Worst season finale ever

After last night’s season finale, Supernatural is over for me. I’m sorry.

I’ve mentioned it before, that if nothing really changes on the show, I’m quitting it after this season. Post-10.13, I have an inkling that it might actually happen.

And after 10 seasons, SPN and I are finally over.

I won’t abandon this blog. And I’m still a big fan of Misha Collins. I’m just no longer a fan of Supernatural.

So it’s okay if you will be unfollowing me from now on. I won’t be mad. I will also be unfollowing a few of you, SPN diehards/positive people. I just don’t want to have anything about the show on my dash anymore.

Unless it’s Misha. Or Castiel. Well, there are things that you can’t let go just yet. *shrugs*

I have fun getting to know all of you, my fellow SPN, Castiel and Destiel peeps. I’ll miss you guys!

Feminist vandals are giving this beach body ad the upgrade it deserves 

Commuters on the London Underground this month were treated to a series of advertisements for U.K. dietary supplement manufacturer Protein World, featuring their “weight loss collection” alongside an ultra-thin woman with the caption: “Are you beach body ready?“ The U.K.’s feminist community was less than receptive to this obvious shaming tactic — and made their voices heard. There are plenty more where the above came from.

People are assuming that Jensen changed that line about Cas saving the world without any proof. Robbie Thompson said he first wrote the line in a slightly different way so everyone jumps in and says Jensen changed it. No matter who changed it, I hate that line because it's just one more example of Sam being disregarded. He sacrificed everything in Swan Song and now we're supposed to give Cas all the credit for saving the world. It's sad and it makes me really upset.

but Dean’s words are.not.a.gospel. they never are. 

He was trying to comfort Claire, to reassure her her dad’s sacrifice was something huge, that the world couldn’t be w/o his sacrifice. 

Yes I want Dean to tell Sam ‘you saved the world’ but i just don’t see how this relates to Claire? 

‘Hey Claire, your dad sacrificed his body so Sam can get to save the world’ is just off. this would make Claire think her dad was just a tool for the Winchesters. 

Dean wnated her to think he dad and him alone saved the world. and is it that bad, to let a girl who’s dad was taken from her, to believe it was for the greatest purpose of all? 

By letting her believe that, he actually saves her, a little, and comforts her a lot.

CONTEXT IS IMPORTANT.

Why are they assuming saving the world was a singular event? It was a journey on a road, and a winding, meandering road at that. Sam saved the world. Dean saved the world. Bobby saved the world. Crowley saved the world. Jimmy saved the world. And yeah, Castiel saved the world.

Yeah, I’m kinda baffled at the whole There Can Only Be One attitude that some anons & some people on twitter have been showing. Dean saying that Cas (and thus Jimmy sacrificing himself to Cas) saved the world doesn’t mean that Dean doesn’t also think that Sam has saved the world. But Claire isn’t Sam’s daughter, so why would Dean be talking up Sam at this point? She doesn’t have any beef with Sam; he doesn’t need to talk Sam up to her.

Oh that’s true, maybe the Mark helped Dean. But like Cas just seemed so freaking weak during that fight???? And yeah, wtf why would SAM take it better than him? Poorly thought out fight sequence. Cas didn’t have to be a damsel in distress for Claire to save him, she coulda just jumped into the fight anytime.

Um, why can’t Cas bring Amelia back to life? Even if he can’t totally heal her? Would she just be too sick to live very long after what the grigori did or something?

So Metatron asked Cas a very valid question last week; what is your purpose now? He had temporary ones with Hannah and the Novaks, but that's been taken care of now. So what now? Is Cas just going to wonder around aimlessly, waiting for the next temporary purpose to come fulfill him for a bit? He'll be involved with the Winchesters as always. But he'll eventually have to answer Metatron's question. What are you doing here?

I think we just got Cas’ next interim mission–tracking down the rogue Grigori.  That’s not going to be easy; they’ve been living on earth almost as long as humans, and they’ll have learned in all that time how to hide.  I don’t imagine that Heaven just left them there on earth without trying to find out if they were really all wiped out.

But you’re right, those are temporary missions.  I think we’re going to see Cas figuring out what his true mission is in the next few episodes.  He’s already pursuing it, really, and has been since he pulled Dean out of Hell.  Dean’s always been his mission, and Cas has always known that.  He hasn’t always acknowledged it to himself, though, and that’s what Metatron’s speech was all about–making Cas take a good look at himself and recognizing what’s been going on all this time.

This. Next step in the process would be Cas understanding that Dean doesn’t need to be his mission, to want to stay with him (and also with the Winchesters in general, of course).

I can see the foundation for that development here in 10.20 (in a similar way to how I could see the foundation for the ‘love’ pattern in the last scene of 8.20), especially because of the scene where Dean argues that Cas “is not [Claire’s] dad” to which Cas replies that she’s his responsibility. Dean forcing Cas to ask himself if he’s doing the right thing with Claire, and Cas wondering if Dean is right later on, seem to me like the perfect roots for the future question of whether perhaps Cas needs to let go of his idea of Dean as a mission to be able to just get to enjoy Dean.

But I’m definitely speaking ahead of time and if this is happening, I’m confident we’re talking about next year, not now.
