Teaching children, especially girls, about periods needs to be normalized. We have books like "Everybody Poops" in school libraries, which is fair, because that is a normal biological process that everyone experiences, even if it is a bit icky. Same should go for periods.

i finally told her. i’m shaky and tearing up a bit and she is angry at me, but at least it’s quiet….

(i’ve tried to explain to her that the constant noise is like being tortured, but she always just forgets or says i’m “too inconsistent”. i’m “inconsistent” because she gets angry at me if i ask her to please turn her music down so i try to just suck it up and dissociate until i physically can’t anymore and have to beg her in tears to please for the love of god wear headphones. and then the silence just sounds like resentment and she doesn’t talk to me or acknowledge my existence for days and after a while just goes back to playing the music (the exact same goddamn song at the loudest volume possible).
