himself. “Just because I won doesn't mean that you don't care enough. You're doing everything you can, just like I am. You care about him just as much as I do.” She's clearly attempting to cheer Amarys up, but even so, she sounds completely honest and sincere in her words.
Amarys seems to silently consider Cerbera's words, her eyes closed, head tilted down towards the floor. “Cerbera… You truly are a kind person.” When she looks back up at Cerbera, there's an obvious gratitude in her eyes.
Cerbera smiles softly at the compliment, and they seem to have their own gratitude reflected in their expression. “I promise, I'll do whatever I can to help. Whatever it takes, alright?” They offer out a hand for Amarys to shake. Amarys curiously looks down at the extended hand, before carefully taking it in her own.
“Thank you. That… is all I can ask of you.” Amarys smiles back, and as the two shake hands, the video ends.]

[IMAGE ID: A photo taken in the Canyon Biome of Blueberry Academy's Terarium. Cernuus the Koraidon is soaring through the sky, in the middle of expertly maneuvering through a giant, floating hoop. Cerbera sits atop, hands in the air, hair flowing behind them. He looks beyond excited, with his mouth open in a laugh. Cernuus looks to be having some fun too!]
[Tally has uploaded an audio file! Will you listen to it?]
[Yes!]
[The audio is already picking up the sounds of indistinct chatter, with the device appearing to be in a gathering spot of some kind within the academy. Nothing interesting of note is heard for several moments, but before long, Cerbera's voice is heard clearly.
“Oh, uh, hey there.” They seem to address someone, curiosity and confusion present in their voice.
The voice replies with a quiet greeting, barely heard through the recording above the chatter of surrounding students. They seem to ask a question of some kind, but the specifics aren't easily identifiable.
“Oh, you saw all that? Yeah, that was me. I'm an exchange student here, but I got enough recommendations that they let me in and advance to go through the Elite Four.” Cerbera begins explaining. “Name's–”
“Cerbera.” The feminine voice interrupts, and though it's finally distinguishable, it's still quiet. “Cerbera, right?” They look for confirmation, voice quick and to the point, as if trying to speak as minimally as possible.
“Oh, uh, yeah. You a fan or something?” Cerbera laughs, though it's tinged with some awkwardness and nervousness. As if realizing this, the other voice hesitates for a moment.
“No. Just heard about you.” They clarify, lightly tapping their fingers against the table. “We should talk. I have information. That you might need.” The voice pauses, seeming to wait for Cerbera's reply. When they're met with stunned silence, they reluctantly continue.
“Multiverse.”
“Shit…” Cerbera breathes. “Okay, yeah, we should talk. How do you know about that? Does anybody else?” Her voice turns more serious now, the awkwardness having completely vanished.
“No. A weird person told me. At least, I think it was.” They pause again, as if considering their own words. “Said they knew you, but you didn't know them. Speaks in riddles. Laughs at nothing.” Another pause. They seem to realize that they may be getting off topic.
“It said I was supposed to be in your place. Things changed. Now you're the lead.” The voice's tone changes a bit, as if the person behind it is becoming more uncomfortable or conflicted.
“You're…” Cerbera trails off, disbelief lacing their voice. For a moment, neither speak, and the only sounds are the distant conversations of the academy's other students.
“Second-rate replacement.” Cerbera laughs to themself, but the sound is bitter, tainted by the remnants of a long-felt resentment, something buried that's finally risen to the surface again. “Right. You were the person the universe actually picked. It's… Man, it's crazy to meet you.” Cerbera laughs again, but this time, it sounds a bit warmer, as if they've chosen to set that resentment aside.
“Wasn't a coincidence.”
“I don't think so either.”
Another pause. Eventually, Cerbera speaks up to break the silence.
“I… I'm glad we're actually able to talk. What's your name?”
The voice hesitates, but eventually, they manage a quiet reply.
[The video begins in what appears to be the same battle court Cerbera had battled Crispin in, though this time, Crispin is nowhere to be seen. Instead, Drayton is seen walking into the frame to approach Cerbera, arms crossed as he studies them with a curious gaze and a practiced smile.
“Yo, champ in the making.” Drayton calls out, giving a casual salute with two fingers. Cerbera, having previously looked ready to leave, pauses in their tracks at the sight of Drayton. She blinks in confusion, before she chuckles when Drayton raises an eyebrow at her.
“You know, I'm technically already a Champion. At least, back home I am.”
“Ah-ah, you aren't home though, are you? You're in my territory.” Drayton grins, outstretching his arms in a dramatic gesture. “Maybe I'll start rethinking things when you've booted Kieran off of the throne.” At that, Cerbera's smile briefly falters, but Drayton continues nonetheless.
“You've still got a long way to go, but that's one Elite Four member beat. Things are lookin’ good for you!” Drayton encourages, seeming to act as if he hadn't even noticed his peer's frown. “Crispin's no pushover– he's just super straightforward. I think that's kinda part of his charm, y'know?” He pauses, closing his eyes as if to reminisce.
“We used to all chow down on Crispin's cooking after club activities let out. Those were the days.” He sighs, his expression turning genuinely sad for several moments. “Guess he's been worrying about the way things are, too, in his own way.” Then, his cat-like smirk returns.
“You just might be the one we need to shake things up in the League Club.” His gaze then begins to turn more curious, more analytical. “You know, I was actually watching the battle. Hope you don't mind, I was just a little curious about how our new hotshot would do.” Drayton offers a friendly smile while Cerbera raises an eyebrow at him.
“Oh, yeah? Guess I was just too focused up to notice.” Cerbera laughs, but it doesn't seem to be out of amusement. He watches Drayton with a curious expression, as if trying to decipher what his peer might be thinking.
“Riiight, focused.” Drayton grins, gaze briefly darting up towards the device recording. Cerbera seems to notice Drayton staring up at the camera lens, since they speak up before Drayton can continue.
“You've got questions.” It isn't posed as a question, but instead as a fact.
“Oh, you think?” Drayton's attention turns back towards Cerbera. “And here I thought I was being subtle.” He comments, though it's with amusement, as if he doesn't actually believe what he's saying.
Cerbera is seen biting her lip as she considers the situation, appearing to contemplate a decision. Drayton seems to notice Cerbera's indecisiveness, and he takes the opportunity to break the silence.
“Hey, no pressure here. This isn't an interrogation or anything.” His smile is still practiced and friendly, but this time, there's a bit more sincerity behind it. “As long as it doesn't stop you from getting the job done, then it's none of my business.” He shrugs, though it's a bit more exaggerated and dramatic, as if he's trying to make Cerbera laugh.
“I just don't know if you'll believe me.” Cerbera laughs, amusement mixing with nervousness as they run a hand through their long hair.
“Hey, what's a friendship without a little trust?” Drayton reaches over to firmly pat Cerbera's shoulder, now standing adjacent to Cerbera, facing the opposite direction. “I'll be around if you ever wanna chat. But, you should know I'm not the only one with questions.” Without another word, he begins walking away to leave at a leisurely pace.
Cerbera opens her mouth to speak, but shuts it again as soon as Drayton gets out of range. She furrows her brows in confusion, and as she glances up at the camera with a suspicious expression, the video ends.]
[The video begins in a large battle court, with walls built up of white cubes, and tiled floors that appear a light orange color. Cerbera and Crispin stand together in the center of the field, seeming to be having a conversation before the battle officially begins.
“Well, that wraps up the trial, so now it's time to face me in an elite battle!” Crispin grins widely, sounding genuinely excited for the match. “You all prepped and ready to take me on?” He asks, lifting an arm to sling a frying pan over his shoulder, clearly trying not to bounce about in anticipation.
“Yeah, ready as I'll ever be.” Cerbera laughs, briefly looking down at the Poké Balls on their belt before nodding their head in determination. “I'll try to give you a good battle, yeah?” He offers out his hand for Crispin to shake, and the boy widens his eyes, not seeming to have expected the gesture.
Nevertheless, he happily takes the outstretched hand and shakes it full-force, causing Cerbera's arms to bounce up and down. “Comin’ right up! Watch out, ‘cause I'm cranking up the heat!” Crispin laughs, before letting go of Cerbera's hand to excitedly rush off towards his side of the field. Cerbera noticeably chuckles at the other trainer's demeanor, before quickly trotting over to the opposite side of the court.
Once both Trainers are in position, Crispin pauses to think for a moment before he turns around. “So… Cerbera!” He calls out, and the blonde Trainer perks up at the sound of her name. “I take it there's some messy history between you and Kieran, huh?” He asks, seeming unwilling to beat around the bush.
Cerbera blinks, not seeming to have expected the sudden question. They consider it, before reluctantly sighing and nodding their head. “Yeah, I… I guess so, huh? It's snowballed into something bigger than I'd expected. I didn't mean to hurt him, but…” She shakes her head. “I'm gonna do what I can to help. Can't just leave him like this.” He nods more confidently now, and a softer smile appears on Crispin's face.
“And Drayton? Sure seems like he's cookin’ up something fishy, too…” He tilts his head, taking another moment to try and think.
“Drayton's hard to read, but I think he wants to fix things up too. In his own way, at least.” Cerbera answers, huffing in amusement as he watches Crispin attempt to concentrate.
Still thinking, Crispin slowly nods his head, before he suddenly seems to give up and lets out a loud, frustrated noise. “Everything's getting so complicated! I'm glad you wanna help, but, but… Can't you all just get over yourselves?!” He shouts out, clenching his frying pan with both hands. “If you wanna say something, just say it! If you wanna do something, just do it!” He groans in exasperation, suddenly gentling his hold on the frying pan as he leans back and looks up towards the Terarium's ceiling.
“You've got a point there.” Cerbera laughs, lifting a hand up to sheepishly rub at the back of their neck, seeming momentarily taken aback by Crispin's energy.
“Exactly, thank you! I'm not the kinda guy who wastes time sweating the small stuff!” Crispin goes right back to grinning, beginning to laugh before Cerbera can elaborate further. “I battle because I wanna battle! And you know what? That's how it should be!” With a new determination, Crispin focuses back onto Cerbera.
“I'm Crispin, the Elite Four rep in this here Savanna Biome! I wanna win, so that's exactly what I'll do!” His positive energy rapidly begins to return as he speaks, almost as if trying to hype himself up. “Let's do this, Cerbera!” He grins, wide enough to show his teeth as he throws a Quick Ball up into the air. After catching it in his frying pan and throwing it about, he launches it back into his hand again.
“Hey, nice trick! Think you could teach me something like that?” Cerbera grins, showing off their own teeth as they reach for a Poké Ball of their own.
“Maybe if you win!” Crispin laughs. “Now then, time to get cooking– wait, no! Time to start battling!” After quickly correcting himself, he wastes no further time before sending out his first two Pokémon, a Talonflame and a Rotom in its Heat Form.
As Cerbera sends out their own pair of Pokémon, their body goes tense and rigid, taking up its usual battling position with forced movements. Nymphaea the Floatzel appears on the left side, and Mezereum the Clodsire appears on the right. For a brief moment, Cerbera's eyes widen at the sight of the Electric Type.
“Alright, Talonflame, Sunny Day! Rotom, Will-O-Wisp that Floatzel!”
“Nymphaea, Liquidation. Mezereum, Spikes.”
Each Pokémon follows through with their commands, but although Nymphaea does hit Talonflame for super-effective damage, the water's efficiency is dampened by the sun. Seeming worried of a potential Electric Type move, Cerbera opts to switch Nymphaea out for Snapdragon the Skeledirge.
Before any Pokémon can move, Talonflame rushes forward, delivering a devastating Flare Blitz attack to the opposing Clodsire. However, despite being burned, Mezereum hangs on, and even manages to poison the Talonflame with her Poison Point ability. Rotom uses Thunderbolt on Snapdragon, who also survives, and Mezereum finally moves last to set up a second layer of spikes.
“Flare Blitz again! Rotom, you use Overheat! Scorch ‘em, guys!”
Talonflame nods, and cloaks itself in bright flames as it flies straight towards Mezereum. With the damage increased by the blistering sun, the Clodsire finally goes down. As Snapdragon easily tanks a resisted Overheat from the Rotom, Cerbera remains stone-cold, but Crispin seems too wrapped up in the battle to properly notice it.
“Shadow Ball.”
Wisps of ghostly energy begin to gather in Snapdragon's mouth, quickly forming into an orb before it's launched straight towards Rotom. With a calculated movement and a distant expression, Cerbera moves to reach for a new Poké Ball, and promptly send out Kauense the Hisuian Arcanine to replace Mezereum.
A Brave Bird from Talonflame quickly takes down Snapdragon, but with the poison and recoil damage gradually chipping away at them, it suddenly falls, zipping into its Poké Ball just before it hits the floor. After another Overheat from Rotom, Cerbera manages to score again as Kauense takes it down with a powerful Head Smash.
As Snapdragon is replaced by Lycoris the Basculegion, Crispin sends out an Exeggutor and Camerupt to replace his own fallen Pokémon. Both of Crispin's Pokémon take damage from the layers of spikes, but his smile doesn't falter, still appearing to remain confident, especially after Kauense misses his next Head Smash attack.
“Phantom Force.” Cerbera calls out, looking a bit too composed as they call out the command. Luckily, the Basculegion follows through, and quickly disappears from the field before it can be hit by Exeggutor's powered-up Solar Beam.
Crispin briefly pouts as the Solar Beam ends up shooting right through where the Basculegion had been floating just moments before. However, his disappointment doesn't last long as he turns his attention towards Cerbera's Hisuian Arcanine. “Earth Power!” He grins, pointing his frying pan in the Pokémon's direction. Kauense is hit hard, and it doesn't take much longer before he's sent back to his Poké Ball. Just as Camerupt finishes its attack, the harsh sunlight slowly begins to fade from the battlefield.
Cerbera briefly furrows their brows, but takes the opportunity to send Nymphaea back out onto the field. As the Floatzel reappears, Lycoris does as well, nailing a super-effective hit on the Exeggutor that causes it to faint. After managing to survive an Earth Power, Nymphaea takes out a Pokémon of her own as a four-times effective Liquidation causes Camerupt to faint.
Crispin's light disappointment seems to briefly return as the two Pokémon return to the safety of their Poké Balls, but he quickly shakes his head, and looks more determined than ever not even a moment later. When he sends out his next two Pokémon, a Magmortar and a Blaziken, he reaches down to grab a familiar looking device.
“Time to Terastallize and really turn up the heat! Go on, Blaziken! Burn bright red!” He encourages, tossing his Tera Orb into his frying pan. He carefully balances it inside as Terastal energy gathers around it, causing the orb to gently shake in the pan. As he throws it up and back into his hand, crystals begin to surround Blaziken, and cause it to Terastallize into a pure Fire Type.
“Now, Magmortar! Use Sunny Day!”
“Nymphaea, Liquidation!”
Although the Water Type attack isn't as effective due to the sun and the Passho Berry, the very next Liquidation attack manages to take Magmortar out. Lycoris survives a super-effective Shadow Claw from Blaziken, and nearly manages to take it out after a strong Liquidation attack of his own. Unfortunately, Lycoris doesn't get the opportunity to do much else as it takes itself down with its own Life Orb recoil.
The only Pokémon left on the field are Nymphaea and Blaziken, and after growing even faster due to its Speed Boost ability, it's able to move before Nymphaea. However, just as it fires off a Focus Blast, Nymphaea manages to leap upwards and out of the way. She sails across the field, and after a final Liquidation attack that causes Blaziken to faint, the battle is narrowly won.
As soon as the battle concludes, Cerbera nearly stumbles over as every muscle in their body seems to suddenly release all at once. Crispin blinks in surprise, before he suddenly begins to laugh and jump around in joy as he runs over to meet his opponent.
“Wooo! That was amazing! We cranked the heat all the way up, eh, Cerbera?” He shouts, raising his arms up into the air, frying pan included.
Cerbera hesitates, staring at him with an almost startled expression, as if still reeling from the state the battle had them in. “Yeah… That was a close one, huh? If your Blaziken had managed to land that attack, then…” She trails off, but Crispin doesn't allow the silence to linger for very long.
“I know, right?!” Crispin laughs, pumping a fist into the air. “That might've been one of the most intense battles I've had in a good minute! They always get me all fired up, which is exactly how I like them!” He enthuses, not even bothering to stop and wait for Cerbera to reply.
“I love battles and I love cooking ‘cause they're both so easy to understand! In battles, you either win or lose! With cooking, your dish is either spicy or not spicy! Simple, right?” He grins, resting both hands against his hips.
“I… Well, I guess you've actually got a bit of a point there.” Cerbera laughs, lifting a hand to run it through their hair as they seem to genuinely consider Crispin's words. "But, you know, there are more flavors than--"
“See?! I'm glad you agree with me, Cerbs!” Crispin grins proudly, but as the silence stretches for a beat longer, Crispin's smile begins to falter.
“But right now, the mood in the League Club feels… I dunno, off. It's so frustrating… I wish we could go back to bein’ the fun club we were before… back when it was simpler.” He sighs, his previous enthusiasm dampening.
Cerbera frowns, expression instantly softening into sympathy as he reaches out to gently pat Crispin's shoulder. “... It won't be like this forever, alright? I promise. Things'll change, and I'll do my best to make sure it's for the better.” He reassures, but as he glances down towards one of his Poké Balls, he seems to briefly appear a bit worried himself.
Sensing the mood has changed, Crispin quickly shakes his head, as if to snap himself out of his own thoughts. “Aw, thanks! But hey, didn't mean to douse the flames there. You were real strong, Cerbera! Lemme see if I can transfer the burning heat from our battle to my frying pan!” Suddenly, Crispin has turned around, already amped right back up. “I'll whip you up something great!” Without another word, he runs off, but not before yelling out for Cerbera to follow him.
Cerbera pauses, quietly standing in place for several moments. They glance up at the camera with a wary expression, before they too shake their head and walk off after Crispin. The video ends there.]

[Tally has posted two videos! Will you watch them?]
[Yes!]
[The video begins in what appears to be a school cafeteria, with students in varying styles of the Blueberry Academy uniform standing about or sitting at the tables. At one of the tables sits Drayton arms and head resting on the surface, and as Cerbera is seen walking in, the camera focuses on them both. Cerbera, now in a Blueberry Academy uniform, surveys the area before walking over towards Drayton and taking a seat beside him.
“This your idea of a ‘date'?” Cerbera laughs as they sit down, curiously taking the iced water that Drayton slides over towards them.
“Yup. This is the place to be, trust me.” Drayton grins, not bothering to lift his head up, chin hovering just above his arms. “Here's the Drayster take: The Academy's Special's the best thing on the menu. It's all so soft, you can basically just gulp it down. Barely even need to chew.” As soon as Drayton finishes speaking, there's a brief, shocked silence from Cerbera.
“What the fuck?” He eventually snorts in laughter, shaking his head in disbelief. “Dude, chew your food. Nasty.” Despite the insult, they don't seem to be entirely sincere, too busy trying to restrain laughter.
“Ouch! Man, you and my ma might get along.” Drayton doesn't seem at all offended, his grin remaining a moment longer before his expression turns a bit serious. “So listen– your Pokémon are pretty strong, yeah? With a team like that, you've got a shot at becoming the BB League Champion.” He doesn't bother to reach for his own drink as he speaks, instead staying focused on Cerbera.
“Which would involve beating Kieran.” Cerbera frowns, slowly nodding with what seems to be a new understanding.
“Bingo. Wouldn't that be wild? An exchange student just rolling up here and snatching the crown? I wanna see you join the BB League, Cerbera. You in?” He tilts his head the slightest bit, as if trying to silently invite them.
Before Cerbera can give a proper answer, Drayton's gaze shoots towards the entrance of the cafeteria. “Look who's decided to grace us with their presence.” He subtly gestures with his head, and as Cerbera follows his gaze, her eyes widen.
Four students file in through the Cafeteria's entrance, moving to stand behind the chairs on the opposite side of Cerbera and Drayton's table. There's the stiff student Carmine had spoken to in the last recording, then Lacey, Kieran, and an unfamiliar student with bright red hair and a chef's jacket.
Students nearby gasp as their attention turns towards the new appearances, some pointing out Champion Kieran, while others murmur about the academy's Elite Four members. After his gawking, Cerbera's head suddenly whips towards Drayton, eyes widening in some kind of realization. Drayton, meanwhile, doesn't react much at all.
“... What did you want to talk to me about?” Kieran frowns, voice unnaturally serious as he completely hones in on Drayton. Lacey seems a bit unsure, while the red-haired student curiously watches Cerbera for a few moments.
“Nothing special. Just thought we could grab a bite.” Drayton responds coolly, completely unintimidated. “Where better to do that than the cafeteria?” He doesn't bother to offer a smile, just subtly tilts his head, almost as if trying to challenge Kieran.
Lacey and the other Elite Four members look over towards Kieran, waiting to see how he might react. However, Kieran just closes his eyes and shakes his head. “What a waste of time…” Now, he sounds completely disinterested, and when his eyes open again, they narrow at Drayton. “If you've got so much time to goof off, why don't you go train your Pokémon? You think maybe this is why you always lose to me?” He shoots back, voice becoming a bit sharper.
“Okay, what the actual fuck is going on? Like, what are we doing here?” Cerbera suddenly speaks up, gesturing around the table with an awkward, confused expression. Suddenly, Kieran's eyes dart towards Cerbera, and for a moment, that icy demeanor breaks. He looks shocked, nearly startling backwards entirely.
Before anyone can reply, Drayton takes the lead with a condescending smile. “Come on, Kieran. I can't swing a lunch date with you, even if I've got your ol’ pal with me? Kinda rude, don't you think?” Drayton leans over, briefly draping an arm around Cerbera and shaking them a bit. Cerbera shoots him a look, but ultimately allows it to happen.
“C-Cerbera–?!” Kieran stammers, the sharp edge in his voice disappearing, too shocked to keep it up.
“Uh, hi Kieran.” Cerbera briefly waves, raising a brow in suspicion as she looks Kieran up and down. “... I think we're gonna have to talk at some point.” She frowns, moving to cross her arms as she waits for Kieran's response.
“Wh-why…?” Kieran doesn't seem to be replying directly to Cerbera's words as he tenses up. Seeing as Kieran appears lost for words, Drayton takes the opportunity to continue.
“You didn't hear that she was coming to study abroad here?” Drayton almost tries to sound genuinely curious, but it's clear that he already knows the answer.
“For real?” Kieran gasps, tilting his head over to look towards Lacey. The Trainer nods her head in confirmation.
“Yes, it's true. Director Cyrano introduced her to me when we met at the school's entrance.” She explains, watching as Kieran falls into another silence.
“We're alright tight, us two.” Drayton smiles, seeming to try and play innocent for a moment. “In fact, I was just asking Cerbera to join the BB League!” He explains, causing both Lacey and Kieran's eyes to widen.
“Ooh, I like it! That'd be fire!” The redhead gives a wide, excited grin, slinging a sleek, steel frying pan over his shoulder. Lacey turns over towards them in shocked confusion, as if unable to believe that they'd even suggest such a thing.
“A student from another school joining the BB League? Unprecedented.” The girl to Lacey's right finally speaks up, lifting a gloved hand up to adjust her glasses as she seems to contemplate the possibility.
“Wait, seriously?” Cerbera blinks in confusion, briefly looking back towards Drayton. “What, is there, like, some kind of rule against it?” Drayton just quietly shrugs his shoulders in response to Cerbera's question.
“Th-that's right!” Lacey nods as she looks towards the girl beside her, then towards Cerbera and Drayton. “Cerbera may be wonderfully capable in battle, but that doesn't mean she belongs in the BB League…” She bites her lip once she meets Cerbera's gaze, looking a bit reluctant to have to deny her new friend.
“Aw, c'mon. Do you all hate fun and friendship or something?” Drayton sighs in disappointment, looking between Lacey and the student beside her. Then, his eyes almost seem to narrow a bit as he addresses the entire group. “You wanna exclude someone who's taking our same classes and living in our same dorms? How's she not one of us?!” Despite his challenge, Drayton retains his relaxed and unbothered posture.
“Hey, I don't want this to turn into a whole argument.” Cerbera pipes back up, looking a bit concerned for a moment. “It'd be great to join, yeah, but not if it's gonna cause a bunch of issues.” He rubs the back of his neck, shooting Lacey an apologetic look.
“Nah, don't worry. I've got a better idea.” Drayton smiles. “Isn't this place supposed to be all about students having autonomy? I think we should vote on it.” He decides, causing Lacey and the rest of the group to exchange glances amongst one another. “I'm a yes, obviously. How ‘bout you, Lacey?” He asks, causing Lacey to furrow her brows at him.
“I… I'm sorry, but considering the rules, it's a no from me.” Lacey sighs, but upon seeing Cerbera give an understanding nod, she relaxes a bit. Unconcerned by Lacey's response, Drayton turns to the redheaded student next.
“What about you, Crispin?” He smiles in satisfaction now, seeming to already know the answer to his question.
“Huh? Yeah, why not! She's at our school. That makes her a student like us, right?” Crispin gives another cheery grin, before looking to the others for approval. Kieran doesn't even react, Lacey slowly shakes her head, and the last member silently raises a single brow.
“How ‘bout you, Amarys? Whaddya say?” Drayton finally looks towards the girl in glasses, the one familiar with Carmine. She takes a moment, closing her eyes as she thinks.
“I abide by the rules of this institution. Proposition declined.” Amarys decides with a firm shake of her head, causing Cerbera to look the slightest bit disappointed. Drayton hums in consideration, looking over the entire group.
“Two against two, huh.” He suddenly looks over towards Kieran, expression analytical and expectant. “All right, then! What says the reigning BB League Champion, our mighty Kieran?” Drayton gives him another innocent smile, and now, all eyes are on the younger student.
Kieran pauses for a considerable amount of time, looking down towards the tiled floor before he comes to his final decision. “It doesn't matter who I'm facing…” He begins, the coldness beginning to seep back into his voice as he lifts his head again. “I don't lose.” He looks directly at Cerbera, eyes narrowing. Cerbera, however, doesn't falter, only narrowing her own eyes back, ready to challenge him.
“Guess we've got our answer.” Drayton chuckles, watching Kieran and Cerbera with open interest. Eventually, Kieran finally breaks away from Cerbera's gaze, and begins silently walking off towards the cafeteria's exit.
“Ah! Kieran, wait–!” Lacey reaches a hand out as if to stop him, but finds that she's too late. With an annoyed huff, she turns her attention back towards her fellow Elite Four member. “Drayton! Manipulating people to get what you want– it's just not right!” She shakes her head and crosses her arms together in disapproval, before quickly following after Kieran.
Amarys is next to follow, and with a curious expression, Crispin trails behind. Though, for a moment, he stops to turn around and wave at Cerbera. Cerbera gives a thumbs-up, and Crispin gives another smile before rushing off to catch up with the rest of his group.
“Well, I guess everything worked out in the end.” Cerbera shakes their head and reaches for their glass of water. “As well as it could have gone, at least.” Drayton solemnly nods his head with exaggerated disappointment as he watches Cerbera down the cold water.
“Sorry, Cerbera…” This time, Drayton actually seems sincere in what he says. “Guess you'll be joining the BB League, huh?” Then, his disappointment quickly shifts as he crosses his arms to think. “Well, let's look on the bright side! Maybe you and Kieran'll come out of this better friends! Don't worry, I'll be behind you. Every step of the way.” He encourages, firmly patting Cerbera's shoulder.
Suddenly, Cerbera uses their elbow to reach over and jab Drayton in the side, causing him to gasp and nearly fall sideways out of his chair. “Lacey's right, you know. I'm with you on getting Kieran out of that Champion position, but you could at least be more subtle about it.” She places her glass back down on the table to give Drayton a look.
“Oh, really?” Drayton laughs, quickly moving to rebalance himself, eyeing Cerbera with a new curiosity.
Cerbera quietly nods his head and hums in agreement. “He's abusing his role, and he's gotten all angry and apathetic. I have a feeling he's become a Champion for all the wrong reasons.” He frowns, tilting his head to glance back over towards Drayton. “If I can't get through to him otherwise, then he's gonna need a major wake up call. Whatever your plan is, I'll be willing to help.” They conclude with a stiff nod.
There's a beat of silence, before Drayton suddenly breaks out into a wide grin and lifts himself up. “Sounds like we're on the same page, then. Glad to see someone else who's ready to do something about this whole mess.”
“Anyways, now that that decision's been made, we better get you officially signed up.” He moves to stand up from his chair, stretching out and raising an arm upwards.
“Meet me at the reception desk in the school's entrance area!” Without another word, Drayton walks off, not even bothering to wait for Cerbera to stand up.
Cerbera watches Drayton leave with a raised brow, before eventually lifting themself out of their own chair and quietly following after him. As Cerbera leaves, the video ends.]
[The second video begins at the school's entrance, showing Cerbera and Drayton both standing in front of the receptionist desk, seeming to be mid-conversation with the woman behind it.
“Ah. It says here that you're an exchange student, which means you're not technically enrolled here at our academy…” The woman speaks, looking down towards her computer with a disappointed expression. Drayton, not missing a beat, is quick to interrupt.
“Oh, don't mind that!” He laughs, waving his hand in dismissal. “We Elite Four talked it over real quick. My friend here's good to join.” He reassures, giving the older woman a smile and a wink. Cerbera just snorts in amusement and tries to focus on the receptionist instead of Drayton.
“I don't mean to sound rude, but I'm not sure if I can take what you say at face value, Drayton…” The receptionist frowns, looking between Cerbera and Drayton with a conflicted expression.
“Oh, has Drayton got a reputation for lying?” Cerbera smirks, tilting their head just enough to glance at Drayton out of their periphery.
“Aw, come on! Have some faith in me here! I'm trying to help you out, you know.” Drayton sighs, slumping over a bit in disappointment. However, before either of them can continue the conversation, Kieran and Carmine are seen walking into frame.
“No, he's telling the truth.” Kieran interrupts, voice cold and almost annoyed as he briefly looks over Drayton with open disapproval. “I'm allowing Cerbera to join the BB League.” He clarifies, looking up at the receptionist with a deadly calm. Carmine looks uncomfortable standing beside him, but slowly nods her head in confirmation.
The receptionist gasps, before quickly ducking back down to fiddle with her computer. “Yes, Champion! One moment, please…” She gives a nervous smile, trying to avoid direct eye contact with the younger student. Cerbera crosses her arms together as she watches Kieran, remaining unfazed whenever their gazes meet. Drayton, meanwhile, observes Kieran with one brow raised.
“Didn't expect you to ride up in shining armor and save the day.” Drayton crosses his own arms and chuckles, though there's no real amusement behind it.
“I've got a feeling you're trying to play puppet master…” Kieran looks away from Drayton's insistent staring and towards the sleek floor with an annoyed expression. At that, the taller student briefly grins. “But if I get a shot at battling Cerbera, then that's fine by me.” Kieran completely ignores Drayton now as he lifts his head back up to look straight at Cerbera.
“... Uh-huh.” Cerbera huffs, still unintimidated by Kieran's demeanor.
Drayton continues to subtly glance between Cerbera and Kieran, and as the two fall into a brief silence, a small laugh slips out. “That's just peachy, then.” At that, Kieran shoots him a nasty look, before his attention turns back to Cerbera.
“Cerbera…” He closes his eyes and takes a breath to calm himself. Then, when his eyes open again, he looks almost angry. “You better not go losing to anyone until our battle.” Kieran tries to make his gaze more intense, purposefully narrowing his eyes at Cerbera.
“Kieran.” Cerbera keeps her arms crossed, completely unbothered as she looks down at Kieran. For a moment, her expression looks annoyed, before it softens into something akin to sympathy and disappointment. Eventually, she just sighs and shakes her head.
“You know I won't lose.” He finally speaks up again, and the entire interaction nearly has Kieran bristling. “You also know that we need to actually sit down and–”
“No, we don't.” Kieran interrupts swiftly, cutting him off with a sharp edge to his voice. Cerbera's voice briefly shifts back to one of annoyance, before that too fades. “All I need from you… is to win until you reach me.” He looks down, and suddenly, a wide, unsettling grin splits his face at the idea of it.
“I'm not a little kid anymore. And you'll know it when I show you how the best of the best battle.” Soon enough, that malicious grin is gone, instead replaced by that eerie calm, where anger boils beneath the surface. As Kieran turns around to leave, Carmine looks over at her brother in open concern, and finally opens her mouth to speak.
“Kiki! You shouldn't talk to Cerbera like that…” She frowns, taking a hesitant step forward, almost as if to approach and stop Kieran.
“Shut it, sis.” Kieran hisses, and suddenly, Cerbera's gaze sharpens with anger.
“You don't have to act like this around us, you know. This tough guy act isn't who you are, Kieran.” Cerbera ignores the gazes of both Drayton and Carmine as her own focuses on Kieran's back.
“Shut. Up.” Kieran snarls, voice quieting with barely restrained anger. “You don't get to tell me who I am. Things are different now, Cerbera.” He doesn't move his head, doesn't bother turning around or looking back. “I'll show you what I really am when I finally beat you.” As Kieran speaks, Cerbera's fists clench as their sides, and they seem to be fighting back the urge to start arguing back.
“Looking forward to seeing you climb the ranks.” He scoffs, and without another word, he walks off until he disappears from the video's footage. Carmine remains silent, stepping back again as she watches Kieran leave.
“Fucking hell, man.”
“Another excellent display from our school's proud Champion. You see now why talking hasn't gotten through to him?”
“Shut it, Drayton!” Carmine hisses, shaking her fist at him in annoyance and exasperation. When she turns her attention back to Cerbera, she tries to force herself to calm down. “I'm sorry, Cerbera! I hate ever having to agree with Drayton, but… Kiki was really acting out, wasn't he? That was my first time talking to him in a while, too. Man, such an attitude…” She sighs, averting her gaze away from both Cerbera and Drayton to instead look towards the floor.
“Because he barely talks to you, right?” Cerbera frowns, walking over to Carmine and gently patting her shoulder as a small act of comfort. “Probably a dumb question, but, like, have you tried talking to him instead?” He suggests.
“Kind of hard to hold a conversation with someone who treats everyone like dirt.” His voice turns a bit more serious and disgruntled now, briefly staring off in the direction Kieran had walked off into. “He's Mr. Big-Deal Mighty Champion, after all.” He hums, and it sounds like a joke, but there's no laughter in his voice.
At Drayton's voice, Carmine's head suddenly whips around, and her eyes narrow in suspicion. “Drayton, you're the one who dragged Cerbera into all this BB League drama, aren't you?!” She accuses, clenching her fists with a frustrated expression.
“Me? No way. This was all her idea!” Drayton calmly argues back, pointing towards Cerbera with his thumb. “Right, Cerbera?” He turns slightly so that he can face Cerbera, tilting his head and smiling at them.
Cerbera just snorts in amusement and shakes her head in disbelief. “Yeah, totally.” For a moment, she plays along, causing Drayton to grin and Carmine to groan in irritation. After some brief laughter, however, Cerbera's voice turns more sincere. “No, but seriously, I did actually agree to it. Te prometo.” He lifts a hand, and with the other, forces two fingers to cross together.
“That's the spirit. Feeling that human urge to do great things, right?” Drayton encourages, his smile only growing as Carmine shoots him a warning look.
“I dunno, I think something fishy's going on…” Carmine frowns, continuing to eye Drayton with open suspicion. However, when she looks back at Cerbera, her expression noticeably softens. “But, well… if you're gonna do this, you might as well do your best. I'll be cheering for you.” She gently smiles, and Cerbera returns it with a confident nod.
“I will. Me and my team both.” He assures, voice completely serious, but with a gentle edge to it.
“Good. And please… keep an eye on Kiki for me.” She turns around, looking nearly ready to leave as well.
There's the briefest pause from Cerbera, before they nod their head once again. “... Yeah. I will.” At their agreement, Carmine's shoulders noticeably relax.
“Thank you, Cerbera.” Carmine sighs, her voice noticeably quieter before she walks off, leaving Drayton and Cerbera behind. As the conversation ends, the receptionist takes the opportunity to finally speak up again.
“Um… Thank you for waiting! Your entry into the BB League is complete!” The woman smiles, though it's clear that she's rather confused by the entire scene that played out in front of her.
“Great timing.” Drayton smiles, nudging Cerbera's shoulder with his own as they both turn around towards the desk.
“Thank you, by the way. Sorry for all the trouble.” Cerbera smiles sheepishly, seeming to be trying to remain polite where they can.
“It's no problem at all.” She smiles reassuringly, gaze briefly flickering towards her computer, then back towards them as she nods. “Cerbera is cleared to compete in the BB League!” She announces, before turning her attention towards Cerbera directly, beginning to move back into the comfortable professionalism.
“Usually, you'd start by battling regular students and climbing the ranks… But seeing as how you've got recommendations from several Elite Four members and Director Cyrano, you'll start from a higher rank.” She begins explaining, Cerbera looking surprised by the new information. “You'll skip straight to challenging the Elite Four at their respective bases in the Terarium. Once you clear their trials, that is.”
“Oh, just like the Gym Tests back home.” She smiles at the memory, causing the receptionist to briefly look confused. However, without missing a beat, she continues.
“I'll go ahead and mark their locations in your Rotom Phone now!” As soon as the receptionist mentions a Rotom Phone, the device recording zips down to float in front of the desk. The receptionist behind it looks surprised, but Drayton simply smiles in recognition. Then, once the process has finished, the device returns to its usual spot above.
“... To challenge the Elite Four, you'll need BP, which you can earn by doing BBQs. Then, if you defeat all the members of the Elite Four, you can challenge the Champion.”
“Sounds simple enough.” Cerbera nods, seeming to quietly process all of the information.
“Hopefully it is in practice! Best of luck in the BB League!” She gives a friendly wave, and after Cerbera briefly waves back, they turn towards Drayton expectantly, almost as if knowing he'd have something to say.
“You can start with whichever of us you want. Your call.” Drayton elaborates, and for a moment, Cerbera's expression turns into a strange, conflicted look. Drayton, acting as if he hadn't seen anything at all, continues regardless. “Any time you want to battle one of us, you'll have to do a fun little trial we cooked up first. But, seems like you might already have some experience with that, huh?” He grins, expression relaxed and friendly.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Cerbera laughs in agreement, rubbing the back of their neck as they do. “I'll make sure to get through these as soon as I can. I'll be ready.” He assures, trying to give his peer a confident smile.
“That's all I need to hear! Catch you in the Terarium bud!” Drayton claps Cerbera on the shoulder, before happily waving as he saunters off back into the school. “Don't keep me waiting too long, you hear?” He calls out as he leaves, and Cerbera doesn't reply, instead restraining quiet laughter and waving back.
Once Drayton seems to have left, Cerbera releases a long sigh. They glance up towards the camera with an unamused, almost tired expression, and as they dramatically shrug, the video ends.]
