Just once I'd like to interrupt an incident of someone being a cunt to customer service by politely asking the staff "excuse me, what's your policy on customers fighting each other?"
[turning to a security guard] Do you have the authority to remove disruptive customers from the establishment's property?

Certified Caveman-Posting, but it's only just recently occurred to me that there are more ways to eat fresh fruit than just biting into it as it is. I can make dishes with them things. Nice dishes. Yesterday I purchased two pears, something I've never done before because the only way I ever eat fruit is plain, whole, uncut and unpeeled, straight out of the bag like an unsupervised horse. But this time I had plans to make it something actually nice.
Ate the first one with some nice brie and sea salt crackers, a damn fancy properly assembled charcuterie board and everything. The way the flavours and textures complemented each other, with the salty richness of the cheese and the salty crunchiness of the crackers getting a really nice counterbalance from the juicy sweetness of the pear. Absolute height of luxury.
And today, I had the other pear left. Was planning to make the same thing today as yesterday but due to not getting the cheese-fruit-cracker ratio right, I didn't have the other ingredients anymore. So now, suddenly wanting a sweet little treat, it occurred to me that I could slice the remaining pear into really thin slices, arrange them on a plate in a pretty rosette, and sprinkle some cinnamon and vanilla sugar on top. Absolute height of luxury, again.
I have discovered the art of chopping fruit.
Why is it legal to bar people from just any random job for having a criminal record. Dude gets 1 DUI and canāt bag groceries? Canāt stock shelves or sell dog food? What the fuck bruh. If thatās even an option then why arenāt we saving that for like. Bus drivers and diamond retailers and hospice nurse. Where is the order of priority here
When I applied to nursing school in Finland, they did check for criminal record, but only checked for sexual and violent crime. They legit did not give a flying fuck if you have a previous criminal record from a history of doing stupid shit due to a substance abuse problem from untreated mental illness, for as long as it has never brought you to hurt somebody.
to be honest even if vaccines did cause autism i would rather live in a world where everyone is vaccinated and some of those people have autism than an unvaccinated autismless world. like ok whatever. would you rather have autism or polio. autism or measels. idk about yall but im choosing autism every time. its not even a hard choice.
My husband (has cancer) is a frequent customer of a local family-run pharmacy. Itās much more personal and welcoming there than at a chain pharmacy ā they recognize us and I feel very comfortable asking them questions about medications (husband currently has a lot).
Anyway this week my husbandās prior authorization for a medication was delayed and he decided he would pay the out-of-pocket cost rather than wait a couple days for medicine he needs to go to work. It was a $100 prescription so this was tough but not earth-shattering.
Anyway; the lead pharmacist noticed that he was being charged for his normally-insured medication, asked him about it, and took 50% off as a gift. He said every year at Christmas they have staff and community contribute to a fund to help people pay for medications, and whenever a usual customer is facing an unexpected charge, they can cover some of the cost.

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?
The come-down from doing a good deed is crazy. Like I think I could rescue a baby from a burning building and 30 minutes later Iād be like, āIdk was it cringe of me to run into that building like that? The baby didnāt even seem that happy to get rescued. Honestly maybe the baby started the house fire and I interrupted an important life lesson.ā
ever since i was a child ive had a headache
there's not a single nonchalant bone in my body. i care so much i could literally vomit
Your goal should be to get weirder with age and im not kidding. Become that odd estranged extended family member that owns a whacky home wherein a powerful magical item is kept that is the catalyst for the story of a children's adventure novel protagonist
before modern surgical and chemical abortion methods were pioneered, one older method of abortion was sticking a foreign object (such as bark) into the vaginal cavity and leaving it there until it caused an infection that hopefully aborted the pregnancy. this often resolute in complications such as sepsis, permanent reproductive harm and death for the individual seeking the abortion. that is why people saying things like āwell, they had abortion back then tooā on my post about historical infanticide is irritating me. they did. the abortion methods were often horrendously dangerous or ineffective. limiting abortion access only limits safe abortions.
being so staunchly anti generative ai while everyone around you is "i used chatgpt" and "i asked grok" and google search is useless and every company is implementing ai and every single celeb is taking ai money and partnering with ai is like... it's so jarring. why can't you see the harm like i can? why are you so lazy? why are we making society this stupid? can we please stop? it's killing people does that not matter to you?
I find it very offensive that the more unwell you are, the more things you have to do to maintain your health. Things like following special diets, going to medical appointments, making big and important decisions about what treatments to use. At the same time, the more unwell you are the less energy you have to do all of these extra things. It seems grossly unfair.
