Spins into here like a beyblade. DREAM, WHEN IG ET YOU DRAEM WHEN IG ET YOU I SAW THAT REBLOG DREAM LIKE RN
Ahem
Here is my answer to that <3
Wheylan gives Dukemir one of his old scarves, something that had been replaced with his short cloak years ago. It's much too long for Wheylan, and it kept getting in the way with his work, quite the safety hazard.
It used to be something of comfort for Wheylan, but why not give it to his dear spotlight. If Dukemir won't use it, maybe Ryan can for a nest somewhere in the kingdom
Wink wink wink
SAYS YOUUU HOW COULD U >:[
Safe to say he enjoys the scarf. He'll probably wear it when he needs to comfort himself so that he doesn't get upset infront of others. And... for other uses. Ryan isnt touching that scarf. He doesn't want to know what Duke uses that scarf for. The main reason Duke doesn't wear it all the time is because it might get in the way when he duels Knighter or bring up too many questions about his relationship, especially for nosey nobles. Although some nobles might be asking about his relationship with the wheelwright anyways.
Ok bee Mead Seller name is Brair short for Briar Rose ( Disney can't trade mark unisex fantasy name?l)
They give Mead to Gravelyn
How they like it?
They mask
Salutations again Sipped! I can't draw barrels for the life of me.
Gravelyn would probably enjoy it. To be given a gift like mead from the Mead Seller, why, she wouldn't complain because it's a gift. She would, though, make comments if something can be adjusted in regards to taste.
Gravelyn: "Oh hey, for me? You didn't have to do that. Do you have any free time? Like, right now? Let's have a drink together, new buddy, before Wheylan finds out. Hehe, you didn't hear that last part though, yeah?"
If Briar doesn't drink, Gravelyn would gladly drink both tankards. She'd probably also keep whatever container the mead came in to remind herself of Briar's generosity.
Both Wheylan and Gravelyn are NOT sticking around to see what will happen.
That is wayyyyyy out of Gravelyn's paygrade and even if Wheylan has his red flags about pain and death, he'd rather die to something really nice, like the sun or something. That's also bad, actually, uh...hm.
But, yes, they're running away and as far as they can from Typhon. If running isn't an option, Wheylan will use their shadow powers to slow Typhon down so they can run away while Gravelyn would shrink down and hide away in the theater's cracks and slip away.
Marshall Mancini, my guy of little guys and the longest, probably horrific history (in my mind) ever. One of my oldest ocs dating back to the great 2019, tragic.
There has been... lots... and lots... and lots of reworks made of him.
What did stay was his love for paperwork, his caffeine addiction, and the crabbiness to last a lifetime.
One of my first drawings of this guy ever was my first ever drawing on procreate! Honestly, it was kinda crazy-
Then his weird redesign of like... what... 2023? Then again, it did spark the whole Mossblin project again.
He was actually just a random ass oc made for whenever me & @viva-la-runaway used to roleplay with, stuck into whatever fandoms we hyperfixated in. Like I think we shipped him with either Medic or Sniper from TF2 once 😭
That era was crazy.
Now this man has extensive, angsty lore! Yippee!
My art insta was once called honey_dew_drawz, still my art!
This man is actually getting... another redesign.... soon. One does not know when one will get to that... I am moving out in the next few weeks and I'm just like dying fr
Though, I don't know if you guys could tell, in the first picture with his ref sheet, he actually got his skin toned a little darker!
That is because he is from Paldea, but for the region Mossblin, there is lack of sun but the paler look was just so hard to render with and it just didn't fit well. So the new, new redesign will also incorporate the same colors!
He also has a partner! Owned by @beelivableflop -! I need to draw them- the brain worm has been there and it's been hard to release those thoughts as of late. I'm trying to get back in the swing if things, hopefully!
Enough of my yapping, enjoy some Marshall dump from throughout the years!
The Duke and The wheelwright have an intresting relationship i never truly thought of separate from the group until I started talking to Bee a little more. THEN I STARTED LOVING THEM. They have their own way of being doomed but not as direct and honestly horribly as Eden and Dukemir. BUT if it exist I have a way of making it angsty, YOU CAN'T STOP ME.
Wheylan/Wheelwright is by @beelivableflop
Yapping starts here:
Lets start with Wheylan in their relationship and then ill get onto Duke. [Again most is this is from a very duke heavy perspective, and although I am trying to stay as true as cannon as I can I am not Bee]
Wheylan:
For me, Wheylan and Duke has issues in and and outside of the relationship. Wheylan being agressive at times to people who talk shit about Dukemir mainly pesants since he's scared of the nobility. Even as just a friend he's protective of Dukemir's name to the point he would get into bar fights for him. Duke of course is not the biggest fan of this, especially since he has some truama relating to it that I will get into when I go into more details on the past of Dukemir in another post.
Wheylan is also has a mis use of his powers [this mainly being about his shadows] but can be related to Dukemir in some way, now that he is dating the grand duke, it puts a lot more respect from others in the theater, he can use this to get out of trouble and use Dukemir for his strength, status and money. Now Bee has said that he would only use Dukemir for certain things, gaslighting him into resting and claiming it as spending quality time with him, using his money for dresses and getting Wheylan out of the dungeon after the result of a bar fight. He also uses how Dukemir can be accidentally intimidating and strength to keep himself safe outside of the theater. This can be seen as manipulative to people outside of the relationship. Duke just thinks he's being useful and helpful. So he'll do it anyways even if it is in some ways manipulative.
Wheylan's enabler tendencies and intrest in pain and death also come into their relationship as Dukemir becomes more and more possessive over time. Wheylan probably wouldn't really mind it as long as he's allow to see his friends, to which duke would agree to but would suddenly start coming with Wheylan instead of allowing them some alone time. He may also start to limit their time outside of the theater because he deems it "unsafe." Wheylan doesn't go outside of the theater much anyways other than for rein fare or a fun festival which means that Dukemir's possessiveness is left unchecked.
Not only that but if Dukemir gets a little more agressive which he can be in certain situations, Wheylans intrest in pain and death will just say "daym thats hot..." instead of ensuring that Dukemir doesn't get too agressive. If Wheylan isn't showing that its a problem then Dukemir is going to think it's something that Wheylan wants and in a way it is.
Dukemir:
Duke has a few problems when it comes to his love for Wheylan. We already established his possessiveness and how he would start to limit Wheylan's ability to leave his side in a very controling way. He can also get agressive when it comes to Wheylan's safety, especially around humans. With other puppets duke is a bit more gentle, but around humans and Dukemir is full defense mode.
At the rein fair outside the theater, Duke will still talk to humans and act friendly, but will probably keep atleast one hand near, or on Wheylan at almost all times. Either holding his hand, on his waist something to keep his dear heart close to him.
Duke doesn't mind humans but doesn't like it when their around other puppets. He knows how cruel they can be. For Wheylan he will behave but if someone tries to give Wheylan any trouble and they'll have to go through Dukemir. Although most of the time, around humans Duke is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. If a human tries to start shit with Dukemir about Duke then he'll just try to de-escilate the situation. Hes not trying to get into a fight. Hes just there for Wheylan.
Dukemir has a tendency to stalk, its part of how he knows where and whats happening with most of everyone. He knows most of the other puppets routines from either talking to them or stalking them. For him its a safety measure for most its probably fucking creepy as shit but... not many of the other puppets know he does it. Wheylan might know but toss it up as "eh it's duke tho. He's the nicest guy ever he's not going to stalk someone" while duke is actively stalking him. Although with Wheylan being into pain and death, he probably wouldn't care and accidentally encourage Dukemir's stalking.
In the end I feel like Dukemir and Wheylan are kinda stuck in like a forever redflag relationship where Wheylan doesn't stop Dukemir until his possessiveness gets too far and Duke doesn't care if Wheylan is manipulating him sometimes because he just wants to be helpful to Wheylan even if it means at the cost of himself.
Thats all I've got the brain juice to type for now. :3
Cute picture before I get into the nitty gritty :)
Alright, cute time over.
In this TedTalk, I will discuss Wheylan's perspective and try to use fancy colors this time around. Let's dissect what good friend Dream has said, dear readers.
I'm feeling a lot of feels right now so if this sounds incoherent that's why-
"You are not him, yes?"
Number one: Wheylan being aggressive towards others when they slander Dukemir.
Correct, though it comes with layers. Wheylan will only get "I will be thrown out of the bar" violent when someone compares Dukemir to Crownus specifically. No one in the kingdom is as bad as Crownus, or so he thinks. Who knows, though?
Still, Wheylan does not like using violence if it's not needed. They're tired of violence, but it is useful in some situations, sometimes even necessary.
Anyone on or below his rank in the kingdom is easy to fight. Anyone above is risky, but if pushed enough, Wheylan will fight them. Not that it's happened. The pub is much too inappropriate for many of the noble folk. Plus, I don't think many of them want to hear the crass language usually used in there. Or the smell.
Number two (and number three): Misuse of powers in regards to the duke and the enabling aspect.
When it comes to using Dukemir's status. Absolutely. At some point, Wheylan even wondered if Dukemir could help him with some family matters (this is being gatekept for now). However, that seemed like a pain, and Wheylan wasn't desperate enough to ask for something like that.
Wheylan likes the protection that Dukemir gives, and it's genuinely not meant to come off as manipulative. The other's company is treasured dearly, especially when Wheylan doesn't want to spend time with friends or by themself. Though...they do feel at least a little bit bad about getting chucked into the dungeons when the fights go too far.
Oh, and the money. The money is a great benefit. However, Wheylan does feel bad for accepting such generosity, even if the two are in a relationship. The dresses he specifically would ask Dukemir to buy are an extremely specific shade of green and always on discount. Minimum 25% or else that's coming out of Wheylan's pocket somehow, even if it means sacrificing ren faire time (unless they're somehow a worker there, then it's the best of both workers).
When it comes to misusing their own powers? There's a good amount of hesitance. Precious and Soleil are his treasured shadows, meant to comfort first, hurt in desperation. Without those shadows, he's not able to defend himself or others very well, and if they're compromised, it takes a lot mentally and emotionally out of him to bring them back. This connects to how they really, really don't want to use their powers for something negative.
As one of Wheylan's red flags is their enabling of others, he would very much enable Dukemir's unhealthy means of 'protecting' others, but only to a degree. If/When Dukemir becomes too controlling and stifling (intruding on too much of their space and time for friends or their lonesome), Wheylan would feel they have no use but to weaponize Precious and Soleil against Dukemir. Soleil would use the shield to push Dukemir away and Precious would hold the pickaxe to the other's throat. Wheylan would use the opportunity to try to get away.
"Thou art not him, aye? I do not wish to harm thee, mine own light. Do not force mine own hand lest we both fall to despair, I beg o' thee. O, how I beg..."
Number four(?): Outside time & Humans feeling like potential dangers to Wheylan
Ren faires are Wheylan's breather from the kingdom, though, of course, they're not going to stay away forever. Dukemir joining? Amazing, great, extremely risky since they're shadow people and Wheylan takes great care into covering up all his own weak spots. At least his boyfriend has a disguise that works well?
Not all humans are bad, but all the years of people coming in and hurting the puppets only makes Dukemir's overprotectiveness all the more endearing. The handholding is especially nice, though does make it a little awkward when any of Wheylan's potential friends from the faire try to pull him away from the other.
If Dukemir is aggressive in this situation, no matter how unwell Wheylan is (unless they're just absolutely kept within the kingdom walls), the wheelwright is going to kick the other in the ankle. Neither of them need to be compromised at the faire, and...well...Wheylan does secretly like it, BUT STILL! IT'S BAD! IT'S BAD AND IT ATTRACTS MORE ATTENTION THAN NECESSARY.
Number five: The stalking issue
Admittedly, yes, Wheylan really would doubt that Dukemir would stalk them. However, the thought has definitely occured to them. They don't like looking at others in the eyes, and they don't like eyes being on them. They would question it at some point in the relationship, especially as it grows more obvious that Dukemir doesn't want them out of sight. But, well, like, I...I don't think it's going to take much to placate/convince Wheylan until, as Dream said, it gets EXTREMELY bad.
"I have something o' grave importance to confess, mine own dear duke. I fear I am haunted, watched by some greater being. I beseech thee, I pray you find a way to fix this and free mine own woeth"
When it gets this bad, we refer back to the point about Wheylan using their shadows to threaten Dukemir and being torn between hiding away (which won't be possible) and running back into Dukemir's arms because what other comfort do they truly have left?
Their somewhat idolized view of Dukemir is both completely shattered and completely evolved, twisting into some sick version of a knight in shining armor. Dukemir means well, he won't hurt Wheylan intentionally, he doesn't hurt Wheylan intentionally and that's infinitely better than Crownus...right?
Verdict: "Love is not love if it is through the lens of control."
At least it's not another specific pairing because that's even worse
Here's a doodle of Wheylan slowly changing overtime as the cage closes around them and they start mimicking what Dukemir looks like with his own twist to it and was totally not my excuse to draw Wheylan in anything but his usual clothes.
Almost everything I have tried writing for ShadowGuard has just turned into DarkCage. I'll feed ShadowGuard and GraveCavities soon enough I swear. AccidentProne was a one-off thing that would be more of a friendship, if anything.
"Behold! The answer to our below average heights: the humble crate! Simply place this behind a convenient bush or other coverage, and voila! We tower over the kingdom! A-Ahem, fair warning, I have often come across the minor issue of my coverage moving at unfortunate times..."
"I have heard Jestyn describe this predicament as a 'running gag'."
The Wonderful Wheylan belongs to @beelivableflop !
Brainworm, I fear. I don’t have a justification for this other than thinking that maybe Countine and Wheylan might be friends.
I know she doesn’t have a head, but, maybe they both do some sort of charades to understand one another?
I was mostly brainrotting about the ships involving Dukemir. I wonder how Countine would feel about her old friend finding new people in his life that can be with him so intimately. Would she reveal herself to these people to test them? If you, dear readers, have read this post, then we saw that Dukemir dreamt of Countine asking him to let go/basically die. Is that really her, or is that his version of her? Where do the lines blur, where do they not? It’s interesting to think about…
Realized I made Wheylan’s height which included their hair and last I checked, we’re not supposed to include that. So…oops? He’s like…so short now than I’m thinking about it, for a puppet. Like…6 ft tall…
Do not forget that discord is still planning on moving forward with age verification and has only "delayed it" until "the later half of 2026." They are hoping you will forget while they quietly roll it out when no one is looking. Continue to message them about it. Continue to talk about it. Make it clear this is unacceptable. Discord is one of the only places left you can even talk about or share adult content in private at scale anymore. They will tell you "its not that bad if you dont use it for nsfw" but fuck them and fuck people who say that shit.
A bunch of my doodles for the day because DarkCage won't leave my mind and ahem, some people aren't helping (/lh).
Warnings: Minor(?) body horror [it's a mouth], Suggestive & Explicit Content
As a reminder, this is going to be EXPLICIT CONTENT. Do NOT interact with this if you are below 18 years old and do NOT feed this into any sort of AI.
In order:
The first: A comic strip(?) about two friends getting into shenanigans that involve trying to consume a wine bottle. This is how we learn about why Wheylan doesn't want their mouth to be too damaged. Their shadow self can only keep so many parts stuck together.
The second: A lighthearted comic between DarkCage [Dukemir/Eden/Wheylan]. The trio were almost caught sneaking around the kingdom. A tense moment after, and it appears someone has a bit of a potty mouth. Can't blame them, though.
The third: A puppet stage with paper cutouts of some of the denizens in the kingdom. It appears that not even this little stage can escape a haunting narrative (disclaimer: this is based on assumptions about havocdream's characters).
Suggestive & NSFW content ahead!
The fourth: A small study/fix it of Wheylan's eyes.
The fifth: Looks like there was someone who riled the resident wheelwright up, hm.
I'm not happy with this, but I still want to post it. This is definitely getting redrawn in the future because heughhhh let me study a few more pictures of people before I try this again...
Down below is my attempt at drawing my KoM OCs as humans. Constructive criticism would be deeply appreciated.
Edit: Moved Gravelyn's face a little higher. Thank you to that person
Below the cut are some of my thoughts about their lives as humans.
Something something, Gravelyn would be called "Grace" as a human, and I think I messed up her jawline. I think she would be into the decora fashion community, but maybe not dedicate herself to joining it. And, unlike her puppet counterpart, indulge in makeup, especially the really bright colors. She would probably still work at a graveyard, but probably landscaping or administrative work instead. She would love arranging flowers for those who have passed, I think.
Something something, I really liked drawing Wheylan's face. Wheylan would be "Waylen," probably. He's still into ren faires, but would also bring decorated parasols to compliment their outfits/cosplays. They would work as a preschool teacher but specifically in a preschool that's like the other half of a church and the playground is a plastic slide that has seen better days. They would use the children's drawings as inspiration for their look, I think.
To two specific people I whisper: human soulmate AU with implications of reincarnation into humans /nf
And we're at a point where I'm dressing my character up in other character's clothing.
I imagine Wheylan is wearing this at a faire and is posing with a totally fake sword for the camera. Don't worry, fellow human, the grey skin and strange eyes are part of the cosplay.
Rather than having their hair in the braid Dukemir uses (or as I call it, the "dead anime mother hair"), Wheylan went with a petal bun, I think it's called. I didn't draw the braids well, though, ugh.
Unfortunately, Ryan could not be part of the picture because wild animals are not recommended to be around ren faires. That's probably a health hazard, though Ryan is most certainly not one.
However, I drew my lovely child with his normal eyes this time, which is to say I didn't draw them correctly for a good chunk of this month (lore on said eyes coming very soon).
Page made a comment about Vivian being the relationship counselor for DarkCage. It was very entertaining to think about.
Unfortunately, I didn't have enough energy to dedicate too much time to this animatic, but it's still here, so that's really nice.
Characters involved:
Dukemir by @havocdreams
Eden by @an0nymous-c
Vivian by @bettweenthepages
Wheylan by me
Also, I don't know where would be a better spot to discuss more about any of this, so, uh, any suggestions? I have a Discord account, if that works over the Tumblr messaging system 😅
Some doodles of Wheylan with one being just slightly suggestive, lol.
As an even bigger treat, here are some headcanons I have:
Although bubble braids are his favorite hairstyle, he'll do others if he feels they're worth the time it takes, or if he misses those hairstyles
Gravelyn gave Wheylan bonnets so he could take care of his hair again
One of Wheylan's secret wishes is to sleep in a big blanket nest
They usually don't have to wear their apron anymore, since they're not usually using doing any smithing or crafting, but when they have it on, it means he's had a burst of inspiration and must do something about it
Hearing the ticking noise from any clock freaks Wheylan out. They will immediately try to destroy it. If the sound is similar enough to a clock's ticking noise, they will do their best not to try and destroy the thing causing the noise, but there's no promise there (hence why I said they can't drive). Headphones would probably do this puppet wonders
I have a question for your lovely Wheylan about how protective he would be over a loved one? [Cough cough Dukemir, cough cough]
Dukemir has been having troubles with other nobles recently. Some of them have been so terribly mean to him. They talk behind his back about how he might be just as bad if not worse than Crownus!! This obviously isn't true, it's Dukemir. The most he will do to the other puppets is a slap on the wrist. [Metaphorically. Duke wouldn't actually put his hand on another puppet unless it was necessary]
Say if Wheylan was to over hear one of the nobles conversations about Dukemir. What would his reaction be?
Cough cough, hi Havoc, cough cough. I'm going to pretend I didn't have a draft of something akin to that in my own stuff. Since I don't plan on actually making a comic, though, here we go :).
Wheylan would feel angered. How dare these nobles keep insisting that Duke Dukemir of the Rulleington's House was anywhere NEAR as bad as Crownus.
Dukemir, in Wheylan's eyes, is well-meaning. He doesn't care for status unlike some of these ignoble asses, helping everyone without caring for himself. He loves freely, giving up time he could be using for himself, should be using for himself, to others. He has so many qualities that Wheylan wishes more people had (including themself).
However...Wheylan's fear of the noble class and literally anyone who is considered higher than a peasant still scares them. So, instead of going directly over and telling those nobles to stop spreading such abhorred rumors, they would pull out their journal and start noting down who said what. It never hurts to get more information on others, even if they won't approach the others (except maybe in a particular disguise, as seen in the comic).
And, then, of course, Wheylan is going to go find the duke. They'll summon their shadow puppets to find Dukemir. After all the information is accounted for, Wheylan will set off into whatever direction his shadows lead him. Knowing Dukemir, the other will probably try to brush it off, but not Wheylan, no. They're going to be mad, letting it boil inside of them (not literally), but stay as calm as possible for their lover.
If they find Dukemir fast enough, Wheylan will do their best to follow Dukemir around until there's a moment they can pull the other aside, spew a bunch of positive affirmations, and see if they can get a private moment together with the duke just to get him to take a break.
If they don't find Dukemir fast enough, then Wheylan is going to retreat back to their room (or Duke's, whoever is closer, really), and keep a shadow tailing Dukemir in their stead. If/When Dukemir comes back to whoever's abode they're sharing, Wheylan's going to insist on spooning the duke because they're upset and the duke is probably not going to say no, and then they'll mutter all the good things they remember Dukemir doing for the kingdom before drifting off to sleep. Precious and Soleil will actually not be summoned here before Wheylan is putting all their brainpower into getting all the compliments out before they pass out, lol.
In this particular case, Wheylan asked if Gravelyn could help him figure out a new look that wasn't his usual bubble braids. He also wanted to look pretty but didn't want to do any braids this time around. She decided that a silk pressed hairstyle would do nicely and she was very enthusiastic to help them.
She didn't tell him where she got the dress from (it was from her human friend), but after putting it on and looking at themself in the mirror, Wheylan decided to (with the encouragement of Gravelyn) go out and have a little fun day.
Donning a mask for extra security and taking the pseudonym "Trinity," Wheylan decided to explore the kingdom. Sometimes, when he wants more anonymity, he goes to Gravelyn and she helps them don this disguise on.
