watching through tfa and i just finished the ratchet ptsd episode…yeah, i’m thinking now.
ratchet being captured + restrained + literally having his parts stolen by lockdown is so good. although it’s pretty light non/con body mod, i think the possibilities there are fun…
consider a ratchet who’s incredibly averse to being worked on by anyone but himself because of this. he knows he can trust others- his teammates, fellow autobots- but every time he thinks about having another mech’s servos beneath his plating, fiddling with parts of him- it makes his spark convulse.
it’s especially bad when he thinks about being unconscious for it. being unaware while others tamper with his body.
i dunno. makes me think of how much time he’s probably spent patching himself up. refusing to let another bot do it, even when the self repair process is more difficult- more painful.
imagine ratchet getting injured- badly. his limbs are mangled- one leg twisted, warped metal, one shoulder blasted half off, arm attached more by internal wiring than outside plating. he’s struggling to stay online through the pain- his optics keep flickering, threatening to power down along with the rest of him. optimus helps him escape immediate danger- “don’t worry,” he reassures, “we’ve got you, we’ll fix you right up-“
but ratchet refuses, staggering on his working leg to his repair bay, limp arm at his side. every step he takes, he has to hold back a cry of pain- only letting small grunts and hisses escape his vocalizer. optimus follows as he takes a seat and gets started on his repairs, pleading with ratchet to let him or another member of the autobots help- he’s working with one servo- and that servo, optimus can see is shaking, trembling with pain.
ratchet, of course, won’t let him. he continues his work. the more he has to repair, the more painful the injuries become, and at one point, he realizes he’s not going to be able to continue without the pain overriding his systems and sending him into recharge.
he turns to optimus, who’s been sitting with him- offering encouragement occasionally, but mostly just a comforting presence- with wide optics. “i’m going to deactivate,” he warns “prime. do not- don’t touch me while i’m out.”
the panic in his voice is apparent, and before optimus can respond, ratchet’s optics are dimming, and his vitals are flattening, and he’s no longer awake.
