Princess Elia Martell's life in Drangonstone after marrying the crown Prince Rhaegar Targaryen

Stay winning, boys.
Rhaenyra Targaryen: Exists Harwin Strong: 🥰
“In Dorne, she walked among vipers and none would bite her.”
Elia Martell~
I’ve been wanting to draw Rhaenys and Aegon concepts for a while now~
Rhaegar- I dont think I’ve ever drawn an close-up of him, but I basically updated his look based on previous art I’ve made of him.
Elia- Looks pretty much like all of the fanarts I’ve made of her, after her marriage I think she’d still like to wear her house colours, mixed in with a bit of Targaryen colours.
Rhaenys- Looks a lot like Elia with a bit of her dad’s features and a hint of purple eyes. She pretty much styles herself after Rhaegar.
Aegon- His whole concept is basically he has very Targaryen features, but one look at him and you’ll know who his mom is.
Also, don’t repost this please.
Show Rhaegar is an Asshole
Actually book rhaegar too but Show Rhaegar is waaaaaaay worse.
He literally annulet his marriage IN SECRET, without Elia's consent making his children bastards and when he was back in kinglanding he didn't say nothing so he could use Dorne's army.
Literally show Rhaegar caused the death of thousand of people because he couldn't control his dick.
Right
And in top of that the trash wig they've had him wearing 🤣🤣🤣
Young Griff a.k.a. Aegon is legit
People who believe that Aegon is fake mostly ignore the fact that Golden Company is ready to support Viserys and Daenerys too. They often forget that it's Aegon himself who manage to win their favour after he has spoken his plan to sail West rather than meet Dany like Illyrio's original plan. Bolding the fact that Aegon has the skill to persuade people that will come handy later in his ruler and that's impressive as getting GC's favour is hard to gain.
Gaining Ilyrio's doesn't mean he is a fake one, it's not unsual for an adoptive father comes to love his adoptive children, I mean it's in their human nature to feel attach to one another.
The mummer's dragon and the Sun's son can also refer to the same person, as Aegon is Varys's dragon and Elia's son. A cloth dragon in the midst of cheering crowds can also refer to anything it can be about Aegon brought back the Targaryen banners after he gains Westeros. Prophecies are not a certain thing it can be a red herring or as a plot device why would Dany later see him as a pretender, because often the Targaryen misinterpret their own vision that end up dooming.
Aegon not comes out of nowhere, GRRM is already telling about his importance when Dany see him in House of the Undying in the first book and Dany first chapter, hinting about the dragon has three heads. He always brings up by certain character about his death and how it was "unrecognizable". It's pretty telling I must say.
The switching babies is also make sense, Aegon is the heir to the throne after Rhaegar had been killed, his life is more at danger than anyone else in that house. A mother who had said to be a clever would do that especially in a time of danger. I believe Elia had tried to protect Rhaenys too, maybe it was Elia who told her to hide that's why they were at different rooms, but unfortunately she was founded by Tywin's man. Also there is rumor that Elia had killed her own son herself, perhaps it was Elia who is in the end smash the fake baby face after he died to make it look unrecognizable so they wouldn't search for her actual son. Who knows right after all there is a rumor of her killing her own son in terror.
Varys's sentiment when talking about Rhaeny's death on some occasions but oddly he never mentioned of Aegon's death. He is one of the Targaryen loyalist, if he's a Blackfyre that everyone would like to believe then he wouldn't mind if Targaryen getting destroy in the Sack of King's Landing and yet it's him who told Aerys not to open the gate when the lannister comes.
Varys has no reason to lie to a dying man.
The Blackfyre plot is not useless if Aegon being real, it just show that Dany and future enemies have their legit reasons to doubt Aegon's legitimacy, but what makes it will become a better story is if Aegon is real that Dany's action will be question, again putting her on the morally grey area between right and wrong. Aegon being real gives closure to the Martell's plots and many things. Beside the Blackfyre plot never really matter in the main plot, so I bet most general readers wouldn't even aware of that. Aegon being real has much more impact to the narrative rather than him being a fake one.
On point !!
The new Princess of Dragonstone
The biggest mystery of the book is why the fuck Rhaegar canonically has people simping and fawning over him after his death. What the fuck did this ratchet ass bitch did for people to still gush over him after he, what? Ran off with a teenage girl (who was also bethrothed to someone else), leaving his WIFE and his TWO KIDS and clowned around until a huge ass war broke out and then he got his chest caved in? That's all this mofo ever did, he was horrible and caused so much destruction for no damn reason. Logically speaking people should spit when mentioning his name. But no. And somehow poor Elia is the one who constantly got her name slandered for the crime of being Dornish. (looks at his stans, both in the books and IRL) What the FUCK. What the actual FUCK.
I guess it's because he's good looking and grrm is trying to make a point about good looking people especially men getting away with a lot. Elia on the other hand is blameless but gets blamed anyway because she's a Dornish woman
I got bored and made some things…
Sun Dragons Week: Day 1 Canon
“I remember…They murdered Rhaegar’s daughter as well, the little princess. Rhaenys, she was named, like Aegon’s sister.”
I decided to take a break from drawing the Targaryens and headed over to my favorite house, House Nymeros Martell. I truly like how this came out.
Bruinuary part 16!
Elia introduces Aegon to Rhaenys!
Double Standards in the ASOIAF fandom and Misogyny
This post was made because I saw @rhaelyas post about Lyanna Stark and the misogyny that comes with how people write her in fanfiction and it made me think about how the fandom does the same thing to Elia Martell, the overall double standard involving female characters that isn't there with male character and howthese two issues tie into each other.
Anyway, In the Asoiaf fandom, fans have always put female characters against each other and villanized them unfairly while allowing male characters (who are different) to co exist and let fans love both characters and it's obviously an issue that needs to be addressed. There are plenty of examples of this like Catelyn, Daenerys, Cersei, Sansa and Arya, Visenya and Rhaenys, and the pair I am going to be mainly talking about, Elia and Lyanna.
First, let's start with the other female characters before we start with Elia and Lyanna specifically just to provide some context. Catelyn Tully and Daenerys are at the very least disliked and at the most despised by the fandom for starting a war, hating Jon Snow, and causing chaos by killing the slavers and saving people from the horrors of slavery respectively. While they make excuses for Robert Baratheon and Tywin Lannister, men who had absolutely no issue killing innocent children, support a system that practically treats the common folk of Westeros like slaves, and committing heinous crimes left and right .
Next is Sansa and Arya, Sansa is hated for telling Cersei information about Ned , making stupid decisions (like every other character in the series), and for just not being like Arya and Arya is hated for being a cold heartless assassin and for supposedly being "bad mannered and arrogant just to name a few. There is literally a post called "15 reasons why Arya Stark deserves the hate" and do I even have to list the numerous posts or comments made by antis that hate Sansa. Also let's throw Cersei into the mix. There are some people who still don't believe Robert r*ped Cersei because Ned said that Robert was a good friend and that Cersei HAD to be lying in her own pov.
And then there is Visenya and Rhaenys. From my personal experience, the problem with this pair is usually from fanfiction writers that depict Visenya as this one dimensional, evil woman who was nothing but pure evil coming in between Aegon and Rhaenys. I even read a fanfiction where Rhaenys hoped Aegon would "acidentally" kill Visenya while they were flying.
Now onto Elia and Lyanna and the misogynistic and even racist ways they are depicted especially compared to their male counterparts. Elia and Lyanna are always set apart from each other by fans from both sides. Lyanna is this 14 - 16 YEAR OLD awful harlot who seduced Rhaegar and started a war while Elia is this poor woman who could do nothing but weep as her husband ran away with this teenage girl or how Elia was this perfectly submissive woman who agreed with everything Rhaegar did BeCaUsE sHe WaS DoRnISh (This is something that I would like to talk about in more detail in another post.) The saddest part is they don't have to be portrayed this way.
Why can't Elia be this intelligent woman who was making moves behind the scene, secretly communicating with her family, and making plans that ensured not only her safety but her children's safety as well? Why can't Lyanna be this complex morally grey character who is defying the oppressive Westeroisi system and going about it the best way she knows how, while growing, changing, and learning ? Why do writers make these characters so one dimensional to hUmBlE them and punish them for not being who they want them to be while letting their male counterparts like Oberyn and Brandon retain what little we knew about their original personalities and still make them likeable and not have them go through trauma after trauma?
I have come across quite a few fanfictions and headcanons that depict Elia as a miserable, power-hungry, and just unlikeable character as a way to make the readers root for Lyanna and I have also seen people do the same to Lyanna to make Elia look better. Like Rhaelya said the problem isn't hating the character. If you don't like Elia, Lyanna, or any other character that is fine. You don't have to. The problem is when you write these fictional characters going through massive amounts of trauma and basically punishing them for not being written the way you want them to be written . Especially when the male characters in your stories don't get the same treatment.
Male characters are allowed to make choices, they are allowed to be cruel, good, and arrogant. They are allowed to be complicated and morally grey. The fandom is perfectly okay with male characters that have done far worse and they are always humanized . Female characters can only be these sweet, quiet, and submissive angels that can do no wrong and heaven forbid they say even one bad sentence about another character let alone escape an awful situation or think about the best way to protect themselves in a system that is automatically set against them not only because they're a woman but also because of racism. With female characters there is absolutely no room for discussion, no middle ground, no reasoning. If they even do one thing the fandom doesn't like, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS ! Here comes the heinous fanfictions where they (These FICTIONAL characters) are suffering any and every vile action imaginable all because they weren't saints.
And if you don't see anything wrong with this then I sincerely worry about the women in your life.
The problem is the obvious and inherent racism in the shippers. The lovers only get their romance at the expense of Elia Martell, like the crown of roses at Harrenhal the glorification of Lyanna Stark comes at the humiliation of Elia Martell.
- Lyanna Stark can desire fidelity in her betrothal and loathe the very idea of Mya Stone. Elia Martell can't expect loyalty in her actual marriage or respect after delivering Rhaegar's two children.
-Despite bridal rape being a Nothern tradition and having a beloved brother who sleeps around, the North doesn't get scraped as an excuse for Lyanna Stark's actions. Every excuse why a princess would be alright with her husband's open adultery, despite the history of the Blackfyre rebellions, is because she is 'Dornish' and oh Oberyn.
-Thousands of years of law and religion are thrown out the window with no blacklash, Lyanna Stark is that special. She has to be a queen and her son a prince. Elia Martell needs to just take the usurpation of her place with grace.
-Lyanna Stark is the true beloved so any promise Rhaegar makes her counts. The ones he made to his legal wife don't- because he doesn't love her.
-Elia owes Lyanna everything and is a monster unless she nurses Jon herself. Lyanna owes Elia nothing.
Well Said 👏 @riana-one
A comet means it’s time to make a magical baby… At least if you ask Rhaegar… Elia just wished her husband could be a bit more romantic.
But yeah, apparently Aegon was made while there was a comet, which made Rhae think he was the prince that was promised… And seemingly we know that because he wrote it to maester Aemon, lol
Poor Elia 💔
