After the module finished the final feedback from O’cee was given and my design was to be taken forward and will be continued to be developed. After some exchange of emails it was decided that the design with 3 identical legs was the best to go with. This design was not very developed and needed some way of attaching the 3 legs in the centre. The design is also still required to be flat pack and be able to be assembled on site. The orignal design had a simple glass top but after the second presentation it was suggested that wood could also be used on the top. The full wooden top hides the understructure but also gives it a different overall aesthetic. The wood and glass top allows you to see the legs but at the same time adds to the design and works with the rest of table.

So here it is finally. The 1:1 scale prototype is done and the final presentation to O’cee has taken place. The prototype looks closely like the final design with the exception of the thickness of the table surface which is made from 5mm clear polystyrene instead of 6mm toughened glass. This is also not a working prototype as due to certain restrictions in the workshop I was not able to make the legs from bent plywood as the mould would have been expensive to make and more than one attempt at bending the wood would have been needed. With the project deadline looming I did not have time to do this so I simply cut the shapes from a flat sheet of plywood. This means the legs flex a lot and cannot hold much more weight than they already hold with the top. There will be a 1-2 week wait to see whose design O’cee will be taking forward and I am hopeful as the presentation went well and the immediate feedback was good.

Final Presentation So here it is finally. The 1:1 scale prototype is done and the final presentation to O'cee has taken place.

These are the 3 designs I presented to O’cee design. The O’cee table, Hex table and Diamond Table. The 3 tables have bent plywood components and can all be manufactured at Stonebridge’s. O’cee design have decided that the O’cee Table is the most likely to fit into their current range of soft seating range. It is also the easiest to manufacture and has the most possible family of products. They also liked the diamond table as it stacks and tessellates. They were not interested into the hex table design. Full feedback will be available in the next week. I am currently working on a 1:1 scale model out of MDF cut on a CNC machine.

These are some of the concepts put into Solidworks and then rendered in materials that they would be made from. These are all still concepts and have been changed slightly or not at all. There has also been little thought into to construction as only the shapes and forms of the designs are in consideration at the moment. I do plan to make these in 5th scale soon using the materials I have in these renders or at least as close to the correct materials as possible.
