Grumbo Week 2026

Welcome to the Grumbo week 2026! This is a week centered around the ship between Grian and Mumbo Jumbo. Taking place April 13th - April 19th.

Guidelines:

No one is required to participate everyday, your free to do as many or as little as you want/are able to.

Each day has 2 different prompts, you can use just one or both! It's meant more as to give people options, but no one is by any means required to do both. The only exception to this is the last day, as it's a free day.

All kinds of fanworks are welcome! Almost anything is welcome as long as Grumbo is the focus! The only exception is:

No GenAI!!! We are all for supporting creativity but using a tool that kills creativity, and steals other peoples creations is something that we will not tolerate.

On a different note, you don't need to submit your best work! I don't know who needs to hear this, but making something is better than making nothing!

I will be reblogging all post tagged with #Grumbo week 2026 If you would not like for your creations to be reblogged, than let me know or better yet let me know in the tags of your post. Please also tag what ever day you are submitting for (ex: #day one, #day two, #day three, so on.)

If for some reason the Hermitcraft Charity event ends up being scheduled to be during the week we have planned, than we will most likely reschedule out of respect.

i think grian interpretations where he wasn’t born with his wings but instead gained them at some point in his life should be horrible at preening. doesn’t even know the concept of it. so when they start getting itchy and unkempt, he gets grouchy. with other hermits but also with his wings which results at him tugging at them in his frustration.

the hermits help teach him though. pearl first because pearl learns avian knowledge for him, then maybe the others.

Is part of the reason hunger au grian is so resistant to tell people things that he is scared they'll blame him for killing the original grian?

There are a lot of reasons, although that is one of them!!! He already fully blames himself for that, and reasonably expects it from Pearl and Mumbo-- the others, however, never knew the original Grian, so thats less of a concern in his mind. Mostly, he's just scared of absolution. Hunger!Grian hates himself, and he doesnt want to be saved right now, so the rescue squad coming together to try and save him is something that scares him so deeply to his core that its easier to clam up and maintain his sense of control so he doesnt just completely fall apart about it. Also, he doesn't feel he deserves that help; theres a lot going on in his brain thats making him so resistant to giving out vital information. Id say at its core, its mostly about shame :(

hotguy x murderer grian. listen to me. not “big bad villain grian”, no. i mean, hotguy with a crush on this civilian he saved one day. initially grian is hesitant to respond (he met hotguy first, then the man under the mask)- but quickly realizes that murderers aren’t actually superhero work. hotguy doesn't know anything about a murderer. unless there’s property destruction or a public disturbance, criminals like grian are boring old cop work. they get into the sweetest most normal relationship ever.

Wing preening, Uncanny Life Series Worldbuilding, Memory Mistrust and Alteration, Limited Life SMP Setting

Grian scoffs, "Yeah, cause we have all the reason in the world to trust you." Grian's body trusts him — his mind doesn't, has no reason to see him as anything but a dangerous foe, one that has killed him multiple times at this point, but his heart rate calms at his presence, his fight or flight dulls to a whisper, his hypervigilance focuses in on an us. Protect us, it screams out, no care in the world for protecting him from Scar. Scar trots further into the room, "Exactly! I've done so much for you guys, I even kept you safe during your whole sleepy episode." "Right, and you did such a good job at that. Remind me, how many times did you blow me up? Two? Three? I wasn't exactly around to keep count." "Sure, sure, I didn't say there weren't… imperfections. A little TNT here and there may have gotten misplaced along the way. But my goals were as noble as can be."

Hello desert duo enjoyers I wrote something you might like! 👋 It's about learning how to be a person again after serious trauma.

"Red in Tooth and Red in Claw" takes place after Wild Life in an AU where the Watchers have been defeated and Grian has been demoted back to a human. The Listeners have brought everyone to a new world for reasons they refuse to explain, and now Grian has to cope with the loss of his powers and knowing he's betrayed all his friends. Meanwhile, Scar decides he's going to be Grian's neighbor, despite... everything. Why won't he just leave Grian alone?

There's angst, humor, gratuitous hurt/comfort, a hopeful ending, and eldritch madness as a metaphor for addiction. I'd appreciate you giving it a shot! <3

knight mumbo to prince grian/princess griande. and you think— that man is too clumsy to be a knight! and you’d be right. he dies. but he was suppose to. grian(de) knew he was going to even, because the watcher’s foresaw this and was told not to interfere, this was part of the plan.

they resurrect him. it is the first time but it will not be the last time.

he finds comfort in knowing he can be as reckless as he needs to be to get the kill because he will come back; this way, he can truly protect the prince(ss)!! the watcher’s are happy to have someone so willing to be an experiment, gosh grian(de), why aren’t you as devoted to your kingdom as your knight is? and grian(de) is just haunted by always being there, witnessing the man they are in love with killing himself to protect them. <3

thought about this au again.

grian running away from the watchers happens in every timeline. doesn’t matter how they treat him, doesn’t matter if they’re worse or better than another version— he will always find a reason to go.

this world is no different. griande will run away.

but would mumbo?

if ever approached by the watchers, would he give up the power they bestow upon him? mumbo, who tried blowing up the moon to save his friends, would undoubtedly struggle to see reason. how could he just give up the opportunity to protect the people he loves?

i think griande would approach him, cautious because recently, there’s a touch of reverence in the way mumbo speaks about the watchers. she just— subtly suggests what would he think of leaving. and he questions it. why? why would they ever leave? she’s safe here, he can protect her forever with their help— why, why, why— be serious, princess.

and it’s heartbreaking. she feels sick. because this doesn’t change her plans. it just means she can’t take mumbo with her when she goes.
