Not a big fan of creating AUs, so I made a simple “the boys are different species” AU.

In case you’re curious: Raph - Saltwater crocodile: The biggest reptile on this planet, strong as ever, faster than you’d expect, smarter than you’d expect.

Donnie - Lab rat: Extremely intelligent creature, that loves living in big familial colonies, silent, flexible and very agile.

Mikey - Alexandrine parakeet: Smart enough to learn tricks, is inclined to show off its acrobat skills. Tends to live in small flocks and is playful and talkative.

Leo - Spotted hyena: Believed to be a stupid laughing creature, it’s actually pretty intelligent and one of the few creatures capable of decieving. Stronger and faster than it looks like, lives in big familial packs.

I ADORE the new ROTTMNT so damn much it hurts

But i gotta get this out there

Donnie, is amazing, my favourite character, mwah perfect

Raph, can get it, any day of the week, call me I’ll be there

Mikey, fantastic, I want to vibe with him all day everyday

Leo…. Is where I run into a problem. Idk what it is about him but it just rubs me the wrong way. It might be the narcissism, but all of them have their moments so idk. It might be that he’s put the others in so much unneeded distress, or maybe it’s his “poster boy” demeanour, or it could be his general attitude

But Leo can eat my dust as I run far away from him, straight into his brothers arms

This is so interesting honestly, because I think a lot of people (me included) love Rise!Leo exactly for the same reasons you don’t like him? Even more interesting is that Donnie is my least favourite character, so I’m really curious about what makes him your favourite? SHARE YOUR OPINION, DON’T BE AFRAID! I want to know everything!

Honestly, Leo isn’t even that different from Donnie, they both have narcissistic tendencies, and creat problems so I’m not sure.

But for Donnie, I guess I love his reluctant but very real emotions he’ll show. He makes these amazing inventions and is so proud of himself for them. They’re his babies, and he goes total fanboy when he finds people who share his interests, note the purple dragons.

And I love the sarcasm so damn much, we get some from the others, notably Leo, but for Donnie especially. Like when he’ll say something, and the others have this dumbfounded look on their face and he just facepalms and explains it simpler, PERFECTION. Like when he was explaining what a library was and they were just like (OvO)(°▽°)(・∀・) the whole time

Whenever he’s on screen it just makes me happy to see him! The “Oh papa if you surrender now here shan’t be any consequences” line made me love him just that much more. It’s hard to explain why I love a character, but I hope I did him justice lol

Aaah this is why I love reading other people’s opinion. I always took Donnie’s passion for his inventions and tech in general for granted? Never really thought of it as a reason to like him for.

Honestly it does make sense that Leo and Donnie are the ones with narcissistic tendencies being the middle child, and that Leo’s such a menace exactly because he’s not Donnie. Donnie is a genius and has a precise passion and interest, while Rise!Leo, unlike all the other Leos, isn’t special.

Obviously this is all my opinion and interpretation, but I think Rise!Leo is the classic invisible kid that just wants to be noticed and loved without taking scary responsabilities and unlike all his brothers he doesn’t really have anything “peculiar” about himself? He’s the “face man” not because it’s a talent or anything, it’s just something he WANTS and DECIDED to be because it would put him in the spotlight, while his brother would be in that same spotlight by doing their own things (Raph being strong and acting like a leader/Donnie being a genius and showing off his tech/Mikey being his adorable crazy self, with his art and cooking)
