I think a lot about how so many people misunderstood Goh in the breakup scene… he wasn't just angry Ash decided to leave, he was hurt because Ash hadn't given him any sign of hesitation or consideration. He just decided, and it wasn't a difficult decision, either. In that moment, Goh realized Ash didn't feel the same way as him and it broke his heart💔

Couple this with the cinematography and Goh's failed confession that pivots into "The stars are really pretty tonight, huh?" … which mirrors a famous Japanese trope of saying "the moon is beautiful, isn't it?" When you really mean to say "I love you."

This scene is all about LOVE and how hard it is to say goodbye! Ugh I'm never getting over them 😭

I have a silly headcanon I was afraid to post tbh

Since Goh's VA voiced the Pokedex in HZ, imagine it's actually him being chosen to voice the Pokedex entries.

Weeks later, when Ash checks his Pokedex, he notices that something has changed. It's a voice that seems familiar, which he finds beautiful.

And so Ash is using the Pokedex way more often, with his current companions are confused by it. "Don't you already know everything about Pikachu??"

And he just shrugs and replies: "But that voice is nice!"

I finally encouraged myself to continue this drawing yesterday. The illustration was originally planned for 15th March of 2025 but it was interrupted for over an year due to several things getting in the way: It's now finished!

Normally I avoid backgrounds given the amount of extra work (and lack of confidence!) they mean to make something minimally believable. For this drawing I've opened an exception by pushing myself out of my usual comfort zone. There's room for improvement!

Ash and Goh are checking a map for other research requested by Professor Cerise. However, there's no consent of what direction to take...
