On the grass are ten straw-necked ibises, black birds perhaps a foot high and a bit longer with white necks, narrow legs and long, curved beaks, excellent for grubbing out food from holes and puddles. Most of the birds have their backs turned to us, choosing to ignore the intrusive human.
