the statue in myself: baroque

façades I stood in front of

as a boy, strict rows of trees,

columns, fountains, pavilions,

sights meant for royal ease.

For harmony's sake I've tried

to rid myself of rigid

aspects. It's just as well

I don't succeed!

Someone departs, someone is wounded.

A woman runs across a street

her hands lifted in lament,

At moments such as these,

when pain runs through the body

and tensions flicker in a nervous sky,

like a figure when the storm is gone-

breaks through in me, comes forth again:
