story time: i had a period that lasted THREE FUCKING MONTHS and it culminated in having blood clots the size of my hands coming thru for DAYS. i was puking, crying, writhing on the floor, and i showed up to the ER and then Urgent Care twice and all three times, a male doctor said there was nothing to do, it was just an irregular period, and i needed to just ride it out. they also refused to give me any kind of painkiller because they thought i was being “melodramatic” and “probably had an addiction.” i missed an entire week of work, not only bc the pain was unbearable, but bc i was bleeding so much that i would soak thru an overnight tampon *and* overnight pad combined in less than an hour.  

then a couple months later i went to planned parenthood bc it was happening again and i wanted to see if they had any advice. a very kind woman nurse practitioner gave me a prescription for progestin, which stopped the bleeding right away. it was as simple as giving me a $10 bottle of pills of a natural chemical that’s already in my fuckin body to make it all stop. after i saw that work so well, i went back and asked that same nurse practitioner about what meds would be best for my PCOS and regulating my periods, and she gave awesome, thoughtful advice that worked great for me and now i don’t have this problem anymore.

It’s ok if you have long periods where you identify as your agab. You are not faking it. Gender fluidity just means your gender will change, and there are no rules saying how often this happens. Even if you spend weeks or months at a time feeling as your agab, that doesn’t make you cis or invalidate your identity.
