I wouldn't know how to do a Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sale if it bit me on the bum, but luckily Redbubble are doing one on my behalf!
So if for some reason you've been holding off getting your "My Job is just..." Secret Santa purchases, now's the time! https://lnkd.in/eXDKv5K7
It’s never too late to show some pride, and here’s our Tekno flying the flag with their besties, doing just that!
Grab a sticker for yourself at my store! Tekno Pride Sticker
Proud to see The DC Book of Pride out on the shelves this month! Even just 5 years ago, I couldn't have imagined getting to create a book like this, so it's wonderful to have played a role in project managing, art directing and picture researching this fabulous title! Hope you'll get a chance to thumb through a copy soon and learn all about this colourful collection of DC comics characters!
Thowback to 2012 when I still had notions of having my own vaguely allegorical comic series! The url doesn’t work anymore (maybe I’ll get round to fixing that sometime…?) but the message still rings true - DO. THE. THING.
Be More Snoopy cover and spread design
Oh right - I forgot about this! Well, there’s been one or two other things going on right? But I was working on this at the start of the year before everything tilted a little off the axis, so it’s thrilling to share it with you at long last!
It’s out now in... well, wherever people go to get hold of books these days I guess - good grief!
Anyhow, it certainly provided me with some joy during the early days of lockdown and I hope it puts a smile on your face too!
Concept designs by Miles Teves for BATMAN AND ROBIN (1997).
Joel Schumacher had been on my mind this week even before the news of his passing, and his contributions to the Bat discourse - wherever you land on the bat-nipple spectrum, his work on the franchise is an endless source of facination for me and I personally don’t begrudge his interpretations of the mythos - to that end, in celebration, here’s some B&R concept art that crossed my dash and caught my eye - Poison Ivy’s LEWKS could fill a whole post alone! :D
Just so we don’t escape the usual nerdy inspiration this space is more commonly known for... how cool would this be as a modern reinterpretation of the TNG Geordi La Forge Visor design!

If you need a starting point or want to further educate yourself on the black community’s relationship with the police/law enforcement I HIGHLY recommend watching the documentary “13th” on Netflix. It is life changing and eye opening.
For the people who don't have Netflix, they put the documentary online for free.
It is a must watch.
Look, I can’t pretend this is the feel good comedy of the summer, but as a starting point for the “dear white people...” crowd, this is important stuff in terms of understanding the wider context of all this and the “systemic” part of the problem...
some uk petitions to sign you may not have seen:
suspend uk export of tear gas, rubber bullets and riot shields to usa
justice for belly mujinga
battle racism by updating reading lists at gcse
make white privilege and systemic racism a compulsory part of the british education course
uk parliament condemn the violence against peaceful blm protesters by the us police/military
more protection for black trans women uk
uk government must condemn trump's response to george floyd's murder #speakupboris
investigate the death of sheku bayou in police custody
Been a little overwhelmed by all the several many great resource posts I’ve been seeing over the last couple of days, there’s a lot of great stuff to dig through! This list of UK focused petitions felt like a slightly more manageable first step for me personally, and I hope you’ll take a look at these too when you can.
happy pride everybody!!
It’s been a funny ‘ol pride already, and if you’d told me at the start of the year this would be how I’d be marking the occasion I’m not sure I’d have believed you... but the fact is that it’s all interconnected and newsflash: you can be in support of both things at the same time! Radical, I know!
Stan’s Soapbox from Marvel’s Bullpen Bulletins (1968)
Look, if Stan could say this over 50 years ago and it still be just as relevant today, what does that tell you about how far we still have to go...?
We cannot have “infinite diversity” with out Black Lives
One of the corner stones of the philosophy behind Star Trek is that of the IDIC, Infinite diversity in infinite combinations, but I believe that as fans and admirers of this mindset we will not be able to achieve this ideal without first addressing the pressing issues of racism and prejudice throughout our planet. Hence this depiction I’ve created: the IDIC cannot be complete until the fight for the rights and equality for those being oppressed is successful.
Black lives matter, it’s only logical.
In case you nerds missed the memo...
HELL. YES.
John Boyega’s speech at Hyde Park London today, June 3 2020
I can’t pretend this is comfortable viewing, but the very least I can do is make you aware of John’s words. He’s using his platform to do help this Resistance (see what I did there?), and I hope it inspires you to do what you can too...
I put together lots of UK resources in one post. You can also find them on my Twitter and Instagram @/lanamlouise. Please DO repost them, RT them, save and share them, put them on your stories, hell print them out, do whatever. More information, more action. No justice, no peace.
Boosting this for the UK allies - while some of the epicentre of this feels far away from our day to day lives, it really isn’t - and hopefully some of these resources can help to provide some more tangible actions if you are feeling unable to help on the front lines. Because unfortunately this is not an exclusive problem to just over there.
