Interviewer: Is there a “throughline” in [your] work?
Bowie: Yeah I think I’m old enough now to see one: the idea that I don’t have any faith in absolutes. I’m far more comfortable with what others may perceive as chaos or fragmentation. It’s a truer reality for me. The Apollonian nature is something I really have problems with. People who structure things.
Eno: Don’t rise above your station. The great English crime.
Bowie: Sexual politics are the same. There is a sort of radical-right view that you are only a heterosexual or only a gay. The idea that you actually vacillate between all forms of sexuality doesn’t seem to be in there. And I still think, am I the only fucking person that knows this? It’s like, they can’t understand why I like the Renaissance and Damien Hirst at the same time. But I get both.
me out alone on the weekend “treating myself” to cope w/my stress, realizing that no amount of consumerist self care will ever really do a damn thing about the dread, shame, and despair that ambiently characterize every second of my at once pointlessly indulgent and painfully unfulfilling late capitalist existence
i’m watching that one krautrock documentary and in the middle of it iggy pop starts drilling this….fruit.. while being interviewed

I’ve seen and done things I want to forget; coming from an unearthly place, Longing to see a woman’s face, Instead of the words that gather pace, The words that maketh murder.
