Tune in tonight at 8p pst. to the Me, Myself, and I Radio show on Cast435.com as we feature the latest installment of the Ninja Forum Remix Project entitled "Infrasonics 723". This years project features remixes from Bassling, James ++, Kobra Audio Labs, Citixen, Long Distance Dan, Meezoid, Bobby Corridor, Kelp, Digital Midgets, Pete Sasquwax, Willah and Breeze, Kepler's Supernova, Techdef, and Dj Pnutz. This remix chain brings together producers from around the world, each linked by samples as well as membership of the Ninja Tune record label’s online forum. It’s apt Ninja Tune has inspired remix projects. The label was established by Coldcut, whose reworking of Eric B and Rakim’s ‘Paid In Full’ in 1987 has been described as a “benchmark remix” by The Guardian newspaper. The first remix chain was started in England with Kelp’s track ‘Oceandrift’ and the remixes that flowed from the ambient composition featured a variety of electronic music genres. This remix chain begins in San Diego, California with the initial track provided by DJ Pnutz. Her bio follows: DJ Pnutz embarked on her career as a DJ when she received turntables as a graduation present in 1999. Within a year she began playing small gigs around the Southern California area and soon was accepted as a rising star in the rave scene. Learning the basics of mixing with various forms of electronic music her desire was to shift her focus to a more hip hop oriented style. Utilizing her love and knowledge of older music as well as her background as a classically trained dancer Pnutz was able to develop a unique genre bending methodology that drew from the energy of the dancefloor. Despite her success as a DJ, the end goal was always to create original music. Originally from Canada and raised largely in San Diego, DJ Pnutz quietly honed her skills as a bedroom producer while continuing to establish her reputation as an eclectic DJ. Around 2005 DJ Pnutz took a turn from a club DJ into a instructor by taking over as the owner and head teacher of the San Diego Turntable Institution. She began focusing on introducing a younger generation to the artform that she has loved for so many years. DJ Pnutz launched after school programs and youth oriented seminars at various locations such as The New Childrens Museum, La Jolla Museum of Modern Art, and Knotts Berry Farm. S.D.T.I. received growing acclaim from local media and community until 2012 when a a disastrous flood forced the San Diego Turntable Institution to close its doors. With teaching now no longer a main focus for Dj Pnutz she turned her sole attentions to producing. On her mother's birthday of 2012 a long time dream was released when DJ Pnutz released her first album and limited edition vinyl entitled "Rackmount". Since that time she has released numerous solo and joint projects including the top charting digital release "B-Girl Breaks" on Springstrut Recordings and "Treel Tales of Number Running" with J. Treel and 1019 of Parker and the Numberman which won a San Diego Music Award for Best Hip Hop album of 2015. Having played percussion instruments since her early teenage years, DJ Pnutz has a heavy focus on drums in her production style. Although impacted by numerous genres, a strong old school hip hop influence can be felt in many of her tracks through her use of sampling and overall programming. After more than 15 years in the music game this is still only the precipice of achievements for DJ Pnutz as more is yet to come from this female production force. credits Download the full FREE album at shinobicuts.bandcamp.com

Music can often transport you to a different place, a different time, a different mind. Music can alter your perceptions without the use of anything illegal. That's how I felt after listening to this series of short cassette tape and vinyl based albums. The "Sinking Swimmer" and "Face First" projects are the brain child of John Pain and Egadz. With most tracks clocking in under 3 minutes there is barely time to catch your breath before the next set of hard hitting drums and an obscene amount of reverb terrifies your turntables. In a world of electronically produced music conquering nearly all forms of music this dirty duo draws inspiration from live musicians, lo-if grit, and reel to reel sessions. The first two Sinking Swimmer projects came out on 10in. vinyl through Luana records and were met with such acclaim that they flew off the shelves faster than they could be restocked. The latest genre bending release from John Pain and Egadz is a remix project that digs through the past and opens the doors to Tenshun, Walter Gross, Sick Balloons, Dreas, Pete Sasqwax, and Elektro4 to provide their original perspectives on tracks from the past two projects through the media of cassette tape. The "Face First EP" is a limited release through I Had An Accident Records of 250 well produced cassettes on original cardboard cases. These aren't a typical collection of remixes thrown on a b-side or compliation, John Pain and Egadz have collected a truly unique group of producers who infuse their distinctive styles while maintaining the musics psychedelic core. These projects truly introduce something new to the stale state of music, showcasing a new sound and ideology bred from pure creative genius. http://ihadanaccidentrecords.com/album/face-first-ep sinkingswimmer.com

Old school hip-hop is often unsuccessfully imitated in today's current market place with many people not even realizing where the source material originated. Between the rampant use of 808s and cheap ripoffs of the Run DMC logo seen in political campaigns, it is rare that we see something old truly become new again. Back in October of last Dj Circa joined forces with pioneering Rap icon Craig G to reinvent his classic hit "Shout Rap" entitled "That's My Name (Shout Rap part 2)". It's not often that a sequel can rival the original, but when you have such a dynamic duo of legendary talent it should be no surprise when history is rewritten. Dj Circa is no stranger to the hip-hop scene having taken up the art of Djing in the mid 80s and beat making via his EMU SP-1200 not long after. He is the music machine behind his group called Grand Vanacular and has also worked along side greats such as; P.O.D., Cypress Hill's Sen Dog and Mellow Man Ace, Eek-A-Mouse, and now also Craig G. This huge milestone in his career has been met with humbling praise. Circa himself says, "If you would have told me when I was 13 years old recording the original "Shout" off of the radio and just tripping out how good it was when I was a kid that I would be making a 2015 version of it with Craig I would have told you you were crazy". You can find the reimagining of "Shout Rap" featuring Craig G with production by Dj Circa out on Amazon and ITunes. Rumor has it that more high powered collaborations from Circa featuring prominent rappers are due out in the near future.
