The Moody Minerva and the Headmaster || Min and Severus
She nodded and slowly pulled herself up so she was up right. Him speaking let her know that she wasn’t in purgatory which she wasn’t sure was a relief.
Minerva cleared her throat, holding her hands out for him to help her up to her feet. “I don’t know. I’ll go see Madam Pomfrey to make sure,” she replied, her voice thick and hoarse.
Despite their public rouse of not getting along he cared for her wellbeing and as such kept a close eye on her.
When she held her hands out he offered his own to help her to her feet. “I’d advise to avoid any glimpse of the Carrows’ in the process to say they are unhappy is an understatement.”
“I want to see Draco and I don’t expect him to want to come see me here, I want him to come home and see me and for me to see Astoria. So…I’m selling the manor. I don’t know who will want to buy it, but I thought I would try,” she let out a soft sigh.
Severus listened to her and simply nodded, not wanting to argue any point about the Manor or why most people would have no interest in it. “I suppose that’s logical.”
“Hm.” Sʜᴇ ʟᴇᴀɴᴇᴅ ʙᴀᴄᴋ ᴀɢᴀɪɴsᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛᴇʀ, ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜɪɴɢ ʜɪᴍ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴀ ᴄᴜʀɪᴏᴜs ғʀᴏᴡɴ, ᴛʜᴇɴ ɪɴǫᴜɪʀᴇᴅ ɪɴ ᴀ ᴄᴏɴᴠᴇʀsᴀᴛɪᴏɴᴀʟ ᴛᴏɴᴇ, “For your private stores?”

Severus glanced over at her at the question. “Naturally, I wouldn’t waste the time if it were for the classroom.”
He didn’t care the state of the ingredients the students used but when it came to his own potions he was incredibly particular.
“Yes I’m sure but…it’s hard for me too,” she admitted with a sigh. “I’ve been thinking about it and I’m wondering about selling the manor,” she admitted to him, glancing up at his face. “I have too many bad memories here.”
“I did not imply that it wasn’t, Narcissa.” He naturally meant no ill will about the whole thing he only wished to show he understood why Draco was avoiding the manor, a place that for lack of better words was a nightmare for the boy. When she said she was thinking about selling the manor that surprised him, it had been in the Malfoy family for decades. “Are you?”
“Draco is well. I don’t hear from him much as he is off with Astoria most of the time. But every so often he sends me an owl. I’d like for him to stop by, but…I know he’d rather not. Which I know it has nothing to do with me, but…,” she paused and snorted. “It’s not like I can meet him in Diagon Alley for everyone to see.”
Severus listened to her as she spoke about Draco, it was understandable why he chose his distance considering all that had transpired. “I’d imagine for him it’s a difficult position.” He spoke slowly before pausing a moment, understanding what she meant about Diagon Alley, he himself had avoided public venues for the want of avoiding ‘nosey’ eyes. “Understandable.”
“As you can see, I’m perfectly fine,” she picked up her book again. “There is no need to check on me, however, I do appreciate it.” She sighed and looked back down at her book, not wanting to talk about her emotions, even if that wasn’t something Severus wanted to talk about either. The thought of them made her want to shut down.
‘Clearly.” His reply was simple and yet contained so much in the tone alone, he didn’t believe her, not by a long shot. Naturally he didn’t press the subject any further, that wasn’t exactly in his personality. “Draco is well I trust?”

Severus added the small bottle into the basket he’d been using to gather ingredients. He was surprised to have found that she was the owner of the shop, it wasn’t exactly what he thought Hermione would have taken interest in doing considering her past.
“I simply need to restock..” He muttered as he looked over at her.

Her heaven was peaceful, quiet, and warm. Her favourite cosy chair next to the fire and soft music in the background. Minerva blinked several times as she felt herself relaxing into the chair. She heard muffled voices, laughter even, causing her to smile.
That was until she felt a jolting of her person. She grabbed the arms of the chair but another jolt came followed by more. She cried out, wanting it to stop so she could rest!
Minerva cried out, gasping for air as she came to. Her eyes flew open and locked onto Severus’ as he came into focus. She didn’t speak, afraid she had been drawn out of heaven to be tossed into hell or purgatory where images of one of the boys she failed was looming over her.
He continued to mutter various spells under his breath in an attempt to render aid in any way that he could, not knowing if anything he was doing was going to help.
As soon as she cried and and gasped for air there was a brief sigh of relief on his behalf before he stood and looked down at her, wondering what exactly had occurred. “I trust you’re okay?”
She looked up from her book and smiled gently at Severus. “Hello, Severus. It’s good of you to stop by. Is there something you need that I can help you with,” she cleared her face, her face blank of emotion and rather more stoic than usual. She was feeling dead inside and she was generally surprised that he had stopped by to see her.
Severus didn’t return the smile, it wasn’t all to often he smiled in general and since the end of the war it was less so. He inclined his head as a return greeting before standing before her. “I merely sought to check on you.” He uttered the statement without insinuating that she was in bad shape but rather in a tone that encased a bit of concern.

Severus walked about the shop, examining various ingredients and finding himself impressed with both the selection and quality that there was to chose from. When he heard the calling out he faintly felt the voice to be familiar but put it at the back of his mind as he continued to browse.
As he reached for a phial of dragon’s blood he looked up as he heard his name expressed in such a way. His eyes locked on hers for a moment before he turned his attention back to the phial. “Miss Granger.” He replied in his usual tone.

Minerva went through the motions as she laid there, her breathing dwindling down. All the regrets and mistakes flooded her mind. She could have done better. She could have given more, smiled more, chose kinder words.
Dougal came to, almost in a welcoming way. She wanted to scoff even though that was one dream she wished she had chased. A life of simplicity and domestic muggle living. She wondered how many grandchildren she would have had had they married.
By the time Severus had arrived, she was already unconscious and paler than ever. Minerva was welcoming a death she didn’t want. There was too much left to do and letting Severus down by dying…well that was just insulting.
As soon as there was no reply from the woman who laid on the ground he became concerned. He knelt down to check for any signs on life and noticed though unconscious she was still alive and breathing. “Minerva, I know you’ve said you’re old but I’d rather you not die... at least not now.” He muttered as he started to decide what to do. His best bet was to get her to the hospital but he wasn’t sure how he was going to do so unseen.
Various options ran through his head before he took out his own wand and started to mutter random healing spells, hoping one of them would come of use to him in this situation.

Her heartbeat was in her ears now, loud, banging, and slowing. Time almost stood still as her green eyes met his for a brief moment. She put every last ounce of energy into walking out, clutching the door and then stone wall. Minerva needed to put space between them, get some place private and send a patronus. She knew Severus couldn’t come to her aid and she sure as hell didn’t want either of the Carrows touching her.
She walked along the wall to nearest door and pushed it open, falling instantly to ground. This was it? This was how she goes out? Bested by a heart attack? Forcing herself over onto her back, Minerva fought for breath and to get her wand out.
Severus caught her eye for a brief moment and knew well that she was not well, he controlled his thoughts as well as he could as he watched her before he turned his attention back to the Carrows.
For a matter of minutes he carried on a conversation with them, complimenting their discipline usage despite his not agreeing with it. Once he had bid them a goodbye and watched them walk out of the room he stood there alone for a few minutes. Once he was in the hallway he looked around the barren hall and ducked into the closest vacant room to find her on the ground. ‘That was foolish.” He said in a near whisper as he put his usual wards on the room.
@she--knows-it-all
Since the days after the war Severus had become more of a private person than he was previously, not showing his face in public often considering the muttering that often followed his appearance. He had survived the horrendous attack, not without scars of course and was once again employed at Hogwarts, a familiarity to it all. During the war his usual supplier of ingredients had perished which left him without the quality ingredients he had grown so used to. At the talk of there being a fairly new apothecary in Hogsmeade he set out to procure all that he needed. He strode down the path from Hogwarts, his usual black robe billowing in his wake, with some speed he was soon in the little village and in front of the apothecary. After a moment outside he stepped in and started to look about.
