Tbh I always imagined Lumata's timeline was kinda like how people HC Undertale's timeline, where it mirrors our modern day but in the future? But they still have a past that is similar to our past/present. Idk it's hard for me to explain.

Anyway I think the Lumata world has a cartoon called Steve Cosmos, a show where a kid and his magical guardians travel from planet to planet fighting against monsters and the oppressive empire run by the Grand Zirconia Authority (also due to knowledge of aliens and space travel being common by the events of Lumata, the "Sparkling Stones" are treated like fantasy creatures rather than other worldly beings).

Helios says he doesn't like it because "fantasy ruins scientific exploration by using simple childish concepts", but his lying ass watches it in secret lmao.

ALSKCHSJAJBDDJBSJDHSJSHD I LOVE THIS. I’d say the timeline is sort of like that because on one hand it’s impossible for me to realistically imagine what culture would be like a thousand years in the future, but ooooh that’s also so fun to think about!!!! So I’d say some of it mirrors our modern day..

I swear this is not a hate ask, I'm just curious about the fixation on Juniper? I really appreciate the depth given to this character because there's more thought put in than "bad guy the end", but I don't think I understand the way people (like the audience, not the characters) are enamoured with them. There is a Juniper fanblog(? I'm not sure this is the right word and I am sorry if it isn't)? I don't know. I promise again I am just confused, and this is maybe not the right place to ask this? You're the creator and do not control fandoms, obviously, but I don't want to start posting randomly if it's just something I'm misunderstanding 😭

Is it because the character is compelling? You write very interesting and beloved characters, and again the depth and work you put into them is incredible and very inspiring! I think I maybe answered my own question there, actually. Sorry😭

That blog isn’t a juniper fan blog- it’s juice’s lumata blog! He made Juniper and they’re a very compelling character and I’ve discovered I love writing villains. I’ve never really had a character that’s an oc that’s This insidious to work with, you know?

I was super intrigued by lupus automata back in 2019 when you first piloted it, and it's so incredible to see how your art and storytelling has evolved. your sophont designs were always charming but I just adore how distinct and deliberate they've become. they all have cleverly unique anatomy (I love the chunnyik especially), while also being appealing character designs-- as a biologist and amateur artist, it's wickedly impressive. all the best to you with this project and beyond :)

Some Steven Universe themed lumata doodles I put on my patreon about a week ago. This stemmed from Juice saying that Helios and Juniper were similar to Lapis and Jasper and me wanting to play dressup…. I made the boys’ outfits a bit more masculine on purpose, it felt weird otherwise
