The smart and amazing Maina:

The seer is not a position for someone as gentle-hearted as Suru, a seer must be decisive, willing to sacrifice a few for the needs of the many. Suru on the other hand yearns to do nothing more than to at least try.

While the theatre still thrived, she was less of a character, and more of a narrative device to push others forward, future spoken in riddles and hidden between the lines. Never for her to have her own story, always in the background, a looming, intimidating figure, a representation of the unknowable future. Sometimes the hero would sneer and curse, say the seer was no help at all when she'd given a vague warning of things to come, other times they merely blankly stared before nodding, and then the scene would change.

She had no agency of her own on the stage, and the king ensured she'd have none after the theatre closed for the night. Implications and threats towards the people she cared for ensured she'd stay near the king, mingle with his court and make her home in the garden, so none could conspire against him with the help of her gift. Vague threats of her own ensured her own survival, future never took kindly to those who took away its tellers, she'd told him.

The king never struck her, rather he used her nature against her, and swore to harm others if she were to disobey him. So she remained in his court, told him the future and how to get what he wanted. How much can you argue, fight back, when the king says he'll kill in your name? What more is there to do, besides to as he says? Nothing, not to her. She refused to cause that to others so she agreed to follow him to his castle. Agreed to aid him. Agreed to be locked in that tower. Agreed to be sealed away to quell his paranoia entirely unaware of the rope she'd been feeding him had slowly formed a noose around his neck, it was always only a matter of time before he fell, and caused his own failure.

Even after the king fell, the people had not forgotten the seer inaction, seemingly refusing to aid the kingdom in its darkest hour, crown loyalist on the other hand angered by her refusal to warn anyone of the king's demise.

Now, the poor seer, can't help but feel like wasted space. Perhaps, if she were to not be there at all, another could inherit her gift and make use of it.

Or maybe, she'll find someone who'll tell her the weight of an entire kingdom is far too heavy of a burden for her to carry alone, and perhaps it's about time for her to let that weight fall off her heart.

Less so that she wishes to not live, and for anyone to remind her her none of this was her fault. It was completely out of her control. Not for her to carry all the blame.

Trying to act normal when the Neptuix2 slips into my inbox <3 Maina wouldn't focus on battles AT ALL. Trying to be more ambitious than what her employer (brother) would allow isn't exactly the best decision. Even then, Maina just isn't competitive. Though I can see Maina training Pokémon to help with her job! She wouldn't be limited to a single type, just going based on vibes and functionality (Cause that's what i do)

She has her trusted assistants/guards! (Not using Pokémon names cause I don't know the names, but I do know how they look!) And then Maina has her main/d helpers!

Then lastly, she has these two more as emotional support and to just look cute (Maina loves to baby them)

Maina is someone who had their confidence and sense of worth broken down intentionally through years of verbal abuse/gaslighting. Crownus couldn't handle the mere idea of his sister possibly liking someone more than him. That was his sister, his family, his responsibility; he was Maina's northern star, she was Crownus' treasured diamond. That's how it was supposed to be. No one would be able to understand Maina better than him. Maina didn't need anyone else to make her happy, she had her family and that was that.

So, why was she with the wizard again?

Crownus and Maina:

"Mayday, Mayday, do you copy me? I'm feeling incomplete in the world you made for me."

Crownus wanted two things in life:

1. Have absolute power and dominance over the kingdom of marionettes. He was made king for a reason, and because he was chosen to be king, it was his right to abuse crown. He could not fulfill his duty if did not indulge in cruelty.

2. Keep his sister blissfully ignorant of all the atrocities he has committed. He wanted to have tea happily, without a care in the world, with Maina, whilst being able to harm the others in the shadows. After Maina cut her hair, Crownus began to slowly isolate Maina completely from everyone else. This way, she would never find out the truth: "the missing puppets? Fret not."

"Mayday, Mayday, can you hear me now? Cause I've been counting down, and baby, we can't stick around."

Early day Maina could only be described as crude and overly confident. It was no secret to anyone that she prideful and pompous for being the king's sister (just ignore the fact that she was pushed into being a maid). But after cutting her hair, the breakdown began. First it was small comments here and there; Crownus belittled the way she talked, her hobbies, interests, behaviors. He pushed blame onto her, made her to feel like the "villain". Crownus made Maina believe that she was an awful person (montra—) to the point that she learned to loathe herself.

It was slow, it was brutal, it was swift.

Before anyone knew it, Maina "matured", becoming the sweet and quiet maid. And before Maina realized it, she couldn't remember the last conversation she had with anyone that didn't concern the king.

Maybe somewhere in the back of her mind, Maina knew about the abuse the king inflicted on everyone else. Then again, maybe it was the refusal to acknowledge any of it that kept her happy. Where did she think those missing puppets went?

Maina and Wizzy:

Maina finds love repulsive, that is fact true since the day she opened her eyes for the first time. She always subconsciously drew a line between "everyone else" and "me and my brother". Loving anyone as a friend or love interest was a useless waste of time and thought. It was repulsive to think that such emotion existed in the world. Yet, despite that, Maina and and Crownus do love each other (platonically). That was her brother, his sister, their only family, two pieces cut from the same cloth.

Then the wizard showed the maid the stars.

Maina didn't know what to make of the other puppets. Just people fulfilling a role, not friends or family, just puppets. She would go around the kingdom with a smile on her face, helping everyone with whatever they needed the best she could. Maybe she did it out of guilt...but nevertheless, Maina did all she could. She never did engage with anyone on a personal level. Cause, after all, who could understand her?

Her first impression of Wizzy went something like this: "Who does he think he is to talk to me as if we're friends???"

I don't think Maina liked him at all. She found him annoying and a nuisance to her work. Wizzy would unintentionally interrupt her with rambles and theories of magic; Maina, meanwhile, just smiled and feigned interest. He made it a habit to bring her flowers after she mentioned liking them once.

Maina wanted Wizzy out of her life. He only ever did disgust her. His affections and admiration for her was not at all as discrete as he hoped them to be! Anyone could see it a mile away, so of course Maina knew! She wanted to hurt the wizard every time she saw him. How dare Wizzy show Maina something as repulsive as love? It made her sick.

Of course, Maina blissfully was ignorant of what the wozard felt towards her during that time.

It was only after Wizzy brought Maina to his study, that he showed her something that would change her at her core. Through spells and potion mixing, he managed to create an illusion similar to the naked-starry night: it was the most beautiful thing she ever saw. This event changed something in their dynamic—Maina still didn't like him, but she began to tolerate him just a bit.

Actually.........this meme template was what I was thinking about a few days ago 🥹

Just pondering how one of the few "personal" interactions Maina had with someone. Thinking how Suru and Maina accidentally encounter each other outside (at night) or an indoor projection room (think a planetarium) with pictures of the solar system playing on repeat.

Short blurb below

Maina is as silly and dense as a honey bee. She wants to be happy and so she is. Maina wanders from place to place as the dutiful maid she is, helping everyone—from the farmer to knight. Then on days when all is well, and the king isn't as insistent that she stay by his side, Maina will find her way around the theater: somewhere quiet, somewhere where she can just be "the Maid"

"There you see Jupiter, then Mars, then Earth. Beyond Neptune, we have the Kuiper Belt. Beyond even the planets and asteroids, there are stars. Perseus, Heracles, Orion: tales and songs of greek heros walk among those stars."

Maina never expected for someone to walk in on her indolent bouts. Much less entertain her pathetic interests. Even so, isn't it nice to have one singular person to talk to about these pointless things?

"Mrs. Seer, do you see humans walking alongside with those heros with the stars?"

The seer, the wizard, the maids, the knight—Maina can't seem to remember a single conversation they had together without watchful eyes over them.

"I can't forsee the future of all of mankind. Such feat is way beyond my capabilities. Besides, I don't need the future to be able to answer that "

"Is that so?"

Maina glanced towards the seer from the corner of her eye. How curious this giant lady was to to placate the childish musings of a traitorous maid. What use was there for a seer that doesn't need the future?

"After all, isn't walking on Earth—a planet this close to the Sun—already walking with the stars?"

To walk with the stars, to watch the stars with a fallen star, to pacify a shattered diamond.

It took a few minutes before Maina could compose herself mentally. Turning to the seer with much vigor, she asked with a smile on her face,

"Su—Mrs. Seer, do you like stars?"

Suru looked at the maid quite amused. It was everyday that you saw such a light expression from king's maid.

"Yes, they sure are amazing."

Fury often wears baggy clothing and dresses. She would prefer clothing that hugs her body, but she does not want any human to realize she isn't one of them. If she's in a more private area, or can get away with her puppet parts being out (such as, during some sort of costume party or a cosplay event), she's going to dress up in something like...Monster High clothes?

When I was drawing her human version, I was imagining her wearing what G3 Draculaura wears. I think she would really like the fashion in Monster High.

Jewelry with pink gems would also make her very happy, and I think she would wear many arm bands and necklaces, but of course, only in the safety of her human friend's house.
