Olaf Heine will hold a master class in August for photography enthusiasts who dream of seeing how great photographs are born.

Photography has been the ever-present constant in my life since the age of eight and I love creating images today just as much as I did on day one. Only yesterday, a client and friend asked me how I maintain this enduring passion, how I keep coming up with new ideas, and how I have survived in this industry. To be honest, it is a valid question that does not allow for a simple answer... Everything is constantly changing. New techniques, new ideas, new generations of art directors, clients and collectors, new demands and approaches, new media formats - everything is constantly in flux, and it always remains absolutely exciting.
What I can say, however, is that I continue to draw the most inspiration from the the personal exchange, the interaction with the people in front of and behind my camera, the artists I have the privilege of collaborating with, the complexity of the the subjects, and the desire to express myself creatively while constantly focussing and shifting my perspective on the world. That is what drives and motivates me. Anyone interested in learning more about my approach, my perspectives, and my way of working now has the opportunity to do so.
As part of the HUMAN CONDITIONS exhibition at the Kunsthalle Rostock, I will be conducting a „masterclass" - I guess that's what they call it these days. The workshop invites participants to sharpen their personal perspective, incorporate their own experiences and observations into their work, and create a space where photography serves both as a tool for critical engagement and as a medium for personal storytelling. I aim to offer insights into my work - spanning three decades in the entertainment and art industries - that explores the relationship between expression, the body, and space. You can find more details via the link in my bio. I look forward to seeing you there.
