Ps before we start I’m new to poetry and this is just a little poem I wrote quickly and I’m not so proud of it cause of how gloomy it is pls don’t hate on me
Orca whales (aka killer whales) are extremely intelligent creatures who’s intelligence is compared to dolphins and chimpanzees. Their brains are highly developed in area that are responsible for problem solving and communication.
They aren’t actually whales but dolphins. The reason they are called killer whales is because when sailors first saw them they were hunting which gave them the name “whale killers” which evolved over time.
They’re highly intelligent and it is shown in many different behaviors. They have been seen following temporary trends. No they’re not carrying Labubus but in the 80s they used to wear salmon hats. I could not make this up. One day a female orca had dead salmon on her head and everyone followed along.
Another way they demonstrate their intelligence is their picky eating. Orcas have learned that shark liver in high in nutrients for them so they tend to eat shark liver and discard the rest. So this means orcas waste food 😒
Orcas have actually hunted with humans in the past as well! For 1000 years orcas off the coast of Australia hunted whales next to indigenous people. Orcas would tell them where the whales were then the humans would hunt them and give them a snack as a thank you.
Orcas are very intelligent and are one of my favorite ocean animals. They get a bad rep because of their cruel ways of hunting but sadly it just a demonstration of their intelligence and they do not know better.
