An Apple A Day {Kira & Chad}

Breezing into the treatment room Chad arrived, clipboard in hand. He had enough time to mull over the information, as well as the results on the chart that the nurses had presented. Chad could see why they transferred the case to him. It was always difficult in relating to a parent that the immediate cause of their child’s discomfort was not clear with the initial tests. Now it was his task to assure the mother that they were diligently searching for a solution, and to gain her compliance with proceeding to conduct more tests to unearth a proper diagnosis. Letting the pages fall back into place, he raised his head to address the patient and mother.
“Hello, I’m Dr. Davidson.” He beamed. There wasn’t a problem in the world that could make it falter. “First off Miss Grayson, I must apologize for the delay in getting back to you.” He directed to Kira, then turned his attention to Grace as he neared the pair. “This must be Grace,” he grinned at the toddler. Taking up one of the stuffed animals the room was stocked with he made it dance before her, accompanied by his own version of a nursery rhyme, hoping to at least lift the child’s spirit.

For a few moments, Kelly just kissed him. When he deepened the kiss she allowed him access eagerly while her hand rested on the back of his neck. These moment’s made her happy. For so long she thought she wouldn’t be but then Chad came into her life and reminded her there was so much left for her to do. They kissed for a time before Kelly started to feel funny. Her tongue felt thick and her lips felt itchy. Pulling back she broke the kiss and sucked in a deep breath. She awkwardly moved her tongue around in her mouth before the realization hit her. Her lips were red and her tongue was thick. Her whole face felt itchy. She was having a hard time breathing. “E-Epipen,” Kelly gasped out as she pointed towards her purse. It had been years since Kelly had a reaction and the fact that it was happening now just made her head spin. He had to have eaten shellfish. That was the only explanation.
At first he was confused as to what was happening. One minute their lips were locked and the next, all hell seemingly broke loose. Alarmed, Chad’s gaze gauged all the visual cues being tossed his way. He took note of her laboured breaths, and the way her face began changing for the worse. Allergic reaction? To what? His brow furrowed as his suspicion was confirmed by her request. Springing into action Chad headed for the purse, he rummaged through it hastily disrupting everything inside as he emptied the contents onto the armchair. Finding the epipen, Chad brought it back over to the sofa. Clutching the injector in one hand, his other hand skimmed over her outer thigh, right before he sharply brought the epipen down, and let the auto-injector do the rest. Chad held the injector into place for a couple more seconds before removing, and setting it down onto the coffee-table. “I’m so sorry,” he apologised automatically, not knowing what role he played in her reaction. But none the less he knew that it started after they started kissing. “How do you feel? Any better?” He inquired, concern etching his features. They would definitely have to get to the hospital, just as a precaution, epinephrine usually wears off after 10 or 20 minutes.

“I am proud of you,” she laughed before he started pressing kisses to her cheek and jaw. She smiled brightly at him and shrugged without saying anything else. Kelly cared so much about him. He was a fantastic doctor and always put his patients first. She loved that about him. However, the focus couldn’t remain on those things for very long.
Still chuckling, Kelly smiled and playfully shook her head. “You know exactly who I am,” Kelly replied cheerfully before she cupped his cheek in her hand. “I’m your girlfriend that you’re oh so lucky to have,” Kelly teased. “What would you do without me?” she asked before she leaned in to kiss him. These were the moments they could laugh about and that was what made their relationship so great. Maybe, just maybe, they had a shot at really working out.
Chuckling, he leaned into the hand that cupped the side of his face. Chad couldn’t disagree with her there, and frankly he didn’t want to. There was also the factor where he could never tire of hearing her say those words. “I’d be so lost.” Chad replied before she kissed him. He smiled into the gesture, titling his head as their lips glided across the other. The tip of his tongue darted out, brushing along her bottom lip, seeking entrance to deepen the connection. Chad’s arms found purpose, leading his hands to rest on either side of her waist. One on the left, the other on the right, his fingers gently curling into the fabric of her top.

“It’s ridiculous but cunningly smart. You have to give credit where credit is due. Hopefully, as society progresses, it’ll change, though.”
“It just makes you aware of how much we’re being manipulated without realizing this. I think this is how conspiracy theorists are born.”

“Two nights? Two nights ago.”
“Wow, that’s great! Where are planning to go for your honeymoon?”

She shook her head and laughed. “Half the time the kids don’t think we’re any fun anyway. You try using Hello Kitty to distract a six year old boy. It doesn’t work very well.” She thought of her nephew then and smiled. Maybe she should invest in some superhero scrubs to please the boys now and then. “You’re one of the funnest doctors the kids can have anyway. You make things fun and less scary. The way you dress doesn’t matter.”
Rolling her eyes at her boyfriend’s comments, Kelly patted his knee. “Well,” she said, “if that’s the case then maybe you don’t have to sleep with me at all tonight. I’m sure you’d much prefer to be out here with a snuggly kitten than in bed with your girlfriend.” She was teasing him, but it was hard to resist that temptation. After all, not many guys would be willing to risk a night with their girlfriend because of a cat.
“Awww, you sound so proud of me.” Chad cooed, a lopsided grin on his face. “Mwah!” Leaning in he pressed obnoxious kisses to cheek, then along her jawline, travelling down the arch of her neck. As he progressed however, the jovial nature of the kisses changed. “Thank you for saying that,” he murmured, pulling his head back.
An exaggerated gasp slipped from his lips at his punishment. “Ouch, I can’t believe you’re putting me in the cat house-- and over that little statement. The audacity!” Chad tried his best to keep the smile off his lips as he continued on his charade of devastation. “It’s like I don’t even know you at all,” his brow knitted with faux confusion. “Who are you?”
