In your winx au, do you have different ships than canon?
Replying to really old asks
I don’t know how to feel about changing ships, because I feel some don’t work well and other’s need more development. Like Timmy barely feels like a character, so him being Tecna’s boyfriend is like his main characteristic. I’m still laughing that Musa and Riven didn’t talk to each other until he was with Darcy (but I get it). And someone described Bloom and Sky as boiled chicken with rice ans I have to agree, their relationship feels bland, not in a cute way, and their conflict with Diaspro just makes it look worst.
They need to cook a little longer.
Except Stella and Brandon, they are perfect together. (At least until season 3, idk what happenes after)
How old was Musa when she started to train in martial arts and self-defence?
Replying to really old asks
Around 7 or 8 yo.
I also like the idea of Aisha practicing capoeira, because it mixes fighting and dancing. And they can train together.
There is no place like Tumblr
I’m getting notifications from a 10 year old post
I stayed up late last night making braid brushes because I’m too lazy to draw them one by one.
Omg I love the way you wrote the winx girls
They feel like actual people you could met in real life and become friends with (I want to become friends with)
If I might ask do you have any other hcs to share?
Replying really old asks
I’m not sure what to answer since my AU is so fanon that idk if this counts as headcanons, but here are some bits of the girls
Headcanons
Bloom ⁃ doodled the girls and they use them as pics on the group chat ⁃ is kinda of a history nerd ⁃ would stay all night reading something she intersted in ⁃ Curious by nature
Stella ⁃ answers phone or message in 30 seconds ⁃ Cannot use moon powers and doesn’t want to talk about it ⁃ Is used to have everything she wants, now is a bit overwhelmed that she has to work for ⁃ Wants to be fashion designer, but doesn’t know how to sew ⁃ Cannot dance, or sing too well, but she tries.
Tecna ⁃ likes cute things ⁃ The girls go to her with their emotional problems because she would give them her pragmatic point of view. She does not enjoy it too much. ⁃ Has online friends that she games with.
Flora ⁃ Starts having “tea time”, the girls join her sometimes to relax ⁃ Braids her hair when she is anxious, if it is too much; she would start braiding others people hair. ⁃ Tecna introduced her to dating sims, she got a bit addicted.
Musa ⁃ never answers the phone ⁃ Is afraid on hover bikes
Aisha ⁃ Has never done normal teen, like going shopping or for a coffee. ⁃ Didn’t get along with other kids at court, she mostly hanged out with Ann ⁃ Collects shells, for comfort ⁃ Her mom doesn’t know she can ride hover bikes ⁃ She know a bit of a martial art⁃
Tecna and Musa seem not be able to sit straight
They have a group chat, but they need a separate one for all the things Flora and Stella send. Animal videos, what clothes to buy, cafes they should go.
Aisha teaches Flora relaxing exercises (they need it)
Bloom organizes group night hangouts, watching movies, playing games, ranting about topics they really want to talk about, but no one to hear it.
As Hornet assembles her first Cogfly in a ruined workshop in the High Halls of the Citadel, she remembers the Pale King and wonders whether she will meet the same fate as her father.

Bloom for that first sad one?
Answering really old asks, sorry :(
I think you mean this if I don’t miss remember…
Picture this, Bloom with or without the wind fight any bad guys on earth in their fairy form and wouldn't care if people saw them, Mitzi was there too, imagine she and her old classmates saw Bloom as a Fairy?
Answering really old asks, sorry
Doesn’t this happened in season 4? I dropped it at some point because I didn’t like it…
But I love the trope of others finding out a characters secret identity. In this case not exactly a secret, but still applies. I cannot remember an instance where it felt truly satisfying. So that is something I would like to explore.
This is really embarrassing, but there are still Winx related asks I never answered, due to time or anxiety.
Should I answer them anyway, I’m afraid people would be mad or disappointed
No, I don’t really
Sure, why not
A third secret opinion
I wanted to draw a character in different outfits and all I could think was my Tecna’s redesign
Her outfits are always sleek, but I wanted to add some cyberpunk elements?
Hello @catarium I know we always talk and rant about how they did the winx club series and reboot really dirty. so I want to here about your ranting about how you truly feel about the winx club live action series Fate:the Winx saga. I thought the Reboot was bad until I watched this Disaster .
I watched the show and i really hated it some People generally disliked Fate: The Winx Saga, the live-action because it deviated significantly from the bright, magical, and fashionable aesthetic of the original animated series, opting instead for a drab, gritty "teen drama" tone.
💔The list of things I hated in the live action
•why are they all British
• bloom never learn she is an orphan and her parent never knew about alfea
•why are the fairy and specialist in the the same school where are the witches
• didn't like how bloom has mother issue because original cartoon she has a good relationship with her mom.
• mitzi doesn't make an appearance in the show
• The woods scene where bloom and meet stella and use her power of the first time against the trolls
• they made stella a rude rich girl and ruin her friendship with between bloom and the others.
• stella and sky were in a relationship but now are there ex .all that was just dumb plot
• there no tenca ruined the cultural representation of others example: Musa and flora
• flora was replace by her cousin terra even the cartoon never mentioned her existence she so annoying as a character!
• last time I remember there was three trix why is there one random girl name Beatrix
•Aisha being a snitch and Betraying Her Friends
•the fashion was not great
• dark and adults themes and moments in the show
•replacing the colorful, magical aesthetic with a dark, moody tone reminiscent of teen dramas.
•Cheesy Teenage Drama The plot focused too much on unnecessary romantic drama and "edgy" dialogue rather than magic and adventure.
Well these are all my ranting so I want to here about yours @catarium hoe do you feel about the show.
Hey! Every once in a while I’m remembered the live action exists.
I didn’t watch it, just one of those videos “I watched it so you don’t have to”, and yes, most people pointed out the same as you, it was just a teen drama with Winx Club as title. And I think Winx Club is one of those shows that cannot be adapted to live action unless you compromise with the ✨aesthetic✨🧚♀️ and take the risk.
“Why are they all british?” Idk why british accent is always associated with magic, but is thing apparently.
I was on the fence with everyone until I saw Musa and I was like, “nope, to the trash”
I guessed the deleted Tecna, because then they would have to incorporate the futurist aspect and they did not had the budget for that.
And I heard all the drama was very stereotypical of Teenage Drama ™
Also, Bloom in red? Eww
I really want to know what’s the logic of a live action/reboot, that is not cash grab, because 99% of the time it misses the mark.
I wanted to draw characters in different outfits so I looked back to an old attempt and now I’m crying
Seeing old art is painful xD
Dunno if this is a hot take but I personally think they should have offed Sky instead of Nabu. Winx loves to focus on Bloom, what better than give her the grieving arc and then throw boys at her. By then they'd already done anything they could with Sky anyway since they refused to let them be engaged for real
And then they don't have to kill their only black love interest who only introduced one season prior and thus had more story left to tell.
Yup. That’s a really hot take.
I kinda agree mostly because I feel Bloom and Sky were kinda plain as a couple, but I dom’t like the “oh she is available for other guys now”
But we spent so little time with Nabu, his death felt cheap… and kinda racist.
True, i mean more like she is free for storylines with other guys since canon did run out of things to do with her
Oh! In my very personal opinion, I don’t like the would they/won’t they romantic plot, in general. I mean if the characters are already in a relationship I find more interesting (and mature) exploring that, relationships already have ups and downs, it doesn need a third person/are they cheating drama.
I have no idea what happened after season 4 :(

❤️BRING BACK GOOD GIRL CARTOONS❤️
Hey @catarium, I’ve been meaning to share something that’s been on my heart for quite a while now. I know I often find myself on your Tumblr page ranting about Winx Club and reminiscing about the good old days, but there’s something else I really need to get off my chest—something that’s been weighing heavily on me and I think it’s important to express.
You see, I’ve realized how much I truly despise how the late 2020s era has tarnished the magic of girl’s shows, especially with the rise of disappointing reboots. It’s heartbreaking to see how these beloved series, which once meant so much to so many of us, have been reduced to mere cash grabs, focusing solely on merchandise, toys, and superficial trends rather than the stories and messages that made them special. It’s painfully obvious that many of these productions seem to care little about the quality of the shows or the impact they have on young viewers—they're just trying to make a quick profit.
Looking back, I can’t help but feel nostalgic for the 2000s, a time when girl cartoons truly understood their importance. Those shows weren’t just entertainment—they were a celebration of girlhood in all its beautiful diversity. Whether you were a bookworm, a diva, a girly girl, or a tomboy who loved sports, you could see yourself reflected in those characters. They represented a wide spectrum of identities, backgrounds, and aspirations, teaching us that there’s no single way to be a girl. Even Barbie herself, through her shows and stories, demonstrated that girls can do anything—become doctors, chefs, astronauts, pop stars, lawyers, artists, and even presidents. These messages empowered us, showing that our dreams are valid and within reach.
Girl-centric cartoons from that era carried vital life lessons. They taught us about confidence, empathy, responsibility, and problem-solving. They emphasized that girls could be strong, smart, and capable of saving the day—challenging stereotypes and inspiring us to believe in ourselves. These shows celebrated friendship, emotional resilience, and embracing individuality, helping us understand that our uniqueness is our greatest strength.
What truly breaks my heart is knowing that the current generation of 2026 and beyond might never fully grasp how much those early 2000s girl shows shaped and uplifted us. They might not realize how those stories helped build our confidence, taught us compassion, and showed us the importance of staying true to ourselves. It’s as if the essence of what made those shows special is being lost in a sea of commercialization and superficiality.
I just want to say how much those shows meant to me—and to so many others. They were more than just cartoons; they were a vital part of our childhood, a source of inspiration and comfort. I hope someday, those stories will be remembered and cherished for the incredible impact they had, and that future generations will get to experience the magic and meaningful lessons we were lucky enough to grow up with. Thank you for listening to my heartfelt feelings. It truly means the world to me.
Thanks for sharing this, and I agree a lot with you.
But I think a lot of this is tied to the change in generation, during the late 90s and 2000s series try to be experimental, everyone was trying to make something different, and those who grew up during the 2000’s that were a transitional time could appreciate them. (even thou it had flaws that in retrosprective could even be offensive)
Nowadays media is simpler, more sanitized and made with profit first and foremost. They try to be ✨girl power✨ but come out preachy and insincere, even condicending.
When it come to magical girls I always go to anime, but Winx Club was special because I was the age of the girls when I start watching it, and they were easy to connect.
I’m still not sure who the reboot was for. In my opinion it was not for the OG 2000’s fans, but for the Nickelodeon era fans. They have a different vision from the series to older fans, good for them.
And I doubt we’ll get a series that would feel like the ones from the 2000’s, maybe because media production has changed, the public has change and so do we, I’m just happy to have grown with fun magical girls.
