For anyone who missed it on 12/07/14 Mr Man Anthony Naples released what i believe to be his Debut E.P. on Will Bankheads TTT (The Trilogy Tapes) imprint. The music the label has put out thus far has been nothing but forward thinking and a delight to listen to, this new Anthony Naples release is nothing short of either of those things. 4 Tracks of housey dancefloor puzzlers starts with what I consider the most club orientated track on the E.P. and also my favourite. Perro is a stripped back lofi almost Photek sounding house track, soft choppy synths sitting perfectly in the background under some crispy organic shakes and hits giving the track and very heads down feel, layered with a bass heavy distorted 4/4 kick you can hear how this track can go from a nice listening experience at home to a strong dance track in a club. The 2nd track on the E.P. Zipacon is a bit more experimental than the first. Strong beaty distorted 909’s played subtly in the background of some soft keyboard chords and dubbed out delayed melodies, this track is really carried by Anthony Naples production techniques and how he can find ways to create interesting sounds. 3rd track comes the very 90’s house More Problems, personally for me this is my least favourite track on the E.P. but thats purely from my taste, no one can fault the production talent on the track. 90’s sounding house piano riff layered with various delays and variations in sample lengths dropped over and very fitting 4/4 house beat, again distorted and lofi sounding, as if you have just snorted your first line of cocaine and your sifting through your dads old party mix tapes. Last but not least on the E.P. is the track Crazy Spirit and that is exactly what it sounds like. short delays and filtering of a strange organ sound loops over those lofi distorted drums, piercing cymbals and flapping sub bass. Anthony still manages to find himself creating a strange serenity amongst the chaos. I thoroughly recommend this record and supporting The Trilogy Tapes.
