Haven’t been active in awhile… popping in to say hello! 🖤
Siouxsie Sioux Belgian Interview (1986)
Siouxsie's mannerisms are so interesting in this interview. Each word seems crafted, chosen with a degree of caution and composure.
What really stood out to me was how she responded to questions surrounding former guitarist John McGeoch's death. She didn't seem to see the humor the interviewer saw in the situation. Despite the eccentric, dark philosophy Siouxsie had been known for, she approached his death with serious reverence.
This interview reveals a common theme; interviewers lacking direct empathy for what happens in music artists' lives. To the media and general public, musicians are not normal people. They live and create a fantasy through their music.
I'm not here to claim the person behind the interview was a terrible person. We all misspeak from time to time. However, I've noticed that poorly placed comments and questions tend to crop up when the interviewee is a performer and/or a nonconformist.
Segments like these offer a glimpse into culture.
-If you want to learn more about John McGeoch, I'd suggest reading his wikipedia article. It's very thorough and summarizes his impact on the punk and goth scene. Whoever helped write/edit has an interest in music.

I found this great 80s dress in a charity shop and felt inspired to put together a gothic look, it ended up a bit Lisa Frankenstein. I've been obsessed with Mina Mazzini's makeup recently- that was my inspiration, though I think I should've done eyebrows with this particular look imo.
