Digital Art

Welcome! Here's a collection of stuff I'm making for an introductory digital art class. All images used are royalty free and come from websites such as Pixabay, Pexels, and Unsplash. Sounds/audio have also been sourced from a royalty free website Free Sound. I'll also post stuff I make outside of class with my own images and sounds from time to time too.

Some more GIFs I made of myself doing idiotic things in Halloween masks. These are way more fun to make than they should be and I want to make more. I'm fairly happy with how both of them came out but the bottom one has a little bit of a jump to it when it repeats, I tried to mess around and fix that but it wasn’t happening and I think I somehow made it worse.

I made a fun little name poster in Illustrator. I also learned that I’m not a fan of the gradient tool, it’s a bit of a learning curve. I’m still happy with this neat little thing I made though.

For this assignment we were shown the website FreeSound where I was able to find a variety of different sounds I edited and put together to make this audio of my mythical creature I made earlier in the semester, the Bobbuzzbuck. Since I decided that they are very territorial animals and inhabit the highest points in the deserts across North America I chose to have a “recording” of a fight between a couple of Bobbuzzbucks. I’m pretty happy with how it came out, although I couldn’t find actual bobcat noises so I used audio of tigers that I picked out the most bobcat-ish sounding parts out of. I also had a hard time finding good antler clack noises but I was able to at least get something by messing with the playback speed and volume. Again I did not make the sounds myself I sourced them from the website FreeSound which has some really awesome people uploading and making sounds for free use. I just put the sounds together and edited them a little bit to make this neat little soundscape for a class.

I made a cryptid soundtrack in my Digital Art class! I made it using audio taken from my yard at night with some wind and frogs, I ran in some heavy boots across my rock driveway and for the screaming I used what’s called an Aztec Death Whistle (if you’re not familiar look them up they’re really cool) from my collection of weird and bizarre stuff that I just collect. Overall I’m pretty happy with how it came out now I wanted it to sound like the person who is running is running away from the creature so I recorded the whistle in different parts of my yard so the audio would all be the same. The album art is semi-related, it’s from when I first found my all time favorite Halloween mask at a trade show and I feel like this made up cryptid would be like an opossum mixed with other things.

I made GIFs of myself doing idiotic things in Halloween masks! This was another project for my Introduction to Digital Art class and I loved making them. I plan on making more and I hope that these uploaded properly.

I finally got to dabble in Illustrator and made some digital patterns for an assignment. I took pictures of some old cars that my family and I own, and a picture of one of my cats and went around them with the pen tool and made some interesting shapes with the silhouettes. Then I took those and repeated them in different forms/orientation to make my patterns. These are supposed to be a representation of a few of the Gestalt principles. The principles I chose are as follows: Repetition, Proximity, Closure, and Continuation.

Some more Intro to Digital Art call. This one we had to make animal hybrids in photoshop. I loved this project and my favorite has to be the bobcat. I have named each of these creatures with ridiculous names as follows: the Bobbuzzbuck, a Husorse, and finally and Lion Shark. I wanted to add a squid into the last one but my resources had to be royalty free and squids are difficult to find for some odd reason. Someday I will make a faux taxidermy of a Bobbuzzbuck because that would be amazing.

More blending practice for my Into to Digital Media class, I learned how to make my own light source and how to match the coloration of two different images in this exercise and I’m happier with the result of image 2. All photos used have come from royalty free websites as always :)

Here was one of the first projects I made in my Introduction to Digital Media class, I was just learning how Photoshop works and how to blend two images together. I’m getting fairly comfortable with using Photoshop and I think I like the first and second images the most. All photos used in this project came from royalty free websites :)
