Although pornographic imagery clearly existed, phallic imagery was not intended for this purpose. I escaped mutilation and have had a foreskin my entire life. I came of age in the late 1950’s and in the Midwestern city where I grew up, circumcision was almost universal. Most of my frenulum was cut off. What was left of it was covered in scar tissue. For most of my life the frenulum area has been painful, not pleasurable. Fortunately, restoring my foreskin has broken up the scarring around my frenulum remnant and it is no longer painful to touch. In fact, it feels pretty good, now.
