POTIOM
Paraphilic Orienations TransID Intersex and Other Minorities
POTIOM is a community acronym similar to MOGAI, TUIGAIM, etc. It's meant to be similar to the all-encompassing nature of terms like LIOM while being explicitly inclusive of Paraphiles and Transidentities which these terms often exclude.
The colors on the flag stand for all-encompassing inclusion, tranquility, and queer joy with the symbol being the technical symbol for perspective (⌆).
This term explicitly stands for:
All Transidentities
All forms of plurality
All forms of gender identity and expression
All forms types of attractions and relationships
All contradictory and complex identities
Being critical of psychiatry, recognizing the harm it can cause while still understanding it's needed for many people. This includes the coining of medically unrecognized disorders, syndromes, etc.
Bodily autonomy, risk aware and consensual transitioning, especially if other parties are involved (Ex. Enthusiastic Consent with Conabuse for TransAbusers)
Seeing Paraphilias as inherently orientations. Even if someone personally considers their paraphilias separate from their orientation, it should be treated the same conceptually.
Using content warnings even if it’s part of your transition. For example, It’s not inherently against N.I.N. using their symbols, however anywhere including them should be appropriately warned so those affected can avoid it.
Freedom of fiction, allowing others to cope and explore themes in fiction freely, including Real Person Fiction.
Being Pro-Consent above all other discourse; What is defined as "contact" and who is included in the "contact" of certain paraphilias is subjective from person-to-person and as long as no one is nonconsentually harmed then there should be no debate. Ultimately, contact is on a case-by-case basis and involves risk awareness. As long as everyone is consenting, it's none of our business—It's important to note that contact is not always sexual, romantic, etc.
Above all else, we encourage learning the perspective of other people's identities and believing that people should live their truest and best life in the little time someone has.
