Gradient Tutorial - Eye Whites

Draw the outline for your eye.

Block in the white of the eye.

Either double click on the layer for the eye white or go right click -> Blending Options.

The Layer Style window will appear, go down and click on Gradient Overlay.

Rotate the angle (or type in) until it is either 180 or 0 degrees. Either will do for now. 

Then, double click on the colour bar next to Gradient. The Gradient Editor will come up.

Click on the coloured arrows below the bar. It will activate the Colour box below. Double click on that, then select a muted blue-grey for both arrows. Then, click near the bottom of the gradient colour bar to create more arrows.

Keep adding arrows until you get something like below. 

Add in the main colours of the eye and highlights.

Go back and adjust the arrows to either side to fit around the new colours of the eye, showing all the tones. 

If done properly and combined with less rudimentary main eye colours, you should be left with a somewhat 3D-looking base for an eye.

This is the image I have made for the About Me section on Wix. I could have done better if given more time but I feel it will do.

Evaluation

I went over my site and added some final tweaks to it today. After looking at how it appeared in Chrome, I decided to move all the elements upward, as before you’d have to scroll to see everything. It appears fine in IE and Mozilla now, too. I added in an automatic gallery to the front page and removed the default images, replacing them with some of my older works. 

I found on the actual site a problem which would not let me click to my other pages. I quickly realised the dark strip I had across the page was blocking access and sent it to the back - underneath the buttons. 

I found using Wix to be quite simple and it produced a professional result. I am fairly pleased with how my site turned out and will refine the portfolio page when I get time. In the future, I’d like to perhaps add a Paypal donation button somewhere in there and my showreel to the front page, replacing the gallery.

I ended up following my original plan for my pages fairly closely, though I still need to create some background images to replace the default ones used. The next thing I will do is create an image of myself for the About page - as instructed.
