In a weird and unexpected turn of events Catalina and Tristan might have actually been friends or two people that had some sort of an agreement with the other but being that there was so much bad blood they were put up against each other and the two weren’t planning on backing down. In a lot of ways the two just didn’t know enough about each other except for the things they hear but they both happened to be just as stubborn as the other.
She knew how to make him uncomfortable there was no doubting that but it only made Tristan feel the need to make her just as uncomfortable. Scooting his chair closer so he was able to place his arms on the table between them, he leaned in slightly before tilting his head to the side. “You’d know something about that wouldn’t you? The whole having a big mouth thing? I have some crazy flashbacks coming of you talking mad shit and me keeping my mouth shut, funny how I’m the one with the big mouth, huh?” Tristan once again leaned back in his chair. Her words hit close to home but he held back the want to get up and walk away. “Hey, princess don’t forget this useless junkie is the one that supplies all your super important parties. Maybe I’m not so useless to you after all or are we gonna pretend that never happened?”
“Oh, don’t be such a baby,” Catalina scoffed. “You’ve got your panties in a twist because nasty Catalina said mean things about you behind your back? Let’s not pretend that I didn’t tell you straight up too. And for the record, it doesn’t count as ‘mad shit’ if all of it was true. I’m many things, but I’m not dishonest. But by all means, open your mouth. Let’s see who comes out smelling of roses.” She challenged him, her jaw set in a determined stance.
His next words caused her to lose her composure. For a split second, her mind went blank. How could she respond to that? He wasn’t wrong, after all. She did have her uses for him, as shady as they were. But she was resourceful, and within a heartbeat, she was speaking again. “Don’t you get it?” She said, with a tinkling laugh devoid of any mirth. “I don’t come to you because you’re useful. I come to You because you won’t turn me down. Because I own you. Which reminds me.” She reached into her purse, pulling out several crisp bills and placing them on the table between them. “I have something going on next week. Take it or leave it.”

“Eh, some people aren’t into kids. It’s cool. I get told I’m too much like kids myself sometimes but it’s all good. I love those little buggers. And…thank you,” he grinned, the real meaning of her ‘something else’ comment going right over his head. He also bounced a bit in his seat when she brought up Mike Tyson, his eyebrows knitting together. “Hey, don’t be so judgmental. I personally like his tattoo! I mean, I don’t think I’d ever do something that, but whatever. Maybe I’ll get a tattoo on my arm or my shoulder or somewhere else one day. YOLO and all that jazz.” He nodded at her reasoning behind the fresh lemon juice, taking another bite of his bagel and considering it as he chewed. “Everything has additives nowadays though, don’t they? And does that mean you don’t eat buttered popcorn? Because I could never do that, butter is like my family.” He held up a hand as if he were about to defend himself, but a split second later he shrugged and slunk back down against his seat. “You’re kinda right. Oliver usually does it cause he likes food that’s ‘healthy’ and ‘not for six year olds’”, he explained, adding little air quotes with his fingers accordingly. He was mid-bite to his food when he paused and glanced at her. “Whaddya mean proper food?” he asked through a mouthful of bagel, wiping off the side of his face and swallowing. “I’m eating real food right now.”
"I’m definitely one of them. Children do nothing for me. I don’t really understand why anybody would want to have them before the age of like, forty. And even then, it's totally just to say you did it.” Catalina said, with total sincerity. "You couldn't make a face tattoo work. Unless it was a red clown nose, you're shit out of luck. Although You actually have pretty good bone structure, so it would be a shame to draw all over it. I can't exactly picture you with a full sleeve either." She shrugged.
Catalina wrinkled her nose when he mentioned butter. "Are you kidding me? How are you not a giant ball of lard? If I even thought about buttered popcorn, it would take me three hours in the gym to work it off of my hips." She explained. She took her appearance so seriously that it bled into every aspect of her life, from the time she woke up in the morning, to the colour nail polish she used, to the choices of food she put in her body, and she had made an enemy of carbs in any form. "It isn't even fair. I mean, it's obvious you don't really care that much about the size of your waistline," she gestured to his bagel.
"It's a bagel, Ellis, and unless you're both planning a severe crash diet, it's not exactly going to count as groceries for the week. You have no idea how much this is legitimately agitating me that you can't be trusted to buy a weekly food shop." She said. Although it was nothing to do with her, she was a control freak by nature, and the bossy, perfectionist side of her was bothered by his ice cream and Doritos admission.

Tristan and Catalina ticked a lot differently than the other but at the same time there was some similarities despite how clearly different they were. One of those things being when someone was on their bad side they both didn’t hold back - Catalina was probably a little more forward with her words than he was but all in all they weren’t scared of hurting someone’s feelings. It came with Catalina’s attitude - maybe even a potential defense mechanism and it came with Tristan simply not caring. Scoffing, once again that fake smile he seemed to wear so well around the dark haired girl in front of him appeared on his face as he leaned back into his chair and crossed his arms over his chest. “Tragically enough I never been good about watching what I say, it kinda just… Slips. Hey, look at that something we have in common.” Tristan kept his eyes glued to hers as they spoke but as soon as she brought up him having bigger things to worry about he looked away for a split second. The truth that came with the statement hitting him a little harder than he probably should’ve let it. Focusing back on her he shook his head, “What are you talking about? I have nothing to worry about.”
Part of Catalina recognised something in Tristan that she respected- something that was a challenge, which spurred her on all the more to verbally spar with him. Of course, she’d never say that out loud, never admit that on any level, he was her equal. No, on the surface, her behaviour was just because she was a shitty person, any ulterior motive buried under the layers of opulence she decorated herself in.
They regarded each other, dark eyes on blue, neither willing to break the gaze. Catalina stubborn enough to hold on long enough to make it intensely uncomfortable. "That's going to get you in trouble someday, you know. Nobody likes a big mouth." She said. She rested her elbows on the arms of her chair, her body language open, in contrast to his crossed arms. Her voice was sickly sugar sweet, but her expression betrayed the look of triumph that glittered in her eyes. "Please. We both know that you're a useless junkie. That's a pretty big problem if you ask me," she said. She knew it was a low blow, but she couldn't resist going there.

✖ — ‘ so at whoever decided they wanted to egg my car, I have two REACTIONStowards it. first, i’m extremely pissed. but second, what in the hell did I do to have pissedyou off? especially to the ‘i’m going to egg your car’ point. I mean shit, you’ve got to be pretty livid to repeatedly peg my car with eggs. ’
"I paid the kid who delivers my dad's newspaper to do it. Your car was dirty and it was offending my eyes. Now you have no excuse. Get it cleaned."

‘and like - it was just really awkward. y’know? i’m not a cold hearted bitch - it’s just my face… but like her problem wasn’t really my problem so.’
"Is this supposed to make any sense to me? Like, you're assuming I didn't doze off in the middle of that conversation, right?"

“Hey, kindergartners are cute, and so am I. Plus, I’m smart. I might not be book smart, or street smart…wait, shit, you’re supposed to be one or the other, right? Well I’m my own type of smart, and that’s what matters.” He placed a hand to his chest in mock offense at her comment, trying to make a face that he felt a lady in those housewife shows did when they got dissed. “I happen to think my voice is very soothing, very simialr to Morgan Freeman’s. I bet you many other people feel that way as well. I mean, not you, or my roomie…but other than that, tons.” Despite her rather snooty disposition, it didn’t discourage Ellis. The fact was many of his friends either accepted or put up with all his dorkiness, and she was definitely one who surprisingly managed to put up with it time after time.
“I didn’t say you were stupid. So quick to jump to conclusions, sheesh,” he replied with a shake of his head, going in for another munch of his bagel. “Wait, what’s wrong with not fresh lemon juice? Isn’t the store bought stuff just the same?” He intently listened to the girl as she spoke; the way she talked was pretty entertaining, just because of how differently the two of them saw the world. He was mid-chew when she mentioned something on his face, and he stopped to observe. “What are you…oh!” he grinned, licking the excess that he wiped off from his palm. “Could’ve saved that for later but eh, now’s just as good of a time. Anywho, I was just going for a stroll, seeing where the wind takes me. I think I was supposed to stop by the grocery store but I don’t have a list, and Oliver’s gonna kill me if all I bring home is ice cream sandwiches and Dorito’s again.”
"They're gross and sticky. Kids are disgusting. I don't know about smart, but you are definitely something else," Catalina said, but there was no malice in her tone, despite her harsh words. She could never quite bring herself to be as short tempered with Ellis as she was with most. Although she thought he was an imbecile, she still liked him enough that even through her irritation, he didn't bother her. "Morgan Freeman? Don't be ridiculous, you're nowhere near that distinguished. Try Mike Tyson, only without the obvious physical presence. If you decide to get a face tattoo, we can never be seen together again."
"With fresh lemon juice you know they don't put any crap in it," she explained, with the air of someone explaining to an infant why two plus two makes four. "Store bought juice has so many additives. Did you know they treat the fruit so much that they have to add the flavour artificially afterwards? I'm not going to drink that." Catalina tossed her hair over her shoulder, as though to say 'so there'. "Why doesn't it surprise me that you don't know how to buy groceries? Even I know that, and our housekeeper does it." She stood up, lemonade barely touched, and smoothed down her skirt. "Come on. It's going to annoy me if I don't make sure you buy proper food."

From the second he sat down, Oliver could feel the vague contempt the girl had towards his presence, not really caring as she had invited him over. He took a sip of his coffee as he listened to her speak, smiling slightly as she spoke.
“I wouldn’t say that’s entirely fair, I’m sure a majority of the people here aren’t idiots. Not smart either, but not idiots,” Oliver shifted in his seat slightly as he saw Catalina’ eyes on him, getting the feeling he had done something wrong or had something on his face. “I doubt anyone could thing you’re a loser. Yeah, you’re Catalina if I remember correctly?”
Catalina snorted impatiently. "Honey, if the word 'pariah' impresses you, you must have an even lower opinion of the people here than I do. Let's not sugar coat things. Idiots. You're either trying to be nice, or you're one of them." She said, dismissively.
She considered his words for a moment, before deciding they appealed to her pride, and shooting him a smile that was probably the closest thing to a polite gesture she had given anybody this month. "You're right. It would be different if I wasn't wearing incredible shoes." She said, more to herself than to Oliver. "It's nice to meet you properly, in any case."

Rowan playfully rolled her eyes, taking another giant sip of her coffee before responding. “Right, right,” Rowan waved her hand. “Queen Catalina, I forgot. Need to make myself one of those permanent mental notes so I don’t forget that.” Reclining back in her seat, Rowan kicked her feet up on the vacant chair sitting opposite her.
“You missed a good party last night,” Rowan said, a knowing smile on her face. “I can’t really remember most of it, but I went home with a hot guy and I do remember the sex and it was good.” Rowan stopped speaking as a waiter approached the table and placed the plate with Rowan’s sandwich on it down in front of her. Rowan offered him a wink from behind her sunglasses. “Thanks, Big Dick… I mean, Rich.”
Rowan wasted no time and dug into her sandwich, taking two giants bites before turning her attention back onto Catalina. “So where were you?” Rowan questioned around a mouthful of food. “I feel like someone asked me about you, but again, I was very drunk so I could very well have imagined that.”
"I'm disappointed. I would of thought that you, of everyone, would be at least able to remember my title. You're lucky I don't make you call me your majesty," she teased, a smirk firmly in place.
Catalina listened quietly as Rowan spoke. The two girls were as different as night and day sometimes, but, unlike she did with most of the people she knew, Catalina could never bring herself to hold Rowan to the standards she judged others by. It was a touch of loyalty that came unexpectedly, and was reserved for very few people. It didn't stop her rolling her eyes at the fawning waiter, and Rowan's comments to him.
"I didn't feel like going," she said, simply. "I find those parties so vulgar sometimes, full of idiots drinking cheap wine coolers out of plastic cups. Can you imagine? I don't think I even own anything made of plastic." Cat said, wrinkling her nose in distaste. "I can just about stomach it when I'm obligated to go for like, social reasons, but I didn't figure I would miss out on anything. Especially if you went off with some guy."

Despite the fact that classes were no longer in full swing, Veronica was unable to give up any of her usual vices that assisted her in successfully making it through the day without too much difficulty. While that normally consisted of half a pack of cigarettes, a couple hits off a joint, with the occasional dip into the heavier more illegal commodities, coffee was the drug of choice she had been craving most today. Veronica had been working up a mid-afternoon caffeine withdrawal, complete with a relentless pounding headache and immense feeling of fatigue when she decided to stop at a cafe in town on her way home. The wait in line had taken a lot longer than she wanted, but once that first glorious sip of her carmel iced coffee with a double shot hit her lips, Veronica felt like a whole new woman. Making her way outside, it wasn’t long till she ran into a familiar face – it never was, given how unfortunately small the town was. Even though she had every intention of going straight home to slide out of her skinny jeans and put some stupid show on Netflix, Veronica decided that it wouldn’t kill her to sit with Catalina for a bit. Especially considering how much she hated going places on her own, she figured she would save the girl from having to look like a pariah any longer, as she liked to put it.
Plopping down into the seat across from her, Veronica leaned comfortably back in her chair as she continued to suck down her coffee through the straw. “So… Are you like people watching or do you have a hot date you’re waiting on or…?” She asked, her words drifting off as she looked around the patio and gestured toward the empty table. Since Catalina didn’t have a drink or food in front of her, Veronica was trying to figure out what possible reason she could have for sitting at a cafe all by herself.
Catalina regarded Veronica with a tilt of her head. In a time before she was quite so Catalina, she had spent a fair amount of time with her, being the younger sister of her best friend at the time. It seemed like so long ago, now, as thought it was a different person all together who had spent countless nights eating dinner and sleeping over at the Cole household. While her tastes had always been spoilt, she had never been a snob until after she and Vanessa had gone their separate ways. The combination of the argument and Catalina’s perception of her own self importance, had led to minimal contact between the two in the time since. Not to mention, there was something inherently distasteful about the way Veronica lived her life. She was not the sort of person Catalina wanted to associate herself with.
"I don't people watch. Why would I have to when I'm the most interesting person here?" Catalina said, haughtily, narcissistic as ever. She had little to no interest in the affairs of others, unless it was something she could gossip about. "And if a date ever bought me here, I would leave immediately. What kind of cheap guys have you gone out with?" She asked, quirking an eyebrow. The waiter brought her lemonade over, and she dismissed him with a wave of her hand, before taking a sip, still surveying Veronica with a faint curiosity.
Sorry I've been so crap! I'll reply tonight xx
