okay so i don’t have a BUNCH of recs. i didn’t read that many fics before starting to write my own and i don’t really read a lot of fics when i’m actively writing out of fear i’ll unconsciously draw inspiration from them. but i’ve still got a few good ones!! i’ll put them under the cut since i don’t want this post taking up that much space

literally anything by cosmicpeonies (@cosmic-peonies). her fics are so so good, i especially love the rules of evidence and the nerve. she’s also written steal me with a kiss which is a super good, multi-chapter fake dating fic and is currently writing jealousy looks good on me which is so funny

artificialflavorz (@sentimentalslut) is also currently writing truth is whatever sells best, a multi-chapter fic about dipper and mabel coming back to gravity falls after like 5/6 years. pacifica ends up staying at the shack and there’s a mystery element involving bill and a secret someone else. it’s super well written and interesting, the friendship between mabel, paz, and wendy is just *chefs kiss*, and the dipcifica is very in character

little do you know the stars welcome you with open arms by chronicangel (@chronicangel) is a cute, short fic about pacifica being a little insecure after she cuts her hair. her and dipper are already in an established relationship, and he helps her settle her nerves about the haircut. very cute, playful dipcifica

broken links in the chain by miniminimii is a new, ongoing fic set in the relativity falls au. it starts literally the day dipper gets back from being inside the portal, and as far as i can tell it will be about him and pacifica’s relationship to each other post-portal. oh yeah, and they have a kid together! (i didn’t explain this one that well but it’s super good and i’m extremely excited to read it)

love the idea of dipcifica where Dipper is completely oblivious but Pacifica is like, painfully aware of her crush and her whole reaction is like, "ugh, really? that one? that's the one I like?" and then just starts talking to him enough that one day Dipper looks up and is like "woah are we dating?" and Pacifica goes "yeah, took you long enough to notice loser." they're both incredibly head over heels but you could never tell by looking at them.

I have this Online Artist Disease where anytime I get an idea I feel like I need to make a thing in order to deliver that idea. Like, oh, a headcanon? Time to make a 5 panel comic to illustrate this vision. Well fuck that, I don't have the damn time. DIPCIFICA HEADCANON GO:

Pacifica keeps her job at greasy's diner for a long time. She eventually finds comfort from being there, routine, having some independence with a paycheck, having lazy Susan as a (very kind and loving) parental figure, etc. And dipper, teen years, crushing on her, sometimes takes his paranormal research work over there. Camps out in one of the booths for a few hours, hoping to interact with her a bit. And hes HORRIBLY awkward. He tries playing it cool, (oh, you know, nice to take my work outside the shack for a change, heheh *sweating*) but EVERYONE knows why he's there. He orders a coffee. Maybe he doesn't even particularly like coffee. Caffeine doesn't set well with him. But he drinks it anyway so she'll come back and refill it, and he'll get a chance to, at BEST, talk with her. Usually he doesn't muster up the courage. He just smiles awkwardly and says thank you.

Lazy Susan probably makes sure Pacificas the one who waits on his table. (Pacifica is very embarrassed - she likes him too but is in denial.) Dipper just thinks he's lucky.

Eventually, when they're dating, he still goes there with his work to spend time with her.

Oh my god I love this and I also see Dipper just getting progressively more and more caffeinated and consequently more jittery and weird as the day goes on. But he just keeps asking for that darn refill if it means he’ll get a few more minutes talking with her.

In time he discovers the existence of decaf and things start to get a little bit better for him on that front.

Prom-cifica (& friends) headcanons:

Pacifica goes to GFHS for high school instead of continuing at her private school, but only after she threatened her parents with telling all the other rich kids' families about the Northwest drama if they made her go.

Yes, she's prom queen thank you very much. she's trying so hard to seem surprised and gracious about it but truthfully she was pretty sure she would win. old habits die hard. (but she doesn't win because she's a mean girl, she wins because she's actually very well-liked. and blonde and pretty, I mean, it is high school.)

Dipper makes her corsage himself (with a lot of help from Mabel) using pine tree needles (get ittt??) and a single red rose that he is still scared is "like, way too much and is definitely going to freak her out." (it doesn't. the needles are kind of itchy and sticky, but she loves it and keeps it in a memory box after the night)

Mabel really wants to go but since she and Dipper don't go to GFHS she needs a date who does. Gideon is only TOO happy to step up, but Mabel only agrees to go with him after he writes and signs a declaration stating he understands it will only be as friends. (he doesn't.)

Grenda is sad at first because it looks like Marius won't make it after all, but he ends up pulling in last minute in a helicopter blowing everyone's minds a la Romy & Michelle.

Wendy agrees to chaperone but only so she can (affectionately, in a friendly way) make fun of Robbie's band, who somehow swung the gig. (they're terrible and Wendy ends up saving the day with her iPod and an aux cord.)

The gnomes have decided this would be a great place to find a new queen so they reconfigure themselves into Norman, though it prove fruitless as Shmebulock is inexplicably chosen to be the head, and he's just not great at conversation. They're all pretty good on the dance floor though.

I really really want to write a prom ficlet but have no ideas for mini plots, character arcs, internal/external conflict etc. sooo
