The prettiest House Finch checked out the hummer station today, looking for the seed that usually is served by this camera. Oriole activity is down a bit and I haven’t seen any hummers again but today, a female Towhee was here too! I hope she returns tomorrow.
alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!
🫶
This got more traction than I imagined and has motivated me to make a more thorough survey where I can actually parse the data.
No email is necessary to input to complete the survey. Please also consider sharing this off tumblr with people in your life to get a broader sample, especially people who love history and love museums!
Please give your thoughts on Generative AI (such as Sora, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) usage in museums, archives, and other cultural heritage sit
This one resonated with me
A HAMMERHEAD????
I attended a campfire presentation by a park ranger who described Osprey as "both the pickiest and least picky eaters of all time."
They're the pickiest because they only eat things they can catch by plunging into at least six feet of water feet-first and are as close to their maximum carrying capacity as possible, to maximize calories-per-trip.
They're the Least Picky because so long as something fits those parameters, Osprey will go for it.
The ranger then showed us an extensive slide show of the local osprey in flight with their catches, which included: trout, carp, snakes, bass, eels, small sharks, ducks, surprisingly large catfish, a nerf football, muskrats, a summer sausage that fell off a boat, sneakers, a fish previously thought to be extinct in the area, a Barbie Doll, and another osprey.
fantastic
Baby corydoras adolfoi, about 0.3 inches in size.
The Java moss in my fish tank was too overgrown, so I trimmed about 30% of it, and baby fish practically poured out of there. I don't know exactly how many there are right now, but the last time I counted, there were over 50, and the average age of my Corydoras is probably around 15 years old. More than half are fish born in 2010. And their parents are still healthy. Sometimes when I tell this, my mom tells me not to lie. Fish look slightly different, so you can tell them apart. However, occasionally, when a baby who looks a lot like their mom grows to a similar size, the difficulty level increases, just like a Mii silhouette quiz with the same shape Mii.
