It also symbolizes that they supposedly know a lot about Suo since hes their friend, but while they’re expecting to see a whole ‘house’ (suo’s internals, his thoughts, feelings), its an empty lot. A perfect rug pull. Okay im going insane

So I've been thinking about this for a while, but there's several moments throughout the Windbreaker series where Sakura looks like he wants to cry but no tears come out and he's clearly holding back from doing it.

The fact that he also does this in private indicates that he doesn't do this out of embarrassment, but from habit.

It's likely that his caretakers berated him or even beat him whenever he cried and now he's been Pavlov'd into holding back his tears even in safe spaces. And if I had to live with this revelation so do you.

implied/canon info about wind breaker characters that people don't talk about enough:

- sakura doesn't argue back when he's seriously arguing with someone he genuinely cares about. he just limply accepts whatever is thrown at him. (manga)

- umemiya considers everyone in the town family and protects them so much because he doesn't want to lose more family, as he did in his childhood. (manga)

- sugishita despises fighting unless it's for umemiya. he really just wants to live a quiet life with his grandparents and not have to constantly get involved. (manga)

- sakura only recently discovered that he liked omelette rice, implying that sakura didn't even know what he liked before coming to makochi. (manga volume 1 omake)
