the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

oh man it feels like ages since I've drawn Charlastor started this after Amir's ship raffle results, which caused a bit of commotion over on twitter. As a former Charlastor shipper I think it's cool the pairing got some love.

speaking of charlastor…what do you think is about them that give such an alluring draw?
they’re so opposite, yet the same. there’s the obvious optimist / pessimist vibes (one of my absolute fav ship tropes). alastor hides behind a smile while charlie does aswell. they’re both pretty secretive (alastor more so) but they push their emotions down for the sake of others (either to keep the positive vibes and / or to not be seen as weak) in turn pushing others away.
they could also benefit greatly from each other and we have seen it happen in season one. alastor, although manipulatively, made charlie get out of her pity and take action against her worries. he’s her motivator and we even see this when charlie says “this would be so much easier with alastor”. hopefully in season three or a later season we see alastor learn how to talk about his emotions and not run from them with the help of charlie.
