They still haven’t figured that out yet? My parents were the one to tell me about that and that was ages ago.” He finishes off the M&M’s and pops open a bag of Twizzlers and starts munching on one of those. “Death my M&M’s…there’s worse ways to die I suppose. You know, like second hand smoke. Or…” Scott snaps his fingers. 

“They only look for the new fancy technological ways to cheat, they don’t care about the old ones. They think we have evolved passed that. Jokes on them really.” Peter ate a few of the M&Ms, and Scott was right, somehow they did taste better. “I think it would be a nice peaceful way to go really.” He looked down at the ground and shuffled his feet. “It was really an awful way to die.” He was back, but he couldn’t forget the feeling of turning into dust, and the end just happening.

Valkyrie wandered down the street slowly, trying and failing to get her bearings. One minute, she’d just arrived back on Midgard with the remainder of her people, the next, she was on a random street corner in a place she was fairly certain was still Earth – though it was just different enough to make her extremely uneasy. “I don’t understand what any of those words mean,” She replied, only noticing the boy when he spoke, “Or know where you can find them.”

“Oh! They’re clothing items that were popular back in the 1990′s on Earth. They are all super bright in colour for whatever reason.” The woman looked like a human to him, but then again the aliens were getting crafty these days. “You can find them in pretty much any store that sells clothing. But I’m going to guess you aren’t from around here then?” The question was vague enough that if the woman was actually some kind of amish person she wouldn’t be offended, but could reveal her status to Peter.

“No,” Ellie said, looking up from where she’d been futilely trying to get any of her coms to connect.  Whatever the fuck this was, it was making it hard to reach the Mansion, and that meant she’d probably have to walk.  Since there would be no calling for the jet in her future.  Time travel was a bit of a bitch, but at least it was kind of par for the course for the X-Men.  But the lack of working anything was putting a damper on everything.  "You don’t think we have better things to worry about?  Big asshole comet?  End of the world shit?“

“Uh, yes?” Peter was going to get his outfit, no one was going to stop him. He wanted to enjoy his time in the 90s. Until he figured out some way to actually get time travel going, now was his only chance to enjoy it. He was sure once he figured out the whole time travel thing it would be way less exciting, but for not, he was thrilled. “I mean comets happen all the time, that’s space. Sure, this seems to have wiped out communication, but that could easily be due to some metal we don’t know in the rock. This is far from end of the world shit really. Just a normal tuesday.”

Peter Quill lived through the nineties, but wasn’t actually part of the 90s as a kid. He looked around, the music was pretty good. Nirvana? It sounded pretty cool. He bobbed his head to the music. “What?” He asked, his eyes focusing on a kid talking a lot about stuff. “Yeah!” He said trying to look cool, but not knowing at all what the young man was trying to say.

“Sweet, so you’re on board then? We can get you an outfit too, not the same as mine of course, but something else cool. Maybe some acid washed overalls and some band tee underneath? Definitely a bucket hat though, you’re not getting out of that one though.” Peter was going to have his shitty 90s movie moment, and no one was going to stop him.

“all of those sound horrendous.” loki raised a skeptical brow towards the boy, hands on his hips as he glanced at the area around them and then back at the other. “the fanny pack certainly is, at least. and parachute pants, though i cannot say i know what they look like, sound terrible. this is just making me question midgard and it’s people’s sense of so-called fashion.” he shook his head. “do you not think we have more pressing matters than what you wear?”

“The fanny pack isn’t about the look, it’s the all about the function. Easy access to more storage. Parachute pants just come in fun colours, who wouldn’t want to wear them.” Peter never thought he would be arguing over 90s clothing with a norse god, but then again his life had been really weird recently. “Nah, there are people far smarter than me working on it I’m sure. Plus, these things usually sort themselves out eventually.”

“Right on bro. Also we got to get you a pager. That was like on the big things in the nineties. Everyone in highschool had one, and we’d all be beeping in the middle of class. Didn’t help much with cheating though, guess the tech is better in the future for that.” Scott shrugs his shoulders before holding out his bag of M&M’s. “Want any? For some reason they taste better here than back in 2019, it’s kind of weird.”

“Oh a pager? I can feel like a real doctor now. Nah cheating is still hard, the teachers adapt with the times mostly. They still haven’t figured out the fake label on the water bottle trick.” Not that Peter would ever be caught cheating. May would yell at him for that, and he didn’t want to risk it. He took a handful of the M&Ms. “Probably some unhealthy food dye that’s illegal in 2019. As long as it doesn’t kill us I’m sure we’re fine to eat them for a little bit.”

Figuring out when she was had been easy. Choker necklaces, snap bracelets, and the Backstreet Boy concert posters had told her pretty much instantly. She however was still having a hard time grasping time travel was a real thing. Of course she could bend reality to her whim so who was she to judge real and not real things. She was not enjoying herself nearly as much as the boy next to her was. He actually seemed excited to be in the 90′s. Of course being born in the late 1990s Wanda hadn’t really had the nostalgia for the time period that others had. “None of that sounds fun to me.” she admitted, a bit gruffly. “At least its not the 80s though. I don’t think I could do the big hair and neon tights.”

“How does that not sound fun? We can do one of those awful movie montages of all the outfits. It would be great team bounding!” Peter wasn’t really an Avenger, but he should at least be on friendly terms with all of them. You never knew when you would need backup. Wanda was far more powerful than the rest, he would probably call her first. “Oh the 80′s. You’re right there though. I doubt we would have lasted long there, probably would have gone insane with all the jazzercise videos. But hey, we traveled in time, that’s pretty cool.” He always thought it was possible, but he didn’t think it would happen for seemingly magical reasons. He was expecting more science, and maybe a time traveling car, but mostly more science.

stephen was in existential horror for the most part, he’d lived through the nineties and had sincerely hoped he’d never have to see it again. and now, here he was, smack dab in the middle of it and with a child who had never seen the era, let alone experienced its issues with good fashion choices. when peter spoke up, the sorcerer craned his neck towards him with a raised brow. “i hope you only plan to use it as a clever disguise to distract some sort of villain while the rest of us get away.” he stated before sighing and pointing towards one of the strip malls. “try there.”

peter did not understand why everyone seemed so upset at the thought of the 90′s. whenever he talked to people about it, they seemed to love it, and make fun of you if you weren’t apart of it. maybe that was just the younger generation. “no, i want to blend in. seems silly to walk around in modern clothing, as if it was normal. i don’t want to have that conversation, do you?” he gave dr. strange a pointed look. “come on, we can get your a nice new outfit too, you really stand out here.” peter started walking towards the strip mall.

Peter wasn’t a child of the 90′s but he was going to fully enjoy the chance the experience it. If he had known turning into a pile of dust would lead to getting to finally be a 90s kid, he might have done it sooner. “I’m going to need some parachute pants, a fanny pack, and one of those fun coloured rain jackets stat!” He looked to the nearest person, hoping they could point him towards a good clothing store. Thank god he had some cash stored on him.
