I donāt know what to dress up as, though and um... what?
āThen, it is one,ā Jamie declared with an even bigger grin. The butterflies and speed of her heartbeat rose at the fact it was officially a date. She nodded as she heard she hadnāt been on dates with anyone else.Ā āI understand. Iām just surprised, is all, cause, yāknow, youāreā¦ā She blushed.Ā āYouāre beautiful. And funny. And smart. And really sweet. I bet lots of people asked you out before.ā It didnāt appear possible to Jamie that Cecile couldnāt have had admirers.Ā āI hope we do. Oh my gosh, Iād love to see you play ring toss,ā she giggled.Ā āIāll be a super supportive girlfriend if you do suck at it, though, and try not to tease you too badly.ā She hadnāt even realized she had dropped theĀ āgā word.Ā
āCool,ā Cecile responded with, really happy it was one. She kind of inched away from Jamieās compliments, not used to hearing something like that, but she still smiled, even if she could feel her cheeks heating up.Ā āI donāt know about all of that, but I mean guys usually just left me alone or we were friends so nothing really happened. And I never really had that many friends that are girls.ā Not out of choice, but she just always had guy friends, most of the girls that started off as her friend, stopped because they grew up liking girly things, which Cecile didnāt.Ā āGirlfriend?ā Cecile was unable to say that without a grin and couldnāt help but feel giddy at the word.Ā āWell as a good girlfriend Iād really try to win at ring toss for you.ā
Yeah? Do you think Iād look cool? I just thought I might like to uh⦠impress someone.
Yeah! I think itād look really cool. I hope it does impress them!
āWell, at BC, Iām known as a bitchy party girl, and that gets me certain benefits.ā
āSeriously? Huh, I guess it canāt be that bad if you get benefits out of it.ā
Dude, I hate those costumes. You donāt have to worry about that.Ā
Was thinking of something classy maybe. Like a 1920ā²s gangster or something. I think Iād look cool like that.
Oh, that would be really cool! You should do that. Iād wanna see it.
āThe faster you answer my questions, the faster I go away, then,ā Blake offered up as a positive to giving them answers.Ā āSo, do you consider yourself affiliated with any group around town?āĀ
āOr... or, I could just get up and leave.ā Cecile said, standing up.
I havenāt decided what to dress up as yet. All I have right now are the stripper costumes at work, but I sure as hell aināt gonna wear one of those to a party unless Iām getting paid for it.Ā
What were you thinking of doing? Iām not against us being those assholes who dress up and go trick-or-treating as adults.
If we do go trick or treating please donāt wear your stripper costumes I donāt think people will like having their children exposed to that.
I think I might just wait until its closer to halloween and just grab whateverās left cause itāll be super cheap.
Well itās not going to be me. Are you gonna go?
i donāt know, I donāt wanna die. Maybe, though. I donāt have a halloween costume yet, but if I do I guess I should.
āI said socially acceptable. Gotta maintain my reputation.ā
āWhat reputation is that?ā
Jamie couldnāt resist returning the small grin back at Cecile; she always got so giddy around her. She was relying on the fact most people didnāt glance twice at girls holding hands in school because it was assumed it was just a platonic thing. It didnāt appear that many people were even noticing them. Cecileās question had her face heat further.Ā āI think so. If you want it to be, of course. Causeā¦I want it to be. Youāre the first person Iāve had dates with, so. Have you had any before?ā She moved a bit closer after speaking, tilting her head towards the other as she spoke about what kind of dates she liked. Her face lit up at the idea. āThat sounds really fun. We totally have to go to one together. I could win you one of those stuffed animals at the games.āĀ
āI want it to be,ā Cecile confirmed with a nod and a continued grin. At the question of whether Cecile had dates, she had to hesitate before answering. Jamieās inexperience was understandable, she was young, but Cecile was already in her twenties. Shouldnāt she have already dated someone by now?Ā āUm, I havenāt,ā she muttered, dropping her head, wondering if Jamie thought it was weird.Ā āI never really, I donāt know, looked for dates, you know?ā She looked back to Jamie, hoping she understand.Ā āHopefully we have a carnival soon then. Thatād be awesome. Although, I would try to win you something too. I think Iām okay at ring toss.ā
So where are the Halloween parties at this year?
I think I heard one is going to be at this abandoned warehouse which just reeks of trouble. You know someoneās going to die there just like ever horror movie.
āWhatās the most socially acceptable way to tell a fuckboy that I know how to use a gun and will shoot him if he breathes on me again?ā
āI think you should just tell him like that. Doubt heād bother you again.ā
āI never said I was normal,ā Blake threw back with a quirk of their eyebrow at the older oneās smile at them.Ā
āIām not interrogating that much. I ponder and ask. And this is how I relax, you should try it.āĀ
āIād rather relax by not being asked a bunch of questions.ā Cecile couldnāt understand why someone like her was so curious as although she was a kid, Cecile couldnāt trust her, didnāt trust her enough to tell her much of anything outside of her name.
Jamie giggled nervously at Cecileās own nervousness.Ā āDidnāt mean to throw you off,ā she spoke apologetically.Ā āIām glad to be h-here.ā It was her turn to stutter as their fingers were twined together.Ā āIt is. Especially with the moon reflecting off the water.ā Her thumb ran across the otherās pulse.Ā āKinda romantic. I always loved those clichĆ© beach dates, especially in movies.ā She leaned a bit closer to Cecile.Ā āDo you have any favorite date ideas? Or date fantasies?āĀ
āYou didnāt,ā Cecile urged with a small grin, shifting in her seat, not wanting Jamie to feel bad for anything.Ā āIt is pretty romantic.ā Cecile couldnāt help but feel her chest tighten. There was a rush of being so close to each other in pubic, holding hands. Someone might see them and yet it just... didnāt matter at the moment. Who would notice two girls sitting off to the side? āSo... are we on a date then?ā It took all her bravery to say something like that and even then her voice wasnāt as firm as it could have been.Ā āI donāt know, I like carnival ones. Getting on rides and playing games, that kind of stuff.ā
Jamie found herself blushing as well because of being with Cecile.Ā āI just heard about it yesterday. My parents were out for the night, so I figured itād be nice to be around people,ā she explained.Ā āIām seeing now it was more than worth it to come.ā Glancing around at the darkened area except for the bonfire, she hesitantly placed her hand over the otherās.Ā
āC-cool,ā Cecile stuttered over her word, her voice raising a pitch at having Jamie unexpectedly put a hand over hers.Ā āIām glad you managed to come, Jamie.ā She moved her hand out from under hers to link their fingers together.Ā āThe beach is always nicer at night anyway. At least I think so.ā
āOh, donāt look so disappointed to see meā¦ā She flipped through her notebook, attempting to find her name. āCecile.āĀ
āNope, unless you give me a reason to ask those questions. Why ask? Got something you donāt want me knowing?ā
āThatās just weird,ā Cecile responded honestly, but still a smile graced her lips at how strange the younger girl was.
āI just donāt like to be interrogated when Iām trying to relax.ā
āTechnically. Mostly here for the people who attend these things.āĀ
Cecile let out a sigh.Ā āOf course you are.ā
āYouāre not going to ask me weird questions again are you?ā
