Yesterday, a video went viral on social media showing jaguars being tortured and killed by a hunter, who, in addition to all the brutality and cruelty of the act itself, believing in impunity, shamelessly exposed his crime to the entire world.

I've been to Pantanal a few times and, during the last visit, I saw up close the efforts of people on their mission to protect these and many other animals that live in the region. I met @oncafari, a project that is so cool and allows us to see these animals up close and shows how we can interact with them in a non-violent way, sharing the same place, each one respecting their own space. I was so impressed with their work that I decided to symbolically adopt a jaguar last year.

I learned that Brazil has the greatest biodiversity on the planet, beautiful landscapes, animals that we only find here. At the same time, all of this seems to be unprotected and handed over to criminals even more over time, criminals who carry out this type of cowardly and brutal act, in the certainty that nothing will happen.

For the love I have for my country and for nature - not just in speech, because whenever I can I'm there, fighting along with those who are in this battle, learning from them and acting on it - I hope that this changes urgently and that no efforts are spared to take protective actions, not only for the animals and the environment, but also for the people and agencies involved in monitoring this problem. It's the least we expect from those who have the pen and the power to change this in their hands!
