Cuphead blinked, confused at what Jay was gonna say. But when the human dropped the subject, something told Cuphead it would be wise to do the same despite having questions about what the other meant.
Mugman listened carefully to his reading, and small smile forming on his face. Yeah this sounded like him. Hearing how the decision of sticking with his brother was why he got one of the cards make Mugs smile more before hugging his big brother tight. âHe may lack common sense alot of the time but heâs still my brother and I love him!â
Cuphead grinned and hugged his brother tight in return. âAw love ya too Mugsy!â He replied. After a moment Mugs shook his head. âI understand just fine thanks! Cuppy, you go next!â He said, gesturing for Cup to go. Cuphead nodded and drew his own cards.
âThus the name for the Lovers card.â Jay quipped in between the two mentions of the word. He seemed entirely unmoved by the brothers being affectionate in front of him, though Blackie was smiling fondly at the display as if he thought it was just adorable.
Jay leaned forward to check what Cuphead had drawn from the reshuffled deck when he suddenly found his cat in position to bump foreheads. The comedic bonking of heads managed not to disrupt anything except for setting Jayâs hat askew, and Blackie looked very proud of himself.
âAnd I love you, dad!â
âTrying to work, dear.â Jay said simply, lifting the kitten and placing him out of the way. He paused to roll his eyes before adding âI love you too.â The blush on his pale cheeks faded as quickly as it had come while he put that feline show of adoration aside to read Cupheadâs fortune.
Cuphead had managed to pull the same card as Mugman first, though his had ended up facing away from him. The other two also faced away; cards labelled The Tower and The Fool.
Blackie read it too, only slightly inconvenienced by having been sentenced to the very edge of the counter away from the cards themselves. âGosh, yours are all reversed! Thatâs the reverse of what your brotherâs was! Thatâs a⌠double reversal!â he declared. âThatâs not, uh⌠necessarily bad, though! Iâm pretty sure!â
âFortune doesnât normally deal with something fully good or fully bad, it is what you make of it.â Jay said. âThough if youâre a realist, yes, reversed fortunes arenât typically great to hear. As for yours in particularâŚÂ
âReversed, The Lovers symbolizes internal conflict, or focusing on base desires instead of thinking things through. The Tower always means dramatic change; the reverse of it usually change that people around you consider your doing, or change that is - consciously or not - being fought against. The Fool symbolizes new beginnings, and reversed it means ignorance in the face of them; upright the fool means a benign lack of experience and a chance to learn without having to suffer first, not typical foolishness, but reversed it means missing something important and learning your lesson through a fairy taleâs worth of suffering. The reversed Fool can also refer to doing something more risky than is normally worth it, which is sort of like a new beginning that you willfully did to yourself.
âIâm sure you can draw your own conclusions about what important event in your past had a lack of thinking things through. The dramatic change in your present might just be the aftermath of how many people are still affected by what you did with those soul contracts, if you canât think of anything else more applicable. As for your future, Iâd say the cards are telling you youâll either have more trips into the world of gambling, or awkward teenage years.â
Blackie reached out as if trying to bat the tarot cards without getting close enough to actually manage it. âSometimes these predictions are mean, even though theyâre right; kinda like dad!â
âYour input is as invaluable as always.â Jay deadpanned..âQuestions? Comments? Moving right along to the third and final reading?â
