Ok horse friends I need opinions on something…the barn where I board my horses at is also where I live. I work there in exchange for rent, which is incredibly kind of the barn owner and her family to let me do and I’m grateful for it every day. Up until a few months ago, we had a really great, friend community here with no drama. Then this older lady showed up with her horse to board. I guess she knows the barn owner and decided to move here, but it’s been nothing but drama ever since.

I am not trying to be mean but this woman has several diagnosed mental illnesses (which is fine, so do many of us!) but the way they present is really upsetting to the environment here. The methods she uses to work her horse are things I have never seen in person and I have been in this industry for over 10 years. She’s trying to get her horse to engage his hind end by wrapping a shock collar around his tail and buzzing it when she wants him to engage…the barn owners husband also saw her kick the horse in the face…which I assume he told the barn owner…

This woman is also rude. She was rude to a friend of mine who is a trainer here. She is rude to me. She has made it clear in her actions she wants to be the only person in the indoor arena at a time. When she’s at the barn, nobody comes to ride. If they do, they don’t feel they can use the indoor arena, which we all pay board monthly, and use of that arena is included in that board…

My issue is if I even bring anything up to the barn owner because she is aware this woman and I have had issues since she moved in. She seems to have a soft spot for this woman for whatever reason and I assume she at least knows about her husband saw because he is the kind of person to call it like it is. I feel guilty if I ask her to remove a paying boarder from the premises. She doesn’t act like this in front of the barn owner and I have no idea what to even do. I don’t want come across that I think this woman should leave just cuz her and I have problems and I’m being sensitive. I just don’t know :(
