Hi! I’m a digital painter, illustrator, and dad of 2 from Colorado, USA born in 1989. I mostly do portraiture, figure work, contemporary realism, and some children’s illustrations. I’m the founder and curator of Helikon Gallery & Studios (now closed) and have curated and hung over 100 art exhibits!
I like cats, Ancient Egypt, guitar, Gundam, PC gaming, reading, biking, and being perpetually miserable and grumpy.

I’ve been sick and not painting much but got back into this underdrawing a day ago. Hoping to start the painting soon! This is an observational drawing based on a photo of my daughter. Posted up a little stitch of a few process images.
It’s been really interesting studying my kid’s face this closely. It’s funny how instantly I could feel the drawing meshing with her personality when I started getting her face right. Love this little goober!

Digital painting I made of a cat named Teddy who’s crossed the rainbow bridge. Wanted to stay textural with his velvety fur. Had a lot of fun exploring the shapes and colors in this one, it’s essentially a monochromatic orange painting to stay harmonious with his eyes.
Wanted to make a texture-heavy painting in Procreate, referenced a photo of a Reddit user. Painted with the MA-Brushes 2 set.
I know it’s hella dad activities to paint gray haired musicians in concert but you’ll not stop me.

Digital painting on iPad using Procreate, with some process images. This is referenced off a photo I found on Reddit’s DrawMe community. I loved working with the silhouette of the hair and shirt.
My method is to first establish the big angles of the figure, then refine it, work in the dark and shadows, then build the light on top. I tried to preserve some rough brushwork in areas while pushing the rendering of the face.

Reddit user asked to be drawn as a Bridgerton character so I obliged! Very fun piece to draw, loved painting the bow and the braid.
Char’s Zaku I realism piece I never finished. Still pretty cool though! The entire piece is painted by hand in Adobe Fresco, including the text ✌️😗

Process video for my painting ‘Bivi.’
I used an indirect painting method for this one. The whole piece was a carefully rendered black and white painting that was the colored with the soft light blending mode at the end.

My technique is to do a loose, general sketch with a bigger brush when my main concern is shapes, proportions, features, and angles. Then I come back on a separate layer with a smaller and more accurate brush to clean up the drawing.

I always do custom illustrations for my kids’ birthdays. My daughter got into Pokémon cards when she turned 5, so I knew what I had to do and illustrated some of her favorite Pokémon. I also turned it into a coloring sheet for her and her friends!
