hi there :) I like sky cotl a normal amount. blog for dumping screenshots / stories/ ectra so I dont flood my other socials.... they/any, im 22 :) started playing dec29th 2021, Flight Moth!!
hi!! Im CF, I play sky daily and post photos often! Im 22 years old! My favourite spirits are the cackling canoneer and the forgetful storyteller, + I wait every day for their returns, not bc I want more of their cosmetics but bc I miss them and want to take pictures of them and my kid.
I participate in candle runs on the discord fairly frequently, but I'm honestly more of a solitary player because I meander around a lot ! I also lead eden runs sometimes, DM me anywhere if you need a cab! here I'm going to post pictures from in game and rambles about the lore/my headcanons + ocs and whatnot, basically I made this blog so I wouldn't spam my main too too bad !!!
"Solitary player" aside, If you'd like to be friends; YES ABSOLUTELY, as long as you're an adult and especially if you're queer, into the deeper lore of Sky, or like taking fashion pictures !!!!! Please dm me!!
Someone I follow reblogged post about your sky kid snoring,, did you also know that you can subtly hear a heartbeat when you are holding a friend’s hand? It’s super cool how many small audio details there are in game
disclaimer; sky's lore is all very wishy washy and this is just my current interpretation! anyone is welcome to disagree, take what they like and leave what they don't ect. This post contains HELLA spoilers for Sky: Children of the Light, and a Tale of Two Embers: part one, probably.
In short: Naturally Empty Vessels to carry light to a damaged god, and the projection of said light
In long: (WARNING: WORDY , RAMBLY POST AHEAD!)
What a skykid really is comes down to the light they hold, and more specifically the lack thereof. Upon the Shattering Event, the natural cycle of the Sky World was damaged- prior to that, a creature would live it's natural life and then, via Eden, travel to the Light, then ascend to join their natural light with the Megabird.
Not getting too into all that right now, I'm doing as little as possible here, but after the fall of the ancestor society (and likely slightly beforehand as well) Megabird was becoming stretched thin due to the excessive overuse (and capture) of light on the surface, and it's inability to return and refresh her power.
As Nature Does, She Adapted.
With little left of her strength, it created a new species with none of it's own natural light, but an EXTREME capacity to CONTAIN it. To put it in a word; a vessel.
A skykid, naturally. Hollow, odd, small creatures that roughly resemble the kindest among the ancestor's civilization, the children. I don't think Skids are actually Children, I don't even think Skids age. They're not alive enough for that. They're certainly not the same species as their ancestors. They are, in more than one way, holy creatures. I think they're made of wax, personally, though I've no good reason for that one.
(I do think that the REASON they resemble children is because of the Steward and their efforts. Something they did was literally cosmic. IDK what. Two embers p2 you cant come soon enough.)
They are spit from the sky when Megabird has the energy to do so, and sent on the same quest the ancestor species failed in; experience the world with your light, and then bring the light back home.
Unlike the ancestors, though, Skids have no natural light of their own. What they do have is the light children from around the map- I don't care to theorize on what those are right now, a pretty popular headcanon is that they're splinters of the dead ruler, but I don't know about that personally. I still need to think on that more.
Skids also have the ability to connect with the past. Some ancestor's spirits linger in the world, and they still have their natural light; Skykids not only collect their light to strengthen themselves, and guide it back to Megabird, they can collect their appearances too.
A Skykid's natural appearance is what you see when you're in orbit; a dark coloured humanoid with no distinguishing features. When a skid has light, they are able to maintain a projection of clothes, of masks, of eyes and hair and whatever else, and it is natural to them, but it is not truly what they look like. These features are learned, not created individually- much like a skid's emotions- from the ancestors. In my opinion, the way to tell a Skid's age is how developed their personality is. A young skid would be odd and non-communicative , appearing as a typical moth. They grow, become more able and willing to make connections in the world, ad collect more light with which to sustain more and more complex clothing illusions.
I have another, much shorter post about Skids Here! Please enjoy :) I love discussing lore, if anyone has any additions or questions abt my interpretation please feel welcome to DM me or leave a comment on the post or reblog or whathaveyou.
But politics still exist here. You know why? I just texted my very good friend to see if he wanted to run eden with me and he doesn't know if he'll be able to come, because there are bombs falling every hour and he's scared for his life. This is a sky blog but real life still effects sky.
FUCK you if you support genocide, what Israel has been doing with the US's aid. FUCK you if you support colonialism. FUCK you if you feel like ANY country has a right to start meaningless money wars. I don't want you here in my safe space. You don't DESERVE a safe space.
We need peace goddammit. I'm so tired, and I'm as safe as a queer USian gets. I can't imagine that exhaustion that comes from being that unsafe.
I found someone in instagram mentioned about how Lightmending pendent will glow when near lit players/friends and will glow brighter when doing friendship emote
Thinking about the post I saw abt Skykids just being odd, strange husks that mimic and mimic and mimic a civilization that doesn't exist anymore, yet one they're so close to, close enough to ALMOST touch, close enough to DIRECTLY learn from, one which they only know the ruins of, the mistakes, the dregs of what was.
Definitely incorporating that into my personal headcanon. That's so right to me.
To add; The more that a skykid learns from the ancestor spirits, the more they become capable of not only expression, but the genuine feelings that would inspire such. When a Moth lands from the sky they are odd, completely empty, confused creatures with only an inset desire to learn, and an instinct that guides them towards generosity.
