“I’ll be the first to admit I took major inspiration when writing this book. Crime never came to me naturally so I had to seek out sources if I wanted to execute this right. I searched high and low but movies back then didn’t attach a lot of emotions to evil doings. People were just bad to be bad. Until I found Goncharov. [Goncharov] was the perfect inspiration for this story. Long and gripping, never seeming to miss a motive or detail. I was crazy over it, probably watched it back to back at least a dozen times.”
