Actually really loved writing these!

- Chad was born with really curly hair. One day in first grade when he goes to school everybody makes fun of how his hair is so curly while everyone else is straight. Cinderella told him it was okay to stand out, but when he realized he was the only one who stood out he wanted to change.

- He runs home and cries in his room quiet enough so his parents can’t hear. He looks in the mirror and sees his tear stained face and slams the mirror.

- he asks Fairy Godmother for straight hair.

- he goes back to school and nobody ever bugs him about his curly hair.

- he has a couple of friends but not a lot which really bothers him. One day a girl tells him “you’re not like most guys” as a compliment but he gets confused and starts to panic. He doesn’t want to stand out. Because standing out means you’re alone.

- so this time he changes his personality. He acts mean, vain, angry, and selfish instead of being the nice, gentle, honest guy he was

- his popularity boosts. He doesn’t understand, but he believes it was a blessing in disguise.

- it’s hard for him to act as a cocky jerk. He just wants to be like everyone else. He wants everyone to like him.

- so he sighs and thinks ‘I’ll find a way to fix myself. I’ll erase the curly haired kind boy that everyone thought they knew.’

- high school arrives and he can’t take it anymore. He arrives home and rushes to his closet. He throws his clothes on the floor in anger. He doesn’t want to pretend

- he feels he’ll loose everything he has if he acts himself. So he closes his eyes and his heart breaks in his chest.

- ‘it’s the only way you’ll ever be accepted’ his demons tell him. Chad believes them.

some thoughts on why chad charming deserves appreciation (and why he and jay would be ideal)

• even before the vks came to auradon, chad dealt with a lot of SHIT. and by shit i mean: he fucking has lived in ben’s shadow FOREVER. he would always be the lesser prince in comparison with ben and he had to live with that.

• he knew ben would be king one day, and he knew he would never be good enough

• so , naturally he joins sports right. CHAD IS AN ALL-STAR PLAYER. he is the best athlete in the school, but even then, even with those accomplishments, he was still lacking in comparison to ben. and mans put EVERYTHING into sports, it was the one (1) thing he was good at (because we know he’s a bit empty in the … brain department).

• but ever since jay came…. he was the new star athlete. jay took away the only thing chad ever had. can u??? believe that???

• so obviously he was feeling incompetent and foolish and that leads you to do some Stupid shit.

• but to continue on w/ that… imagine living in ben’s shadow for years, and then suddenly having the girl that loved him love you.

• audrey was HEAD OVER HEELS in love with ben, and then suddenly she wanted chad? i dont think he’s smart enough to realize he was a rebound but in his mind, IN HIS MIND, she made him feel wanted, worthy. as if he was worth as much as ben. that’s why he missed her so much, that’s why he wanted her back. he loves her because he loves being around her because she makes him feel good ,,, and i?? i can’t believe it!!

• and not to mention… chad looks to jay as his only friend. i saw somewhere that in one of the canon books chad was “clingy” around carlos and jay ever since audrey left him. like? he has no one else…..

• and the FACT that he snuck into carlos and jay’s room djdjdkkdlsk he trusts them even if they dont feel the same way,

• and like!!!1!!! when chad was crying about audrey he went into jay’s arms . Also.

• okay . and…. listen if chad thinks he’s better than jay at sports, he wouldn’t need help getting to practice right? he’s alright on his own, he doesn’t need help. but jay went to FETCH HIM. like how cute is that djdkdklsjks

• and also when chad was being an asshole and tried to get lonnie not to join the team jay kind of buckled and listened to chad really quickly, like who tf ???? would listen to chad????? u know…. and obviously chad was OWNED and he deserved it but like ? come on jay

• ANYWAYS chad and jay are gay and chad has grown up with no close friends who gave an actual fuck about him

• because when audrey called him he asked “who would be calling me?” like???? you’d think chad was a popular jock, right? WRONG. he has no friends he couldnt even conceptualize someone ringing him up casually.

• he really thinks no one cares so why would he try to be better? he has no true friends that tell him HONESTLY what he’s doing wrong and how he needs to change. nobody cares enough!!!!!!! and yet, ben went and invited VILLAINS from the evil island and helped them to be better BUT NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT CHAD!

• he needs jay to be there for him and talk to him and make him want to be better. he needs that inspiration….. he really is such a great guy, he just doesn’t know it yet.. i love chad charming
