NICKNAMES CAT, LINA, VARGAS
BORN IN LOS ANGELES, CA
OCCUPATION FORMER HOMICIDE DETECTIVE FOR LAPD, AND RECENTLY TRANSFERRED TO BEACON HILLS PD.
BIRTHDAY JUNE 23, 1987
- Catalina Marissa Vargas was born on June 23rd, 1987 in Los Angeles, California to Jonathon and Meredith Vargas. She was an only child, and though lonely at times, she wouldn’t have had it any other way. Cat had a happy life growing up, with nothing major ever really happening to her or her loved ones.
- Cat grew up being the voice of justice in the schoolyard, always standing up for the little guy, even if at times it landed her in trouble. And as she grew older, that developed into a love for crime and police shows - a passion she grew to share with her best friend.
- After graduating from high school, Cat enrolled to UCLA, following both her mother’s footsteps.
- Cat had a fling with a guy she met in college and what was supposed to be super casual, ended up becoming more serious....at least for her. She ended up more invested in the fling and when he revealed it was reciprocated, it only broke her heart.
- With that heartbreak and confusion muddling her, Cat took an offer to transfer schools and went to study at Princeton. Four years later, she graduated magna cum laude. Right after graduating, she joined the police academy and graduated from it with high marks.
- She worked at the 76th Precinct until tragedy struck back home. Her father passed away from a massive heart attack. The loss shattered Catalina and her mother so, she asked for a transfer back home.
- Catalina moved back to LA and joined the LAPD. Her first arrest back home came late one evening at a bar in the center of the Hollywood. Spiraling actor Theodore Finch has gotten into a rather nasty fight with a musician. She had been assigned the case and booked the actor, a sense of compassion for him filled her. She had seen how lost he was that night but there was nothing she could have done for him.
- A couple of years after that, Catalina worked her way up until she was promoted and became a homicide detective. It was a job that she absolutely loved. Though seeing the deepest cruelty human nature was capable of took a toll on her, she often took solace in her faith and the knowledge that she was helping bring justice to the victims to help.
-About six months ago, Catalina was called to a scene of a strange animal attack. No one could quite explain it. It didn’t match the pattern of any known wild animals in the area. But having no further proof of anything else amiss, it was ruled inconclusive.
- That’s when a simple case turned into a more complex one. More and more mysterious animal attacks have come up along California and the epicenter of it all seemed to be a sleepy little town called Beacon Hills. The sheriff's department there, though reluctant to admit it, needed help and needing a change of pace in her life, Cat offered to be transferred and work for the BHPD as lead homicide detective on their recent cases. Something wasn’t adding up and she was going to figure out what it was...even if it was the last thing she did. Solving these mysterious might just give her the break she needs in her career.
- Catalina is patient, kind, caring, and compassionate but often struggles with expressing her emotions. She's a bit closed off in that sense but it's something she is working on.
-She often directs her emotions into her work, diving in almost obsessively.
- She's a very tough cookie, full of courage (thank you, God) and fearlessness that serve her well in her job. She often feels that these are gifts from God because helping solve crimes, often heinous and pure evil, is what He put her on earth to do.
- There is ability she has to to maintain a calm and level head in these heated situations. She is highly altruistic, supportive, and resourceful towards her peers, but also towards those she serves.
- She is a super loving soul, however, and will the first one to jump up and help anyone in need. Though probably not the "best" Christian around, she does try to live in a Christ way in everything she does. It becomes a bit challenging, especially with her job.
- Catalina was born and raised as a Christian but never really stuck to the faith growing up, though she knew all of the teachings.
- It wasn’t until she was made into a homicide detective that she realized she couldn’t handle this job on her own. She found her way back to Christ and has been a born again Christian for about a six years.
- She hates small towns, not for any reason other than the fact that she’s always been in big cities so it’s a bit stifling.
- Cat used to have a dog in LA but it passed away a few months ago. She’s still taking the hit pretty hard. The dog's name was Ellie and she was part of her department's K9 unit, however, Ellie had been retired after receiving an injury. Cat had adopted her.
- Cat never swears, she's completely against it.
- She wakes up at the crack of dawn every day. This gives her enough time to dedicate time to God in the morning, often prayer and reading the Bible before getting ready for the day. ...That often includes a 5-mile run. Yes, we all hate her.
- She visits the gym every day except on the weekends but, regardless if she goes to the gym or not, Cat always has a long morning run every day. It helps clear her head and gives her the energy boost she needs.
- She's addicted to coffee. Do not touch the woman's coffee.
