Here are a few favorites from Altea, Spain :’)Â
I am currently in Altea, Spain sitting outside a bar by the Mediterranean Sea writing this! Looking for wifi here is the worst! I’ve only been here for about 3 and a half days and I am already in love with it! I love the culture, the people, my team and everything! The Mediterranean Sea at night is the dreamiest and sweetest thing I have ever laid eyes on! I haven’t felt this happy and free in a really long time.
I’ve been learning a lot about a more organic way of evangelism. Our leaders have been really encouraging us to just immerse ourselves in Spanish culture and to just interact with people and be kind. Something they have been really enforcing is that instead of doing evangelism, we should simply live in a Christ like way and allow conversations about Christ to happen naturally. Of course speaking to the people here has been quite a challenge for me because I don’t speak any Spanish but my team has been really helpful and patient with me!
My team is made up of 11 individuals and 5 staff. They split us up into different apartments along the town of Altea and each of our apartments are spread out in a way that forms a cross. I am living with three other girls in a two bedroom apartment so we share a bed with one other person and one bathroom between the four of us. I have really enjoyed living with these girls and we have already bonded really well. We have a art gathering tonight in Old Town Altea where we will be showcasing some art work and interacting with a lot of the locals.
The culture here in Spain is so different and it has been so interesting to learn about. Our days usually look like getting up at about 8 and my team meets together to do a Bible Study and chat with one another. A huge part of the culture here is that everything goes way longer than expected because Spanish people are all about conversation. Each day looks a little different in the afternoon but lunch usually happens around 3-4 pm. The best thing is that the whole country takes a Siesta after lunch! (which basically means nap time) I believe that this is such a great way to live. The reason for the Siesta is that the Spaniards stay out until 1-2 in the morning on weekdays and 3-5 on weekends.Â
I’m really excited for the next three and a half weeks! As an intern for Edge my responsibilities include taking/gathering 40 photos a week and design advertisements for our art nights. We don’t have a videographer so that job fell into my co photographer and my lap. We are still trying to envision what that should look like and how to go about that!
Please pray that we would have intentional interactions with the people here! Please also pray that we would be get enough rest each night because our days are always long and packed with activity! The jet lag is still lingering a bit for some of us!
Best,
Cat
2015 was a blur. I’m glad it’s over and I can’t wait for all the new and exciting things that will happen this year. I have learned a lot about art and beauty in nature in 2015. I look forward to more experimentation with my camera and really pushing my creativity.I made a lot of new years resolutions this year and I’m excited to push myself to be a better person. Here’s to a fresh start and hopefully a happier year!
Here are a few of my favorites from flight retreat! I didn’t intend to get a lot of good shots but I wish I was able to take advantage of the snow and woodsy environment more.Â
Recently got to shoot some senior photos for Kristi. We actually went on a lot of practice shoots throughout the semester which is why she’s been on the blog a lot. Kristi has been one of the most inspiring people in my life this year and I’m so excited for all the things that she accomplish this coming year.Â

These are my favorite spreads from my latest project from my integrated design project. We were each assigned a genre of Jpop (I got JSKA) and we had to choose a band and an album from that band. From that we had to design seven spreads and a cover and end page.Â
I’m terribly awkward in front of the camera which is why I usually like to stay behind it. My sweet friend Kristi somehow managed to snap a few good ones though!Â
Emily at disneyland! We didn’t quite take full advantage of golden hour but we snuck in  few good shots! I’m slowly getting more opportunities to practice and I’m really excited about it!
Kristi is a beaut!

Sophomore year has been long and crazy but it’s finally over. I think that I have grown a lot especially in areas that I have been trying to work on. I’m excited to finally be able to take a breather from all that has been going on. I’m also excited for all the things that will happen this summer. I am hoping to serve at church again! I’ll also be taking a class at Rio Hondo which I’m not looking forward to..I’m also just really excited to see friends and hang out and catch up with people. This past semester I have really grown to be passionate about people and forming deep intentional relationships with others. I hope to do that this summer. I’ll also be working on some building projects with my dad so I can get ready to move into the house in the fall! This fall I’ll be taking on two design jobs as well as 18 units of classes. I’m actually a little bit terrified but I think it will be good to have a rather busy semester.Â
I recently took some photos of my friend Kristi! This photo session was super random because I was actually asking her to take some photos of me because I am preparing a portfolio and I needed some photos of myself. Unfortunately I am terribly awkward in front of a camera and no photos should ever be take of me ever..haha. Anyway Kristi handed me the camera and gave me some tips on how to pose and I snapped a few good ones of her in the process. I am currently in the process of transitioning to a different style of editing photos and figuring out what I like!Â
Here’s my beautiful little friend Torie who I love so dearly :) I have been getting a few more photo opportunities lately and it excites me!!
This weekend I shot my first prom! These girls were so cute and so sweet. It was so much fun and a really good experience. I also got the opportunity to do their hair and makeup!Â
