I was gonna post this on Saturday but turns out I fantasised that I did….

Anyways, here’s mom’s first batch of 2019 traditional baked mooncakes, starting with mixed nuts!

1) You can see the mixed fruits and nuts filling in the foreground and the dough skin in the background.

2) Roll out the skin dough and wrap the filling. Slap it into the spring mold. Slap it.

3) Carefully eject it out of the mold without squishi– that one is crooked, don’t look.

4) First round of baking.

5) Let cool. Eggwash when cool and bake again.

6) Take out of oven and admire that sexy sheen.

Mooooncakes. The boxes and flavours have gotten out of hand lmao. One benefit of going to the mooncake fair so late: having your choices naturally limited for you by everything being sold out so that you don’t have to rely as much on your own self restraint.

Of the ones I bought, the small blue snow skins are rum and raisin; the pink ones are champagne. The brown baked one is green tea with cherry bits, and the other big one is traditional teochew flaky yam mooncake.
